We need to clear up Iron Chests

Most of you probably know what they are, if you don't than you havent hit FB29 yet :P. There are at least 4 of these Iron Chests in FB29, but there is seemingly no way to open them. On PWDatabase it says you need an Iron Key... but there is nothing in pwdatabase about where to get Iron Keys.

I wanted to ask once or for all, can anyone tell me if they've EVER opened one of these, or found this "Iron Key"? And I'm not talking about these random quest chests, or the Chest of Earth...

If a GM is reading this... do you know if Iron Keys are an item on the servers at all? And if so, where do we look for them? Thanks!!! b:laugh

    I have often wondered about these myself, but often I'm just clueless and miss things :P. I'd like to know too. My assumption is that they are for some quest that hasn't been implemented yet.

    I think they are quest related. Since the one to get a "painting" inside secret passage is a chest.

    On a somewhat related note, if you see a chest out in the wilderness surrounded by mobs, don't bother unless you know for certain you are on a quest to open it. I don't know what if any quests there are for these, but I wasted a lot of time in my earlier levels getting to the one out on Broken Plains and could not open it.

    I have wondered to I knew 1 person way back in the day who said he opened it i have no clue. But for those who are saying oh they are just in fb 29 i found one that has a mob around it. If i found out i will try to let you all know.

    Some random quests around the world can be opened.

    The rewards, however, are ****. I've only ever gotten poor pieces of 2* equip that is immediately NPC'd and not generally worth the effort of getting to the chest in the first place.

    Other chests can't be opened, and I've never gotten a specific quest for one if we discount the one for the painting, etc. etc. If the rewards are anything like the ones you get from the chests you can open, you don't miss anything.

    The best things those chest have are Beautiful shards unless I'm mistaken. If you could've opened those back in the day before cheap Flawless shards, you could have made a small fortune.

    actually there is one u can open over by i wanna say wellspring village.contains random **** like gold foil..stupid low lvl gear and maybe if you are lucky...franks and beans

    necroed but i thought i would answer this for you any way

    i asked about this once before around sanctuary server when i played on it and it turns out the ones that need the keys were part of an old event or quest that took place awhile ago. they removed the way to get the keys but never removed the chests for some reason

    one can only guess that since the chest are still there they might be reviving said quest or event some time in the future

    The chests are operable by acquiring keys from DQ. Unfortunately, they do nothing, nor are the keys available in game. They used to give items like rare gold armor, Rare all class pets (Hamsters, Dalmations turtles) Rare Veno pets a tradable egged Nix and herc. Was likely removed due to profit margins. b:surrender
    Apparently its more difficult to milk a smurf than originally conceived..
