Why do people do this?

I get a quest to kill x mob, I find the mob and find a nice spot where I can pretty much make a small circle killing them. With out fail, someone else will come stand right beside me and start killing the same mob, in some cases kill the mob I initiate.

I look around, there are the same mobs in the distance, not being killed so I go ahead and move over to those mobs and to my surprise, someone comes stand right beside me and starts killing them too (could be the same person in some cases or someone new), even though they ran through the same mobs to get to the area I am killing in.

I call it the magnet effect (term I made up in another MMO which people did the same thing)

Why is this? Why do people do this?

I can understand crowded areas you might want to try and stake a claim to some mobs for a quest, but most of the time I try to find a secluded area and still get them.

    There could be two reasons:

Horny adolescents wanting a piece of your veno pixels.

They're purposely kill stealing you to try to upset you.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.

    1. They are newbs who fail at their class so badly that they would die trying to solo a single, normal mob of their level.

    Fixed it for you.

They don't get the kill or the loot because Venos are downright badasses (op in other words) just annoying that they try.

    Quick question(s) since people apparently read these forums (unlike some other free mmo forums);

When can I talk in world chat? Im level 30 and still can't, that seems...strange.

There is no NPC that sells a noob mount? I'm stuck having to either a) pay real money for one or b) paying a bajillion in game money for one?

To talk in WC you require a Teleacoustic, which is a Boutique item. Or buy off players for.....12k ish. Only NPC that sells a mount is the Pet Manager, for I think 2mil? Other mounts ingame exist, but require time, such as the Dragon Quest, the recent Celestial Tiger event, etc.

To OP, do they party/do you party them? If they ignore party invites and keep on KSing that's just stupid.

Technically it would be polygons or polys for short. If this game wasn't 3D and all the characters were 2D sprite then they would be 100% pixels. b:victory

except, on a computer screen, the screen shows as little pixel squares, so it could be either way.

Thanks for the relies to the questions, very active forums, I like it.

Just before server shut down I got my quest to get my flying mount, just need the dull claws.

All I can say is THANK YOU GOD because I am SICK of running all over the place.

I am now level 31 (maybe 32 just before shut down) will my income of money be faster? Seems like just when I get a good chunk of change in my pocket, I go train skills and poof, I'm broke again.

I am loving the amount of quests in this game, not so much a grind fest (yet, I read that after 35 or so it starts to get grindy), I just wish there was a better way to keep up with the quests, like finished quests get highlighted in the book or moved to a "completed" tab or something.

Anyways, thanks again, see you in game, unless I don't.

My monitor isn't 3D... I'm pretty sure the screen is flat. And, the textures are too. So I guess I would like a piece of that wireframe model :S

Granted our levels are pretty similar, but collecting almost anything that's dropped from enemies definitely helps with money. But skills are just horribly expensive. For whatever reason, being a BM I feel its worse, but I might be biased XD.

Quests help a lot with experience and gold to an extent, but I still find myself grinding occasionally even with a crapload of quests. After a certain amount of levels it slows down, so it hurts a little less if you get used to grinding early on. At least if you get into crafting, weapons and armor cost significantly less. One less thing to worry about cash wise.

As a Veno, once you get into the higher levels making money through grinding will be easy. Unlike pretty much all of the other classes, you don't need pots(You get skills to recover you HP and MP) and you don't need ammo(I blow like, a third or more of what I make through grinding because I need arrows), and your repair bills will be lower than most, if not all.
Sell anything and everything you don't need/want.

35 to 40 can be pretty grindy, yes. But from 30+ you have the daily Crazy Stone quest available to you. That will give you a nice chunk of EXP once per day. Other than that, do any quests you have then grind out the rest if necessary.

At 40+ you get the daily Bounty Hunter quest and that also gives lovely EXP. Be careful, though. Make sure you read up about your class. Fast leveling means many people don't learn and get a feel for their character, nor develop a fighting style. Take time to grind so you can be aware of the extent of your abilities, strengths, and weaknesses. No one likes a clueless player.

