Well, It totally bugs me how all tideborn forms look the same, so I decided to take my own spin on it with my Psychic. Not only that but I just had the urge to draw a mermaid in general. I know I left off a few fins ... I didn't really feel that they were necessary so the color isn't the only thing that is inaccurate but I'm over all happy with how it came out. This is the character it's based on --> Click!

    Heck, I haven't even finished the last 2 I had out of the five yet so if you want to post new screenies you can. After the 5 it's kinda doubtful I'll do more in any particular order. Especially since one of my own comic projects is picking up.

    To everyone else... you know, I didn't really want to say anything but seriously... Someone posts a picture of a tideborn and it's all in this gender confusing anime/manga style and it gets a **** ton of attention including "this is the best art I've seen in this forum! Wow!" Even though the characters drawn are missing noses...

    I draw practically the same thing, in a semi-realistic style, bust my **** to make it look good and I get 3 real replies and one really obvious, very unsuccessful troll.

    Someone tell me when the hell I drew a short straw here...

    Well I know what you mean. But one can't help it I believe, c'est la vie =/

    But about the style, I myself do prefer the anime/manga style more than semi-realistic or other styles and maybe the same counts for other people as well.

    The thing about the manga and anime style is that it's made to be drawn fast and still look good.

    Not to mention EVERYONE draws it including myself.

    It still makes me a little irritable to know that if I draw some freakishly cute anime thing, spend a total of one hour on it and throw in sparkles it'll get more attention than something I worked HOURS and HOURS on.

    Just for the record hun i MUCH preffer your artwork to Gender Confusing Anime Style artwork i think its amazing and i also think anime style artwork is soul-less personally and yours is er...soulful? yah i knw that made no sense but yu get what i mean i hope. i also posted in your portrait thread. both of them in fact to try get a portrait done but if you dont have time its all good.

    I love your coloring.

    The DoF effect looks accurate. Is this something new? Or I have just not noticed it in your previous work. I have spent some time looking at your last entry in the coloring book.

    I know you blurred the background on "New Recruits" - but that seems different from what you have done here.

    Looking forward to more.

    Not my favorite style but that don't go to say its not good, anyone can see and appreciate the work that goes into it and how well made it is ^^

    @Dorset - Thanks a lot, I appreciate it ^^ I will be trying to get around to more portrait arts. Right now life is a little hectic right now so I don't know that I'd expect it really soon x_x

    Yeah I actually did do something a little different ^^ good eye there. I figured that the back would be a little tinged by the water... not to mention that I'm always experimenting to get better.

    I've always loved the amazing artwork that you do, Kyna, ever since I've seen you hanging around the art thread as much as I do. ^^ This picture is no exception, of course. I think the reason why so many people find the 'anime/manga' style amazing is just because it's so easy to 'cheat' on it, while semi-realism is so hard to get right in things like shading and proportions. I love the way you draw lips and noses and everything but sometimes the shading and positioning of them looks a little....off. It's nothing huge, but it's subtle -- if you want me to go into a bit more detail, perhaps I can pm you or something, I'm not that good at explaining.

    I can't say that I'm truly an expert artist that should really criticize something that you do so well, but it's just something for you to look at and see. Either way, your drawings are very amazing. b:victory

    P.S.: Also, her right hand does look a little bit off, but I'm sure you already knew that. ^^;
