how many players per class

I did some search for hte question "how is the distribution of classes" in PWI but did not find some usable answer. Is there some statistic that helps to "avoid" the classes that everyone has chosen (like veno) ;-)

Not real statistics, because many veno's are alts for example.
But check forum activity. The more active and different people on the class forums, the more the class is played.I'm famous! i'm on ecatomb0 -
I was thinking about it too. Maybe we can create another thread in here with a poll. The issues is that a lot of people have several alts. Maybe a poll asking for mains only? Just an idea. Might bring interesting results.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

yes, this could be getting interesting...I simply was unsure if the info is hidden somewhere. I just returned to PW after more than one year and have lost my chars on the malaysia server ... have to restart from scratch and dont want to play a class which everyone plays .
How do I set up a poll or is it admin only ?0 -

Oi. Like on the MY-EN version, this version seems to be lacking WBs/barbs and EPs/clerics. So either is fine unless you want a DD class.
Who were you over there, BTW? We have a guild set up on Harshlands server with some former MY-EN players.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The poll is easy to do. Any1 can do it.
When you post a thread, there is an option to add a poll. You choose the option and then type in the question and pick the answers. I believe you can edit your first post and (at the bottom) click add poll.
Lemme know if you won't figure it out. I will then go step by step explaining it where/how/what.

The majority of the playerbase doesnt check these forums out. Usually a game forum is interesting due to the GM/Dev~Player relationship, which is inexistant here. Any poll would just give a slight notion, but far from being close to a realistc number.PWI:

This is a stat that I wish PWI would publish. If they included everyone's alts on a particular account things would get quite muddled up. They need to count one char per account that gets the most gaming time, but exclude anyone below lvl 10 (so as to avoid 95% of the cat shops that are clerics that were immediately flown to arch after being created). And they would really need to weed out the total for characters that hasn't seen any activity in more than a week or two and those that are lvl 10-70-ish that haven't leveled in a month or more. If they could focus out the inactives and characters that don't really do anything they might be able to help people chose a class that would be more needed. Of course cleric would probably be #1.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0

And I'd say filter those out who are obviously multi-clienting or dual boxing... but then that would be self defeating as the server population is cut in half.

WB seem to be lacking and for good reason too. They have to deal with repairs + pots + slower kill rate.

no lack in clerics here
maybe clerics are natural born carebears and prefer PVE servers over PVP

to the person with the percentages (74% sins)
If you think Barbs are the 2nd highest population on the game, you are smoking some good drugs
as far as what class most of as a main...id say it goes something like this
1. sin
1. bm
1. veno
4. archer
5. wizzie
6. barb
7. psychic
8. cleric
Sins/BMs/Venos are oversaturated, Sins/BMs for their damage, venos because, well, they can solo damn near anything (waits for the $200 cash shop pet that can tank in water)
Barbs/Clerics have high charm usage in parties, repair costs, pots, and very little respect. I know on my barb, unless I am INCREDIBLY bored, I don't do anything for anyone thats not either in my faction or on my friends list unless I stand to gain from it. when I am bored however, Ill go and solo low level BHs and help with quests, all that fun garbage.
As far as the multiclient/box eprson....
Multi BOXING is LEGAL, which is having 2 (or more) computers, while multi clienting (altering the game to launch multiple copies) is not...get your facts straight.0 -

hmmm....seems I have opended a can of worms :-)
It is true that only GMs could give some solid (true ???) answer to char classes playing. But as correctly stated above, it makes no sense / is not interesting how many "defined" chars do exist, only the actively used ones are good. But on the other side - also said above - a poll will only show the chars that are reading this forum AND are willing to answer !
My idea was to see if I could choose a class that is NOTovercrowded and is nice to play / gives a new entertainment. So I started already a "psych" which is really fun ...but I do know that this can dramatically change in higher lvls .
Nevertheless I will try to set up that polling...but I have to create another threat as this is not allowed in a reply ...afaik0 -

I was part of a small guild with high rate of coming and leaving as TWs and PK were a real problem and caused lots of discussions ---> I HATE PKing :-)0 -

