Are venomancers good at pvp without a nix or a herc?

Hi guys was wondering i am a venomancer and well i wanna be able to kill some ppl in pvp so is a venomancer good at pvp without a nix or a herc?

    With the current gear that level 100+ people have, you HAVE to be good enough to kill without those pets, or any pet for that matter. The pet will do almost no damage and die in 1 hit, even if its a phoenix/hercules.

    Clearly you are level 19 and not worried about level 100+ pvp yet anyway, but you should start working on your pvp skills now and try to kill without a pet to begin with.

    If you do it right, it can be done easily. At a high level you'll have to do it anyway.

    Success in PvP without a herc/nix is moreso based on what skills you get for the pet. A pet with Flesh Ream (Even if it isn't the uber-op skill it used to be at 100+, it's still one of the highest damaging pet skills) Pounce (An extra stun, yay) and perhaps a magic defense debuff would probably be great.

    Though I don't play a veno, so these are just assumptions.

    Zoe is correct, you should start thinking of pets as extra help or some bonus damage.

    I PvP without a pet all the time, mainly because I never had a proper PvP pet leveled (still using a level 56 sawfly b:sweat), of course when I do bring him out, he's more of a distraction so I can unload spells and debuffs onto the other player without interference. When used correctly, a veno by herself can be quite effective in PvP

    sawfly works just fine till 9x but once people refine seriously a nix would be a good investment

    (arc we're talkin competent venos here)
    Gifs are hard to make work here

    None of this no-pet pvp stuff please. You should/need to use everything you got for extra damage/stuns/debuffs. Got a pet? Use it. Got a genie? use it. Got pots? Use them. Putting yourself at a disadvantage on purpose just to show off your ego? Thats just stupid. Even in situations like zoe described, a pet is ALWAYS useful. It can be a stun/distraction.

    Purposely not using a pet is stupid. Its like telling other classes not to use some of their skills.

    Sorry but I can see you have never played a veno to a high level and used her to pvp. Pets are worthless. They can't even be used as a distraction since they do so little damage players will ignore them completely and simply 1 shot you.

    I see people do that in TW all the time. Those people with +12 gear (almost everyone) simply 1 hit me when I send in my bird.

    You are also pretty ignorant to think that pounce is actually useful. It can only be used once every minute. What are you going to do during the rest of the time when you can't use it? Oh, looks like you'd better learn how to win without it then.b:bye

    I have a veno in the 90s been in both open pvp and TW since 08. Both herc/nix. You yourself are the ignorant one. Anything and everything that has an effect is useful. Do you use sparks? Why? Learn to play without them. What are you going to do when you have no sparks? Same concept, you should use whatever you have. Pounce's 1 minute cooldown is not bad at all. Just because it has a 1 minute cooldown you wont use it at all? Your town teleport has a long cd, dont depend on that either. b:bye

    Hah no. I have a friend who's a fox veno, not robes. She has a Kowlin, but no Herc/Nix, and she kicks ***. The thing is, both phys and mag damage do very little on her. That plus bramblehood... scary stuff :X

    Any Veno who pk's without a pet gets smashed easily. Their mag attacks are the lowest hitting of all the mage classes (with the exception of Nova) and generally have to rely on kiting exclusively to try and survive.

    Even with pets, they have low survivabilty in 1v1 PvP. they're more or less a good support class in pk/tw.

    @ OP: A herc is generally a bad pet for PvP, especially agains't melee classes as it hits pretty low. The Nix is the best PvP pet money can buy.

    Good luck having even a phoenix be useful when everyone has +10 and up gear, because its not. They will simply treat your pet like it does not exist, making the difference between using a pet and not using a pet....zero.

    I'm arcane in only +4 TT 90 and I laugh at flesh ream from a phoenix its damage is so tiny.

    I'm in +3'd TT90 and Flesh Ream still hurts like hell >.>

    Im only lvl 80 with full hh80 gear all +6 and you know what flesh ream doesnt really hurt anymore. I dont even worry about pets anymore I just go straight for the veno. Pets to me are completely useless in my opinion. All i have to do is Double Spark and use stun and i pretty much 1 hit a veno so I personally wouldnt use the pets learn to pvp with out them.