(I blow like, a third or more of what I make through grinding because I need arrows)

I use the cheap ammo and w/e i get as drops on my archer alt. my potion bill is higher than my ammo bill. not that im spamming skills or anything.. i use just one or two skills each mob. just IMO pots per session are more costly than ammo is - until 75 probably when you can use herb yuanxiao.

I thought about using cheaper ammo, but less damage makes me QQ. Although I suppose I can switch and see how I do. I just love me some money. b:dirty

I've been getting pot drops quite a bit while grinding so I haven't had to buy any for a while. x)

For your original question, some people want to get an invite. No idea why they can't just speak up, but I tend to invite them. Others are just being asses.

If you know what to farm for and keep to sell at your level, yeah, you'll see income. What I used to do was NPC away my Rough Fur, Purified Oil, etc etc... Check out the catshops. Almost stabbed myself when I found out what they'e used for and how much they're worth.

Keep track of the worth of your drops and you won't be so broke again.

Yeah i hate this too but often you cant blame them, its just that there are not enough mobs for everyone and when there is a veno near, they just are scared they couldnt get any mobs because your pet could aggro the mobs around 2 just by walkin into them. But its the same with barbs i think. Yes, it would be good to team up with them. Many Classes love being in a squad with a veno by questing because they dont have to tank (the pet usually does) and use too many pots b:pleased

When there are too many, just try to do another quest! Shouting at them wont help i think and the most ppl wont leave the area ;)

And dont worry, you will make good money with grinding and tts and so on in future :D

Additionally you can grab every Iron, Coal, Gravel and Log you find to sell it at the Auction House. :3
At your level that earned me quite some money, also you should check the Auction House for a low level mount. They Icebear was just 1.2 million when i last saw it there on my server. My friend earned herself almost 2 million by level 40 just by selling purified oils, concentrated glues, rough fur and collectable mats there, and shes an Archer. ;-) (Its all gone now...evil fashion...)
Yes it is grind buuuut, if you dont mind it you should try the lv 33 (or 32-34 dont remember) Airsnakes (Cloudchaser Vipion maybe... -.-) above Silver Pool. They have the best Concentrated Glue drop rate and that sells up to 9k a piece at my server atleast. ^^
Usaly no one kills them because they are not requiered for a quest. :3

Sorry but I don't think you read my original post or didn't comprehend what I said. I said there were plenty of mobs around to kill, they were just killing next to me and I mean right next to me, literally on top of me.

I do use the quest tracker, I'm used to a more functional quest log/tracker I guess. (response to post on page 1)

The catshop (I assume these are the personal shops that are littering the ground in cities?) how do I open one of these? and can I open one and go afk for extended periods (overnight)?

So much to learn in this game and I am barely scratching the surface! I joined a guild yesterday, but only because I got tired of ninja invites so I just finally accepted one of them...no one talks or is on very often...it's quiet.

Got my first flying mount (quest), it's slow but a million times better than running on the ground, I had no idea there were so many flying mobs above me before lol.

Thank you guys for being so helpful.

it could be that your grinding something for valuable items (I know which one), 3x is the best level to gain money... and your playing a veno too b:surrender I seen venoes KSed a lot. But yeah, its like venoes that are around your level trying to get rare pets, the higher leveled venoes want to take from them lol. Trust me, use search feature. It could be the items or you being on a female char regardless if you are really a guy or girl.

If it is that they don't know what they are doing
Solution 1: move to another spot.
Solution 2: squad with them, I have been KSed, and asked them if they needed... most likely they are newbies that just don't know
    Solution 3: log off

If it is that they are griefing and following you
Solution 1: screen shot and submit a ticket
Solution 2: mock them, or laugh at them
    Solution 3: log off

If your in PK mode (or PVP server)
    Solution 1: Submit a ticket
    Solution 2: attack/kill them
    Solution 3: log off

Press E then look under Trade - you will see the consignment shop icon. Click on that to open shop. And yes, you can open it for extended periods of time, as long as you don't mind your PC running overnight.

If you want, you can drag the consignment shop icon to your skill bar for quicker access.
