Client Crashes

Argh, this is driving me to the point of frustration.

Is anybody else having their client crash on a regular basis? And by crash, I mean, it will shut down unexpectedly and bring up it's error report screen, and by regular basis I mean at least once every day.

For the past four days my client has managed to destroy itself into the oblivion at least once every day. In fact, I'm only finally posting about it because my client just died for the third time today. In my history of playing Perfect World my client has never crashed like this so often. Say maybe one unexpected crash every two months, if that.

I'm verifying files for the third time right now but nothing was found the last two times and I'm doubtful anything is going to be found this time either. Anybody have any similar experiences?

I'm just going to blame the latest patch, because before this patch I was never crashing like this. And god it's frustrating when you can't even finish a WQ.

All is fine here Airyll (at the moment).

The only semi regular crash to desktop I get is when I fly from Archosaur to 1k Streams. Ocassionally it crashes above Windswept Grasslands for some reason. Hasn't happened since that patch though.

Sorry to hear about your crash to desktop problems. b:sad

Blah. I'm not sure what's up with the client at all. At first I was tempted to blame lag, but from experience, online games don't tend to crash because of high ping and excess lag, they merely boot you off, and I haven't been disconnected at all.

I dunno. If it carries on crashing like a mutha I'll send in a ticket and make a thread in the technical support forum detailing when it crashes and suchlike, but for the most part I have no idea about what's causing this. =P

    Thanks for the reply, Chillum.

actually. this has happened to be a bit while trying to do delta. i would crash, force log would not work and i'd have to wait 5 mins to get system booted. once back in, crash again. wait 5mins. get inside. someone else crashes and we end up spending an hour waiting to get inside.

Fine here as well. I haven't had any crashes since I started to play in windowed mode. Or wait, I did crash my client intentionally a few times after I found out that when you lag and try to open a catshop, if you click some NPC before the catshop loads it will always crash it. Doesn't work anymore though.

Just to add, I play in windowed mode too. Playing full screen and alt tabbing for internet browser seemed to cause one or two more crashes. Switched to windowed mode a while back. That seemed to minimise the occurrances.

    Regards.

For the record, I'm always playing in windowed mode. Playing Perfect World on a 1920x1200 monitor is just too big for my liking, whether I have other windows open or not. =P

I always play on some arbitrary sized window mode. The client seems to be more stable than ever. I haven't had any crashes for a while and my client is always usually running, even if I'm not logged into a particular character... I have safety lock set for an hour and only like resetting it when I need to... so I usually afk in-game or go to the char selection screen.

No issues here on Vista Ultimate 64. b:surrender
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.

    Perfectly fine for me.
Maybe it's something to do with Dreamweaver server?

I've no idea if it's something wrong with the DW server in particular. I've seen a lot of complaints about increased lag since the latest patch; I wonder if maybe these are even half way connected?

But yeah. If it persists I'll be making a new thread in the tech support thread, detailing my OS and how I play the game, how much I know when it crashes, yada yada. I was just curious if I was the only person having this issue since the new patch (which would therefore suggest it's only me with this problem) or if perhaps it wasn't limited to just me. xP

I also have lots of crashes, though it has gotten better lately. I will have the occasional bad night where I will crash every 10-20 minutes regardless if I am flying, fighting, standing still, in Arch or in the middle of nowhere. Usually i have 0 or 1 crash a night, which sad to say is now acceptable.

However, last night as soon as the Celestial Tiger event began (the announcements 30 minutes prior to start), the client started crashing within 5 minutes constantly. I was able to finish the event but it was VERY painful. However, for normal gaming, it is now unplayable. I had 3 crashes just checking the AH this morning. I will see what happens after the patch tonight.

Audio, video drivers are up to date, client has been verified many times. The client is just very unstable - always has been, always will be.
