Lovely Day of BH51

Dear diary,
Today, I had a grand day of constantly running the Frostcovered Grounds dungeon. It was wonderful.
The first party I went with had a level 101 cleric, two psychics between 60 and 70, and three blademasters, myself included. For this party, we had to do a regular run from Fushma to Wyvern. It was a blast. I managed to tank all three and not die once. It wasn't the best squad, as everyone else managed to drop dead once, and one of the psychics vanished after Rankar, but it was definitely a great experience.
The second squad I ran with had a level 100 cleric, a level 68 barb, a wizard, an assassin, and myself. The barbarian already had over 9,000 hit points. He never lost aggro to me, and nobody died, the whole run. It was so awesome. Not only did I not have to tank, but I was able to do great damage constantly.
The third squad I was added to had a level 62 cleric, three barbarians (61,62,68), a level 60 archer, and myself. What the ****. Two of the barbarians could stop stroking their epeens long enough to really do more than slow the party down. The level 61 barbarian stayed in tiger form the whole time and, with very few fails, kept aggro off of anyone that might die. The level 68 barbarian made it clear that he did not want to tank anything, even though his level, gear, and hit points were well above anyone else. When we hit Wyvern, my pleas of strategy were ignored and the level 68 barbarian rushed in and nearly died multiple times, as the cleric never once purified. At the end of the run, everyone stood around, patting each other on the back, except for me. I didn't have the heart to tell them. We didn't have three barbarians. We had one barbarian and a pair of timid house cats. I dubbed them the twin failbarbs.
Sincerely,
Synn

Anyone know wtf happened to barbs? Once upon a time, they were the awesome tanks that could handle the big stuff without a care in the world. Now, they can't even handle being a tank to a boss that a BM can tank. Wtf?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

You had 3 barbs in one run? Greedy..... we can't even find 1 barb, let alone 3.0

I agree... which is why I don't bother with my psychic's Bhs anymore.b:surrender0 -
Highest-leveled barb of the team afraid of tanking? Charm ticking? Repairs? If so, they should not join a team.
as for high levels that manage to die because of carelessness (hotheaded ones) or clumsy behavior (stupid aggroing) or not use skills when the situation asks for it, I blame a rushed, probably artificial leveling... just stating the obvious (BHs, hypers anyone?).
Not honing skills before running an instance is really not so good. That is why I don't like squadding, it's truly like lottery, as you could get a superb team or a one that screams fail all over it (and gears, levels and classes will not guarantee anything).Maintenance time. Please choose a line:

I remembered the times in BH51, I mostly stood there and let people kill the bosses... When some people said "what is that archer doing?" or tell me to DD. I tried against Ranker and i died in a few shots from AOE b:cry few of those people laughed at me, and at wyvern too... few times the clerics refused to revive me... It did suck big time. I just have to pretend I have some stuff like sharp even though I do not know what that is. BH59 is pretty hard and hard to get a squad0

I hate (yup, not dislike, in that precise context) the kind of people you mentioned. They think they are know-it-alls but they don't have learned the basics of squads. Most of that will be weeded out in a few more levels..
What I can't stand, is people that have been pro ran a few times, and they think it is supose to be ran like that everytime.0 -
So now people not only make threads about epic fail BH squads, but also when it doesn't go exactly the way you want it to but still succeeds?

Right here with ya Fuzzy.
Sadly there's about 4 or 5 barbs on my server that I trust.
@OP: That's one reason to stack your BHs...one squad, one run and done.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Why the hell would you do 3 BH runs in 1 day?
If your not stacked, atleast port out after each boss to hand in lol. Specially 51 is easy, just port out and your in lost9 out of 10 voices in my head say I'm not crazy... the 10th is singing the music of tetris0 -

