Do you want to become a PWE moderator?

Dear PW forumgoers, what would you say if I said that you, too, would be able to become a moderator for the PWI forums? To have your name stand out from the rest and the power to supress public voice at will? Well, now you can! Before I tell you how, here is an overview of your duties.
1. Merge new threads into their respective existing official threads.
As you know, due to the insane number of protests to the number of changes we have made to PWI, we are getting complaints that are exceeding thousands. As a response, we decided that with each selfish change that is decaying the game, we would open an official thread for people to complain in. This way, the complaints can be easily ignored. Your job is to A) go to these official threads, and every 10 pages or so, pop in and respond with either something off-topic, a promise that the problem is under discussion, or an apology. keep a constant eye out for new threads created by people that see through our ploy. There are no need to read these threads closely, as soon as you see the keywords (packs, TW, HH), merge it into the official thread.
2. Close threads that offer intelligent insights.
While a lot of posters on PWI forums are not quite intelligent, once in a while a thread will appear that actually offers detailed insight on the causes of the problems and reasonable solutions. These solutions are NOT profitable to us. I repeat - NOT profitable to us. Your most important job is to recognize these threads and close them down IMMEDIATELY. We do not want intelligent ideas spread around and gain supporters. Find ANY excuses you can to close down those threads. Feel free to expand the ToS to do so, or even contact us and we will add new items to the ToS for you.
3. If a thread is so well made that there are no reasonable means to close it down.
You have 2 options. 1) go on an alt and flamebait the thread so that you can close it down for flamebaiting. 2) close it and delete it permanently so that newer people cant see. The risk with this is that if you are not fast enough a few people might get the chance to read it. So be hasty in your decisions.
If you like what you see and would like to be a member of our team, please contact our employee of the lifetime Aryannamage. She is our best employee. She has no mind of her own, has no life so that she is on 24/7, and deletes without reason faster than she eats banana splits. She is our model moderator. Be like her. DO NOT be like eatwithspoons. eatwithspoons cared about the public opinions and try to benefit the game, not the company. That sort of betrayal is unacceptable, and well, you know what happened to him. Just keep that in mind when your applying.
EDIT: Forgot to mention this will be unpaid and voluntary.

I genuinely lol'd at a few parts of this. Key words being: a few.
The rest were more of a facepalm thing.

Ok what the **** is this?0

I don't know how to say this nicely.
That's why I'm saying: if you get butthurt because Mod's did something "bad", you don't belong here. Or, if you are trolling: 10/10 points. It was hilarious.
Also, enjoy your ban. If you don't get perma-banned, mods are doing it wrong.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

What a sad thread.
Can only hope for an IP ban for such a dumb post. And to top it off he talks about intelligent postings from players.
What a donkey.

frankieraye:All right, I admit it, it's a bit retro. lol.0 -
I like it. It's sad and obviously exaggerated but nonetheless true. You have to think whether or not some of it is copied and pasted straight from the instructions given to mods lol.0
-
On the contrary Tatuaje I think a reasonably intelligent person would know that the opening post is satire, but some people can't take humor at their own expense. Or they take everything too seriously. Obviously the post is an exaggeration of some of the moderators' faults but it also points to a few of the irks many people have about the way this forum is modded and that is definitely true.0

Any form of enforcement, control type of job people will criticize to no end. MODs online, Referees in sports, law enforcement.
No matter what they do even if it is does perfectly to a T to the rules people will still hate them.
Its that simple.tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???
frankieraye:All right, I admit it, it's a bit retro. lol.0 -
yes the mods do do their job perfect to the T...the T of not caring about what we say lol...0
-
@ Tatuaje : Of course, and I agree with you. However, even if you **** off a few people with some decisions, your actions will determine how people like you, and as you can see in eatwithspoon's case, it is not impossible to win the hearts of this crowd. I know these forumgoers like to complain and QQ but it was already proved that they can like a mod/admin/GM even if they don't agree with every little decision. And if I remember correctly eatwithspoons wasn't lax on the ban hammer or thread locking either :P0

Yes, some are better than others but I do think that PWI has reformed its group and this game is actually going to be left behind.
So the service you get here is sorta how the game is being dealt with. I am sure Frankie is a great person IRL but has been directed to other avenues when focusing on their job.
So, people need to keep their agression directed not at one but at the PWI company as a whole.tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???
frankieraye:All right, I admit it, it's a bit retro. lol.0 -
The mods here are too serious, lock and move every single thread that they don't like is ridiculous.0

The difference being, depending on how well you do your job, how fair you are, and whether or not you have visible effort with making sure that it's clear that you perform your actions for a reason, the critics will be few and you'll have plenty more willing to either defend you or accept your judgment.
An excellent example in PWI would be spoons. He did do his job but he also made himself a part of the community and when he had to take official action, it was always made explicitly clear why. With him, there were many times where he didn't need to take full action simply because he had gained the community's respect. That, in turn, made it even more understandable when he did have to, as he put it, go and have his, "serious face on now".
So while it's impossible to avoid hate, critique, and the annoyances of the job. It IS possible to, at the very least, be supported by a far greater percentage of your community than the ones who would hate you.0 -

Yes, and that is troubling to me. Of all the mods aryannamage is the most active and has been around the longest. I don't see how anyone can sit on these forums so long doing something that isn't paid or or enjoyable (maybe it's enjoyable to her?). The other mods like Konari don't seem to be online for as many hours, which I find more...normal. I mean where are you going with your life if you're patrolling these forums all of your non-sleeping day and not even getting paid for it? I think that is why many people accuse her of having no life. The difference being, depending on how well you do your job, how fair you are, and whether or not you have visible effort with making sure that it's clear that you perform your actions for a reason, the critics will be few and you'll have plenty more willing to either defend you or accept your judgment.

I am not here to defend Frankie or criticize Eats since I enjoy both.
But I will say this.
Frankie has been here for a lot of the worst changes made by PWI and I feel has had to deal with a lot more angry customers.
If Eats was here for what is going on lately I am not sure if some of these new people would have the same respect as some of us old time players.
P.S. I am off, since I am not getting paid to sit here at work and chat anymore. Cya y'all tomorrow.tatuaje: grinding mobs and zhenning ???

I actually have few complaints against frankieraye's modding. He's always left a real reason or two for the closing of threads. Also I like that when he needs to censor something he doesnt' delete the whole post. Sometimes he does the thread merging thing but I find him to be a mostly reasonable admin.0

+1
As a mod, I have no real complaints or major problems when it comes to frankie.
As a PR for PWI, well.... let's just say that I would not want to be in his shoes at all right now.0 -

Usually when people shirk paid duty to post on forums, it's not to peruse through useless threads and be flamed by the masses. But yea, I see your point.0 -
I've been here as long as Frankie, 2 years and almost 2 months b:victory
Most Mods are NOT PWE employees. Granted, I am a Tech Support Panda employee of PWE, but we do care about all of our players and do the best we can within the rules and policies given to us.
Disrespecting anyone on the forums really isn't acceptable. We are all here to learn about the game, have fun, and make new friends.
Sometimes the drama, flames, and immaturity get to be too much, and actions are taken. Sometimes the decisions aren't fair. Life isn't fair either. There are consequences for everyone's actions, and we do what we can to keep the forums and community an organic and friendly place.
Please try to do the same.
Thanks! b:byeDo you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

"the my Sabre"?
I think someone's got a furball in their throat causing lack of oxygen in the brain causing silly statements. If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.
Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.0
