Um, what? The spirit and exp only affect mob kills, which pretty much means grinders and lower level players will be benefitting from it. After all, after 80ish, most of your exp comes from dailies or FCC.
As for not including the drops, that's actually a wise choice, since filling the market with stuff will cut down the prices and make it harder for non-cash shoppers to survive, which would indeed kill the game. Yeah, on a short notice, YOU might be getting that TT99 and the extra 50,000,000 coins to play with, but so will hundreds of others. And that's bad.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

Its not shocking that it would be this pridictable at all considering that its a company that is going the way of fish in the gulfb:bye so this just goes to show and you know it will be a long time till they change focus and go back to the actual people who play the game that keep them going although i would love to work for PWI do i see that happening, not really i doubt they would hire me.0

Today I woke up and was determined to play before I go out. While the game was updating, I was reading in the News Feed what was there, saw the wedding revamped thing and was like "Hey, not bad." Then saw "Sunshine Envelope and Tiger Pack sale" I was like "OH MY GOD OH MY GOD"
I mean like C'mon now...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Thanks for the localization and bringing over this awesome game.

Which is ran by PWE too, so how much would they care about that?
And about that, I don't have much hope left for FW either after all this.
It's basically the same with all their games: In beta they're all awesome, cash shop is present but it's never really so bad that it ruins the entire aspect of the game (like when hp/mp charms were basically the most popular items from the cash shop here).
Then when the game gets more and more popular PWE drops the bomb with some sort of pack (I heard there's tiger ''boxes'' in BoI now too).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

I'm just incredibly curious at how desperate you have to be in order to have a double pack sale, give yourself an extra week in your Facebook contest because you didn't make the deadline (which may I add also seems highly conceited to me and screams of "sore losers" for not reaching your goal in the time you thought you'd manage it) among just a couple of other things.
Airyll, we extended the deadline so that the players would still have a chance to be rewarded for their efforts. How is this conceited of us?0 -
frankieraye wrote: »Airyll, we extended the deadline so that the players would still have a chance to be rewarded for their efforts. How is this conceited of us?
As far as I was aware, this was a contest to see if you could hit 100k within a period of time. You set the standard yourselves based on past performance. Now correct me if I'm wrong but this is an advertising and marketing scheme. The more fans you have on Facebook, the more people are going to see you. The more people see you, the more people will potentially join the game. The more players join the game, the more potential customers you net who will put money into the company.
You reward people for becoming a fan on Facebook to entice people to help you market your product, not because it's any effort for a player to make a Facebook account, hit the "like" or "become a fan" button and then never look at your Facebook again. It's in your best interest to get as many fans as possible and how better to make people become a fan then say "Press a button, get a reward for helping us market our product!"
However, rather then just say "100k fans and you get this" you turned it into a contest. The situation goes from innocent to appearing conceited when you turn it into a contest and then, when you don't reach the number of fans you wanted to in that amount of time, you extend the deadline because it's in the company's best interest to get as many fans as possible. Not because it's in your interest to reward the people who made accounts to fan your Facebook.
Most contests do not extend their deadline because they didn't get what they wanted. That would be like somebody making an art or writing contest, and then saying "Deadline extended because I didn't see a piece of work I liked enough". It does appear conceited when it comes across like this, and it does make the company seem terribly desperate when you consider it this way.
And if it doesn't come across as conceited to some, I'm sure it comes across as a "sore loser" kind of attitude. You made a contest, you didn't reach the target in the deadline, and rather then accept the fact your contest was a failure and not enough people were interested in making multiple accounts to be 'rewarded for their efforts' you decide to extend the deadline. Simply because you didn't reach the reward you were looking for: your 100k fans to advertise and market for you via Facebook.
(Again, general "you" used in this thread, not you personally, Frankie.)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Well, they could have easily said, this is a new contest with the same requirement and same reward.0
-
Arliana - Dreamweaver wrote: »Well, they could have easily said, this is a new contest with the same requirement and same reward.
They could have, and it may have seemed slightly less conceited although equally as desperate.
The fact of the matter is that "rewarding our players for their efforts" is an exceptionally good cover for the fact this company wants 100k fans on Facebook because it's in their own best interest. They reward players for becoming fans because we probably wouldn't become a fan other wise, not because they're actually trying to reward us for pressing a "become a fan" button.
If they wanted 100k fans that badly, it should never have been turned into a timed event. Because no matter what happens at this point, it looks bad when you extend the deadline for a contest to get your own results.
Edit: I'm sure it also leaves some bitter and sour feelings on the company's part when they realise that they aren't getting half as many people to become a fan of their Facebook page and, because it would look bad if players weren't becoming a fan (because this would make people question why) they extend a deadline to try and lessen the damage and make it seem better than it actually is.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Why are you guys QQing about Sunshine packs? It makes absolutely no difference whatsoever. The pack sale time have not been extended (yet), and they have exactly the same things except for aeros. It's essentially having 2 buttons in boutique for packs instead of one. Seriously, all these "OMG more packz!".0

This was more so discussing the company's apparent desperation to make money and advertise themselves then it was "QQ packs". Good job![SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