Fail squads, fail cleric barbs dd will always happen on bhs no matter wt lvl we are thats why sometimes when the bh goes fast and withou annyone dying kinda makes us feel happy inside....
But what i really cant stand is the people that dont type in when returning the bh or take endless minutes to get to the other boss..(not to meantion the constants afks or the BRB)
I had a barb last night that said brb when he was tanking Rankar,,,,, b:surrender0 -
Seriously, I just enjoy tanking things. It's so much more fun than hitting a button every twenty seconds. It's even more enjoyable when I have a decent team for keeping me alive AND spanking the **** out of the giant monkey Rankar. =D[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Did BH51 on my BM yesterday, starting with zimo in BH59.
Well we get in, psychic, 2 BMs, sin, cleric, barb.
Barb logs off. Cleric decides to relog for some reason. When the cleric gets off the psy gets lead. Psy then adds........ another psy, that doesn't even speak english. Re adds the cleric and we're like, "yea we need a barb now" and then our squad just sits there for 20 minutes while we try to explain we need a barb, to our psy who at this point I'm convinced has no clue what's going on. FINALLY they kick the psy and add a barb and we get started. We run through the instance up to zimo, we get to zimo. The entire time up to the boss the squad is just running up to a mob, luring it, and then killing them one at a time. I try to suggest to our barb that he uses roar and we can do more mobs at a time, but he just ignores me or whatever. Finally we're at zimo and we start the boss, everything goes well except our sin getting aggro and dying. Then when the boss is at 40%, our barb just runs off. Just..... runs off, boss in tow.
Like our entire squad is just amazed at how stupid this guy is, he just runs away for absolutely no reason.
So of course, our squad wipes, of course.
We try it again, the guy still can't hold aggro but we make it.
Head into FB51 to take care of fushma, we finally start attempting to AOE groups of mobs. I run up to the group, stun, use my AOE skills and I get aggro after the very first one, of every mob. Barb said he didn't use roar, so w/e, we move onto the next group and I still get aggro, even though he used roar, at this point he reveals to us that he has level 1 roar.
Fushma rolls around, he runs up to the boss and aggros it while the cleric just stands there. Just.. watches. So of course our barb dies. At this point I flashback to doing BH51 without a cleric but no matter. Cleric resses him and we go on. After the boss, I forget about even trying to do rankar, and leave squad.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'm not sure whats wrong with barbs these days. I saw a lvl 78 barb just yesterday with 5.2k HP buffed and in tiger and around 3k mana. When i asked why he said "I put points in magic so i would get more magic defense" b:cry Wth is wrong with these people? Ever since my girlfriend started playing PW I've tanked all of her BHs. I just can't trust barbs to do their job anymore. Whenever i can't tank it (at practice b:surrender ) she always somehow ends up dieing more than twice. She's an archer yeah, but I've taught her how to manage aggro, she's never took aggro from me once. I'm sure that some DDs are to blame for not assist attacking, or not managing how much they hit -cough- PSYCHICS -cough-. The amount of epicphaillosermayaswellbelawnornament barbs is far more worrisome however. Fail DDs are normal :P
BTW i asked a barb to invoke on my archer once when he pulled too many mobs. He proceeded to go human and arma the mobs, dieing almost instantly. When i asked why he did, he replied "invoke fails dude" b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
My hilarious BH51 run....My barb was lvl 65-66 with around 8.5k HP in kitty form. In squad was another barb with less HP fully buffed in kitty then my guy has standing up. Ok, no biggie. Tradition is bigger / higher lvl barb tanks it, right? Except....he wont get out of tiger form, and seems unable to avoid hitting his FR button on mobs and bosses. >.<! Nothing more fun than pulling a group and finding out that your cleric is half a room behind you, healing the squishy barb who just FR one of the mobs you aggro'd and is getting his **** handed to him. I spent a lot of time that run having to retrace my steps. Not to save the squishies, but to save the other barb. *blink*
We do the whole BH run and only needed Fush / Rank that day---e1 but the other barb, that is. He asks the squad to kill Wyvern for him cuz he needs it. We agree, and then he says "Oh yeah, I cant tank this dude...my axes have only (insert low # here) durability left". This after all the times he FR Fush and Rank (even after I asked him not to), and uncounted mobs inside the cave.
After I pick my head off the desk and control my chuckles, I ask him how he'd planned to tank the BH if I hadn't been there. Yeah...no answer.
I pity teh foo'0 -

