It's called "rubberbanding", and has been around about a year and a half. The GMs are aware of it, and it basically can't be fixed. Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me
Either way they die0 -
No, I've noticed it's gotten worse. I've started rubberbanding in totally random areas, or just even while jumping. It hasn't happened nearly this often before.0

Actually, it was just as bad 1.5 years ago during a major patch. It had gotten a little better over time, but it seems that whatever the original error code that was wrote in the first time, got re-activated.
Some argue that it's a latency issue on the server side, but in all probability, it's a defunct code buried in the original source code.
See, most Free to Play MMOs are based off an original Pay to Play engine. PWI is no different. As most of these F2P games use a highly modified base engine, that by default, really isn't as flexible as other types of game engines (such as those made for consoles), certain types of "bugs" are introduced as a result. And if you're careful to note, most F2P MMOs share the rubberbanding issue.
One of the most recent F2P MMOs that started life as a P2P was DDO (I'll let you all figure that one out). The P2P version never had any rubberbanding issue at all. But, as soon as it was re-released as the F2P version it aquired that very bug.
That's not to say latency might not be the actual cause of it, it's just highly improbable.
Free to Play are just notoriously glitchy. Some people risk to employ me
Some people live to destroy me

**** i want to jump again without any issue QQ0

It got this bad because people complained about barb dropping down from the sky and arma'ing people on Sanct. b:chuckle100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

Well, I've been playing since October 2008 and this is the first time it has become a major issue for me, so I can understand that. Not that I didn't know it existed before, but before it seemed to happen a couple times before I'd drop out of it. Now, if I make the mistake of jumping off the Head Hunter's platform or landing on an NPC's head after completing an autopath, I can go have lunch and my char will still be attempting to get to the ground when I come back. Sometimes flying can fix it; sometimes I have to relog. Sometimes death occurs.
It's just a pain in the **** and it needs to be fixed... or at least toned down again.
Although... I'd keep rubberbanding as a trade if they would remove Bidding Hall, Duke, and Event spam, change TT back, size down the print in mail and AH, fix the genie energy/stamina bars, finish Lunar Glade... and I could list a lot more but that would at least be a start.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The rubberbanding is far from new and I believe at one point it was as bad as it is now. But... then again I wasn't playing during that time.
In fact, I'll be honest with you people. When I joined in the early months of 2009 I had no issues with rubberbanding ever. I would rubberband maybe once, for five seconds, and then would be fine and wouldn't rubberband again for the next three weeks.
In my own personal experience? Rubberbanding has gotten progressively worse after May or so in 2010. The first experience I had with this was in trying to run BH59 Drake. You all hopefully know the little path you can take up the mountainside to avoid five of the Drake mobs. I never used to rubberband there and was able to jump safely down from the top to the bottom.
And then I started to rubberband there. I couldn't control my jumps any more and more often then not if the rubberbanding went on for long enough, and I had been trapped up their for three or four minutes regularly, I'd end up sliding backwards off the cliff into the very mobs we were trying to avoid.
I've not even bothered to update my game for the last couple of patches, because I'm getting to the stage where I have no reason to play it. My friends have quit, my faction is falling apart, the game gets progressively ****tier with each patch in my eyes, thus I haven't bothered to download any new patches in the past few weeks. Good thing too, because from what I hear from everybody, rubberbanding has once again gotten even worse.
It may have always been there since day one, but it never used to be this prevalent, never used t be this long, and never used to be this bad in general. Once upon a time you could pretty much play the entire game without having rubberbanding issues - and if you did they were rare and they never lasted long.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

GMs, seriously, this just can't be happening, please FIX IT URGENTLY BEFORE YOU LOSE AN IMPORTANT NUMBER OF PLAYERS (yah, even more important number of players).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