PMS fail? I'm aware of the part about FB contest but you were the one mentioned two packs first. And look though this thread to see how many posts were actually about packs instead of the contest. I tried to multi-quote them all but there were too many and the forum failed. Not saying all of those were QQ, a few were, but it clearly shows what ppl were more focused on - two types of packs. And noticed I said "you guys" instead of "you", meaning it wasn't directed at your OP.0 -

You must have missed it, so I'll say it again: the mentioning of the two packs was again in relation to how desperate the company must be for money if it's deciding to have it's first sale of two kinds of redressed anni packs at the same time.
There were a few QQ posts with regards to the packs, but compared to the amount of posts in this thread there were not many. Many initial posts about the packs were picking on the fact I hadn't specificed what kind of pack exactly, thus the mention of Frost, Pan Gu and the rare pet packs. There was no QQ in any of those posts, either.
Let's quote:Seriously, all these "OMG more packz!".
When there have, considering the number of posts on this thread, been very few "OMG more packz!" posts.
And I was merely pointing this out to you. I never said you had actually been implicating me of "QQ more packs" at any point. Merely that your implication that that was what this thread was about is wrong.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I didn't mean to mark this thread as "QQ moar packs" if that's what it came across as.
Why should their ways of trying to get money bother you anyways? The FB contest's extension affects us very indirectly if any at all. They want more players badly, so what? The extension hardly has as large of an impact on the game as giving everyone perma 30% more damage for letting them post on wall of empty FB accounts that has no friends.
After all the things that's already happened, I honestly doesn't give a **** what they do anymore. I play this to have fun and I'm going to find ways to enjoy the game reguardless what they company does. I've grown numb. NOTHING will surprise me after the removal of genie reset quest with no warning. Those who didn't get the quest in the first week was left with useless genies. Hundreds of posts were written and Spoons promised actions but nothing was done. Eventually, months later, someone brought the thread back and Spoons said "This is definitely a necro, but the genie resets haven't been forgotten." Then, well, read for it yourself http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=444342&page=23
From then on, I didn't give a damn anymore.0 -

Awww... hey dere Grav!
Anywho. @ Okeano: Your initial post did seem to be marking the majority of the thread as a "QQ more about packs" thread, and this is what I was explaining against.
I don't really give a damn myself. This wasn't posted as a QQ thread in any form, it was posted as a thread simply asking if anybody else saw what I did. There's a big difference between recognising something and then complaining about it, and I'm really beyond complaining at this point. Customers are ignored, complaints do nothing.
Well, do nothing but get locked the majority of the time, anyway, and then shovelled away to the lower depths where they will be forgotten and rot and gather all the dust in the world.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

It is in our interest to reward the players who participated in the Facebook contest, because we want this event to be a positive experience for everyone involved, as we were all working toward a common goal. We don't want you guys to feel like it was all for nothing.Airyll - Dreamweaver wrote: »

To be honest, I don't think this analogy works-- to extend an art contest deadline for that reason would be disrespectful to the people who entered it, because they should be the only ones to get a legitimate chance to win it. Plus, there's only one winner. With this contest, either no player wins or all the players win, and we extended the deadline and lowered the goal to give the players a better chance of winning the prize.Airyll - Dreamweaver wrote: »

I fail to see the "sore loser" behavior on our part. A sore loser typically loses, then whines about how it wasn't fair, the other team's cheating, etc..
I realize that we didn't reach the original goal, but it's far from a failure. We still welcomed about 20,000 new facebook profiles to our community, and that's pretty substantial.
And if we can break the new 93,000 Fans goal (which I definitely think we can do), then we'll be able to thank you all by hitting the 2x EXP switch.Airyll - Dreamweaver wrote: »

conceited [kənˈsiːtɪd]
adj
1. having a high or exaggerated opinion of oneself or one's accomplishments.
I don't think that word means what you think it means.
And for the whole sore loser part, they could have easily said "Oops, you guys didn't reach the goal. Thanks for all the fans suckers!" Instead, they're still giving us time to reach that goal.0 -
It's been nothing but complain & flame from the OP.
They could just perm ban OP for being so ungrateful or "positive" as the GM put it...."Which was obvious sarcasm" b:laugh
I don't understand ppl complaining about contests & sales. You are not forced to participate or buy. "so whats the big deal?"
Furthermore they are holding these contests & Sales to keep the game *You are playing* running so again, why complain?
Pffft!!! I will play PWI long after FW starts or until the dreamweaver server is shutdown.
After reading all Airyll's posts here is what i translated from it's words:
I don't like PWE because they try to keep me playing a game i obviously like enough to complain about.

People want it now because they've gotten so used to it. Initially, it caused a lot of complaints because it flooded the market in terms of TT - mats once worth money saw severe dips in prices the more and more x2 everything we had.
These days, a few noobs who grew up in the era of x2 complain it's not here any more and QQ it's so hard to level without it, everybody else just accepts that it's going to be there and that the damage has already been done. T'is not the reward of the Facebook contest I laugh at, more so than the irony that they had to extend the goal and increase the reward because they're so desperate to reach their 100k goal.