That's why I love this game!
You can make hundreds of BH and all will be different, thanks to those ppl with their particular style of play, it will demand more from yourself to compensate for the errors committed by the group, resulting in some kind of more challeging run and still be successful.
Of course none want too much of that! It supposed to be fun, not stressful. Lol.
And for those Two Barbs: maybe it should be a female fashion for them... sorry for taunt. Like a Barb in Tutu, would looks pretty nice, jumping around, hiting random mobs and run away. Whatever.0 -
Dear diary,
I ran two more BH51's today. Completely different squads, though. I was lucky on the first one. I managed to get the same barbarian I had from my second BH the other day.
The first run was so much cake, I couldn't really complain. I mean, it started out like ****, as we had THREE assassins, a venomancer, a cleric, and myself. However, after one assassin decided that the Twilight Temple was more interesting, and the other got his **** handed to him three out of four times and disconnected, we managed to get a wonderful barbarian and archer. Cake run. Nobody died, everyone had fun. It made me smile.
The second run was for my wife. She's got a dreadful need for spirit points, for her skills. As I was already at the Frostcovered Grounds, I was able to watch the venomancer of the party bramble herself. And only herself. And she ran forward with her crystalline magmite to grab the first of the two mobs. We had no barbarian and we were alone in the instance. The cleric managed to get a level 80 barbarian to join our party, but we remained alone in the instance for a little while. She continued to move forward. It took the squad some time to catch up to us, to buff us. The psychic wanted to play Leroy Jenkins and made many mobs angry. He didn't die, but I may have used some seriously foul language, in real life.
The barbarian didn't catch up to us until we were already waiting on Fushma. This is roughly five minutes after my wife has decided that we can't let the venomancer do ANY more of her pulling ****. This barbarian comes running in, in tiger form. Over 10,000 hit points. We circle up for buffs and the barbarian turns human.
I've never really seen a barbarian in pink. Maybe I haven't really cared to look. It looks funny. Fushma was not a problem, but it was worrisome when the cleric suddenly puts up regeneration aura. It dawns on us that we might have a problem. No, not with Fushma, but with the whole instance. Lazy clerics tend to get people killed more often than bad tanking.
I digress. We approach Rankar, as he is coming from the hallway. The cleric stands right next to him and tries to set up regeneration aura. It was a one-hit death. Quite fitting. The cleric goes to town and the barbarian runs in circles. Around the party, letting them take AoE hits. My wife used Shadow Walk and stood near the pillar, far away. I stood in the hallway and watched with glee.
The cleric was running towards us. So, I went to meet her. The barbarian followed. Needless to say, it resulted in another instant death. Since I was already ahead of the group, in the return direction, I went to meet the cleric in case of respawn. The barbarian decided that the best way to handle this was to take the boss to the beginning of the instance and make sure that the cleric would never come in.
Lucky us, we met the cleric in the hallway before the entrance and managed to delay her enough for the killing to get done without further death. We move forward, while party members go to pick up the Wyvern quest. The travel is fast and we make it to the last monster in the whole dungeon.
Diary, I fear that the barbarian had a false impression of me. I was annoyed that she felt that I needed to be protected from the mobs around me. She asked if she was doing good for a girl barbarian. I didn't say anything.
The cleric uses regeneration aura and the barbarian starts tanking Wyvern. Were it not for the laziness of the cleric, I would have taken a very nasty hit. Wyvern had looked at me, and angrily smacked me. I believe he was displeased that I was spanking him, again.
Once the run was over, the leadership of the party was passed to me and everyone left. I waited for a moment, for the squad invitation to come, so I could leave fast. None came. I decided to start walking back, in protest. My wife heard me cussing and sent an invitation.
Diary, I fear that the game is dying. The stupidity of fail attack clerics is starting to rub off on support clerics. That's not to say that attack clerics are fail, but rather the mentality of fail clerics that refuse to heal is rubbing off on the ones that are supposed to be healers.
I wonder if I will ever get to tank the bosses, again, with a decent cleric.
Sincerely,
Synn[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Yeah, did Zimo, today. Lowest level in the party and I tanked. That is, I tanked for a level 76 BM that was "Axe/Fist".
I'm all for having all the possible power a character can get, but be reasonable. If the build makes it so you can't handle a little heat, it might not be for you.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Not the build, it's the player and their equips.
With BM/Cleric buffs, I could run into the face of 59 bosses and still survive fighting melee when the cleric healed me as a 7X pure dex archer/sin. So for a 7X BM to be unable to do the same when they have higher phys def, an easy cancel via fist path, more HP, and better overall defenses (they could easily mag marrow for when boss is casting and switch to phys right after) means it's the player that's doing something wrong.0
