D-orbs in the event boutique

Since they can't be combined, there's no point to even have them in there. Is this a bug or the way it was meant to work? (Looking for official responds, but I'm not holding my breath)

    The event gold you get from tiger event that you can spend in the event boutique... 1* d-orbs are one of the things you can buy in there but they can't be combined to make higher d-orbs.

    Well, they want them to be untradable. So they can't use the normal combine process - since those give normal tradeable 2* orbs.
    Adding a second combine process would be too confusing / too much work, I guess?

    But yeah - they don't combine. So don't buy them, duh.
