Cat Shop Lag

I'm sure this has been said before, but I'm going to say it again anyway.

I would like to look at the stuff sold in Archosaur (Dreamweaver).

BUT I CAN'T.

Why ? All the catshops crowded together lag the game so badly I gave up looking. b:angry

Hell, they lag the game so much I go to Archosaur only if I have to.


Here's a Free Business Tip for you all...............

If I can't see or move becuase of lag, I can't look at shops or buy at all, and that means no sales. Multiply that by all the others who don't bother anymore. Crowding is killing your sales.


That's just common sense.

So to all you catshop owners lagging Archosaur, you can b:bye goodbye to my money.

    Did you try clicking on the 'Best Performance' button on the top left hand corner?

    With only 3 Gb of RAM, I can happily run without problem there, even on the Jungle Ruins. And the Ping Status says there is no lag.

    So it's not a problem of the place. It's a problem with your computer and/or net connection.

    FUN FACT: The cat-shops don't cause lag.

    Screen shot #1: 17 FPS at West Archo crossroads on my older computer (P4 1.9, 1 Gig RAM, AGP Radeon 3650), just after re-loading the game. Note that you can see all the cat-shops, but the textures/models for all the nearby players haven't loaded yet.

    Screen shot #2: 4 FPS, exact same spot, no actions taken by me, 5 minutes later. Note that only 1 other player is actually on-screen, but because the past 5 minutes worth of player textures/models are now in memory the game has slowed to a crawl even though the images are almost identical.

    Conclusion: The cat-shops aren't causing the lag. The player textures/models that are now cached in memory are causing the lag.

    If you want to blame something, blame the poor garbage collection algorithms.

    I'd come up with some sort of witty rebuttal to this completely wrong statement, but like most merchants it's much easier to just keep counting my profits than try to explain the in-game economic reality to people who aren't merchants themselves.

    Awww people and their e-machines lol..its the computer that cant handle the amount of polygons..textures..you name it.Low fps=computer,high ping=lag..or u can get that evil poing thats 0..now thats some bad ping.

    So what you are basically saying is I need a new PC to spend my in game gold ? Are you serious ?

    I knew there was a fault in your business model, now I know it's a fatal flaw. The odd chance sale doesn't change the fact that many don't even try to look. Any serious trader will regret even one lost sale.

    By the way, this is not a QQ, I don't NEED to spend my money b:laugh

    Even if my 2GB DDR400/X800 GTO2 isn't enough, they are still so close together that you can't read what they are selling.

    And even running everything at minimum won't change that.



    You always seem to assume that any negative comment is a complaint. Maybe you should consider whether it's constructive criticism before you get your hate out.

    No they said you should try to lower the range at which you start seeing other players because the Catshops dont cause the lag. It is caused by alot of players on shiny mounts with sparkling weapons and glowing armor. ;-)

    Only like one said you need a new PC why dont you ignore the Troll and read the usefull comments made here? Also you kind of fed them.b:surrender

    Kill all background applications and processes, and

    Speed test your connection, and

    Consider your distance from the server.

    I live in the middle of no where and my internet is crazy-slow. They say it's 1.5m... ><

    lolumad. I can run PWI on my 256MB RAM laptop that has a **** graphic card. Granted I can't really go into Archosaur at the moment.

    For shopping in Arch i always:
    -turn distance to min
    -turn Player names off

    And YAY i can shop!^^ And yeah, if you dont do that its a damn pain for the eyes.x.X

    If you lag in the middle of nowhere when you are all alone then it could be PWI issue. If you only have problems in a large group then its YOUR COMPUTER that has an issue.

    Get a decent computer or quit whining about lag/fps

    Oh, I take it you did read the WHOLE post ?

    If you did, you will see it's mostly about crowding, not lag. The screenshot makes my point, though I doubt you looked at it. Oh well :)
