[Question]How to Spend Gold Wisely?

I think I'm pretty high level, 6X, feels sweet and awesome. All my hard work into quests and socializing. Socializing is an essential skill! Without friends or factions to help, you absolutely have to wait ages for help. Not that I completely depend on them but they are the backbone to this game (it's my opinion).
Anyways, I'm feeling like I want to charge some Zen and get a flying mount or a mount. But oh my, they cost so much! Maybe there's something else I can spend it on? I don't wanna spend that much but what is worth the Zen/Gold? How do you spend it? What should I spend it on?

Please don't even try to say Herc, or a Phoenix, I just can't....afford them...
Please and thank you. Your fellow newbie, Light :p.

I'd start with a flyer personally. If you don't care about looks, I'm fairly certain you can upgrade the basic cash shop rays with wind widgets, more cheaply than you can purchase a 3.0 mount. Of course, if you can't afford to upgrade, the cheapest cash shop flyer is faster than the in-game one =P

A land mount is useful but IMO more of a luxury, it makes your life SO much easier to have a decent-speed flyer.

If you'd rather, you could also just purchase gold, then sell it in the AH and use the coin you get to buy something in-game. This might be a better option as you can often find deals where players are selling cash shop items like flyers, mounts, and fashion (least essential cash shop item =P) for less than their gold price in coins.

Great question! I recommend starting small, there are so many surplus mounts and flyers in the AH and catshops that you're better off getting a reasonable amount of gold and selling it for coin. Then using a portion of that coin to buy a mount and a flyer for less than 5 mil. You can usually find max speed mounts and flyers for around 3-5 mil if you shop around. To get 5 mil coin you need to sell 12-15 gold, so getting 30 gold should cover you easily.

Or you can grind for an hour each day, and in a week or two you'll have enough to buy a cheap mount/flyer. b:pleased

you can charge zen, then sell it in the auction hall, and make money that way, but there is a bit of silver tax deduction when u put ur gold up for sale, so make sure u sell it for the current price, or u might be wasting silver reputting it back in over and over.

anyways, you can find mounts/flying mounts cheaper from player shops than buying it straight out with zen. like example, a panther in game costs about 1-1.5mill. if you sold 7 gold in the AH (7.5 gold is the price of a panther) u would make about 2.8mill (depending on the server)... so you see what im getting at.

I would recommed to get super inventory and bank extensions, they do pay for themselves. Also, a pet cage or two, some would recommend maxing them but it really is difficult to keep pets leveled at current rates and 5-6 seems to me about the practical limit to the number of slots you'll be using unless you really are into experimenting with pets. A flyer or mount you'd be better off getting second hand, it may take a while but you can get some great bargains if you're not especially picky about looks. Both you can do without, i usually stack 4 BHs so i don't have to rush to turn in the quests (usually i'll get 1-2 bosses per run, which is sufficient for my modest leveling pace) and mounts you will really only need for events. Do try to get both when you can as time saved is always good thing.

Some small consumables are usually a smart choice as well, but with the option of getting many of those from packs you'll really have to do some checking before you decide if it's really worth it to get some to use or merchant. Finally, do keep some gold as savings if you can manage. There will always be small oportunities to profit from it even if it's just by selling whenever demand rises.

You can get a cheap maxed (+3) aerogear for 3-4 million, you don't have to buy a same speed fancy one for 20mil. It's stupid. I got my maxed Skymanta for 3.5mil and I'm happy with it. b:pleased You can get 10 gold for 10 dollars, sell the gold for around 420k / gold (Sanctuary price) and buy a cheap maxed Aerogear. It's more useful than a land mount.

I'm on raging tide and I looked around, well lets just say it looks more expensive than you guys think but thank you for all your coments and avices.

    Edit:
I think I'll get an aero gear but what's the cheapest way to get a +3 without the good looks? I don't understand how the widgets works, I ask around but they say it depends on which aerogear you're upgrading?

Aero gear wise you upgrade at the forge at the back side of Thousand Streams. (go to the teleporter then turn left) You'll see 4 forges it's the last one.

Aero gear wise (haven't done this in a while so trying from memory if someone can get the correct numbers I'd appreciate it)

1.0 upgrade to 1.5 costs 20 or 40 wind widgets
1.5 upgrade to 2.0 costs 20 or 40 wind widgets
2.0 upgrade to 2.5 costs 60 wind widgets
2.5 upgrade to 3.0 costs 80 wind widgets

wind widgets are about 10 silver in the boutique so depending on the gold exchange per server will adjust the cat shop price.

at this point the max wings that are at 3.2 and 3.3 are specific to those wings and other wings cannot be upgraded to those two lvls.

BTW at the Forge you will have to have your flyer unequiped and in your inventory then click and drag it to the picture of it at the forge where it shows the flyer picture and the wind widget pictures in the lower 1/2 of the manufacturing window. If you have dragged it over properly the forge's photo of the flyer will be lit up brightly vs faded out.
