Ok so, i'm a linux user and ive noticed something that i think *could* work for PWI. The majority of linux software is all open source, and edited/updated by volunteer programmers around the world, when a bug is discovered, its reported to the appropriate team, that team then sets out to correct the issue by writing a patch, thoroughly testing this patch, rewriting if needed etc, before releasing it to the general population (stable, testing and unstable repositories) Third party drivers etc such as nvidia's linux video driver, are still locked up pretty tight for the most part but some aspects are community modifiable if i'm not mistaken.

Why cant PWI implement a similar idea, lock down parts of the code they dont want the general population having access too, say, host it on the main servers (which i believe most things such as the boutique and whatnot are server-side anyways) but allow volunteer programmers to work on the client's code for things like the UI, rendering engine, etc, this will ensure at least 3 things:

1) Bugs such as rubber banding will actually get fixed eventually
2) All patches will get thoroughly tested before hitting the general population
3) PWI will save a little money with less programmers/devs on the payroll

I'm not entirely sure if PWI has leased the game from PW-CN and has little to no creative control or if they've bought full rights and have complete control, if its the latter maybe this little idea of mine might be useful, if its the former then oh well, forget my idea its useless anyways

They are not interested in fixing things, they just want more money.

Yeah, but you missed the important part of that sentance.

They are not interested in fixing things

Besides which, PWI's lease from PW-CN means they don't get jack for creative freedom, let alone partially open-sourcing the code.
Noble idea, but never gonna happen.

I think you missed something with that point. With the **** they're coming out with, it's quite obvious they don't have many devs on their payroll now do they?

Hey, us Chinese can be creative, be it's something with Chinese and MMORPGs that doesn't work out. Maybe it's out culture or something. But every Chinese MMORPGs I've played fails in terms of community support and feedback.

The code is probably a complete mess and most likely all the comments are in Chinese.