Lemme give you my philosophy on things that might help you pick a class.
First and foremost: the majority of people who play MMO games have ego issues. This is the basic rule of my philosophy on why some classes are popular and others are not. These arrogant people always want to win. Always. They want to live out this fantasy where they're some unbeatable beast and everyone is nothing compared to their own god-like skill, just like in the movies. This also means that if you kill them, then they get super pissed at you because you've shattered their ego. So what does this mean? Most people will choose a class that doesn't die easily so they don't ever have to face that shattered ego. If you're in a war and you deal very little damage to help your team or spend a lot of time in cover BUT you survive and never die, you look good. If you deal craptons of damage that's key to many of your team's attacks BUT you die every 2 minutes, you look weak.
For this reason, I'd definitely say Sins, BMs and Barbs are the most common by far. These are the only three classes that aren't incredibly squishy and low on HP. Sins are low on HP, but they have stealth and a recover-from-death healing spell to cover for that, and everyone plays them because they think sins are badass and everyone wants to be an invincible badass WHO DOESN'T PLAY BY DA RULES. b:cool (sound familiar?)
Barbs are of course hard to kill and BM's aren't easy kills either. On Harshlands there's basically a saying that every sin user has a barbarian alt character and vice versa. Why? Cause both classes are tough kills and both classes are plagued by arrogant players: those classes fit the idea of not dying perfectly. An arrogant player with a Psy alt would seem odd to me...I just can't picture someone arrogant (who isn't completely delusional) being able to put up with a Psy, cause they're so damn squishy.
If you made a BM though and simply used a polearm or a sword, that'd be fairly uncommon. The majority of BMs are axe/fist BMs.
So if you want a less popular class, stick to the squishies. Wizards are well liked and considered very strong BUT still not especially common because they absolutely suck balls in the lower levels and don't truly gain strength until 70+. I'd also be willing to bet that a good % of the high level wizards didn't make wizards as their first character, but rather went back and remade one after they had the resources to make leveling one easier/after they realized how strong they are late game. Psys are fairly rare because they're both one of the newer classes (along with sins, but people were so busy making sins they forgot about Psys) and they're usually the squishiest class of them all. Clerics and archers are fairly common: clerics because they're always needed and archers because they're a fairly good balance of survivability and killing ability (not to mention they play a pretty important role in TW). Still, they're not overly common. Venos are more than common because they too have fairly decent "tanking" skills, considering they can just send their pet at you and run away from you to avoid damage.
But whatever you do, don't make a sin. We don't need another one. I swear, you can't fight a single battle these days without 4 sins popping out and attacking you just as the battle starts, all of them ready to tell you about how awesome and skilled they are when you die.I AGOREY0 -

And when they die, they say it's because they lagged and couldn't enter stealth. Yes, even after being stunlocked for the whole time. b:chuckle100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

yet never met an arrogant high lvl psy , duh
real bms use all weapons + a bow b:victory

exactly! 1st char after installation > wiz (some people are simply attracted to magic ) > fail > roll everything > back to wiz
to psych: being squishie and hitting hard is the spirit of a wizard
having two classes like this and a limited amout of people who want this results in low numbers of players
also psy look is fishy and is hell costly, the other fish, compared, dealing more damage and pwning in pvp totally easy even with **** gear
i started ranting about psy when i first heard of them going to be implemented to the game, i started QQing at 90 when a 80 psy stole my aggro, so back to #1 ego b:surrender
but absolute non-factor to stabbie fish
Clerics and archers are fairly common: clerics because they're always needed and archers because they're a fairly good balance of survivability and killing ability (not to mention they play a pretty important role in TW). tbh archer looks a bit ****, at least male archers
but when u look at it, this class is awesome, requires real skill to play in pvp after 90
...i enjoy those archer pvp-videos most
i think people only roll archers when they already know this game, and saw the potential
who wants a slingshot or a stupid bow when you can have magic *BOOM*????
....and id like to add "mean venos are mean"
But whatever you do, don't make a sin. We don't need another one. I swear, you can't fight a single battle these days without 4 sins popping out and attacking you just as the battle starts, all of them ready to tell you about how awesome and skilled they are when you die.
been looking for a private server for quite some time
without Tideborn
but with lvl79 skills, genies, AND -TAB--auto target
but there is none! (not even with tideborn, no need to look for that )
so pwi is the best version of PW... some updates were really great
i just love Tab, cant and wont play without it...b:dirty

Ah I see. The name sounds familiar, but I'm pretty sure I didn't know you. And yeah, I can see why you wouldn't want to come to a PVP server then.

No, when you kill them they turn into psycho a-holes and stalk you for the next three hours.
But yeah sins are just friggin' ridiculous. I hope the people that play them realize that Perfect World truly has made the class just like the real life counterpart. A real life assassin kills via having patience and waiting for their opponent to be off-guard. Sins in Perfect World do the exact same thing. Maybe it's fun for them to kill and get away with it, but for the love of god, please realize that it's hella annoying to not be able to do ANYTHING (no fighting with someone else, no leaving buffs off for even a second, no killing mobs) just because a Sin is on your ****. Furthermore, I don't think I know anyone who gets killed by a sin out of stealth and thinks "wow that was pro," so no you're not impressing anyone by jumping the same two-shot arcane class over and over and over. You're just being a ****.I AGOREY0
