Hey
all past month i read \ that barbs become totaly useless at lvl90+. They cant tank becuz cant hold aggro. Everyone talking about 5 aps and how they can triple spark whenever they want.
My question is, how many such ppl are at late game stage? i mean, is everyone, bm/archer is a 5 aps fist/claw user, all mages have +10 stuff? Or they are just some really small minority?
i keep reading about how barbs are useless and thinking about making new char, probably DD. So is it worth to stay as a barb at all?

5aps is really only OP in PVE, and if you gear for that yourself for endgame you can perform just as well as a BM. Game changes also come and go, so keep that in mind as well. Should the developers cap max attacks per second, or release another slew of -int equipment, things could change rather quickly.
PvP axe barbs, either high HP or high or high vit can perform quite well, even without 5aps.
Just know that at end game, tank build barbs don't do much tanking anymore.0 -
I typically squad with a 101 wiz, 99 veno, 93 BM and a few others in the 9X range on an almost daily basis. The wiz has resorted to using low level NPC weapons to avoid stealing aggro, the BM and I will trade aggro left and right...but we'll communicate what we're doing. If he steals aggro and wants to hold it, I just go human and sage spark for more DD.
So no, barbs aren't useless...but within squads if there is no communication it may seem that way. As DDing barbs, we have to be aware of the tank and be ready to grab aggro if tank dies for whatever reason. So we have roles within the squad, but there are many squads that don't "NEED" a barb to tank...especially if the squad members are well aware of their roles and perform them well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

It like Fuzzy say in another thread..
If you are a good tank that people respect, you will have no trouble tanking anything you want at end-game. Fuzzy runs with everything from 5aps BM's to Sins with rank 8 weapons to psy's with +11 Nirvana weapons.. Just need to decide who is going to tank before starting to run. If they know they are with a good barb, odds are they won't care if you tank and will manage their own damage accordingly. Likewise, if any of them want to tank, Fuzzy isn't going to run in tiger form and be spamming roar and alpha male.
Just build a good reputation and good friends as you progress to end game and not only will you be able to tank anything and everything PWI has to offer, others will be happy to let you do it.

well im mostly interested in PvE. Im not a CS and i never be one. As far as i can see barbs dont even need refine weapons cuz almost all skills do not involve weapon dmg..
btw, is it worth it to go for an endgame with axes which have a recover 5% hp proc?
and ive heard that even nirvana can be soloed by archers and/or mages. Is it possible for a barb solo tt or nirvana?0 -

TT absolutely and you don't even need to restat for claws. Fuzzy has run solo through every squad mode TT up to 2-3 so far... me a bit nervous to try 3-x until Nirvana gear is completed thou.
As for the Nirvana instance itself, the last boss where you need to dig the elemental chests could be a bit tricky if you are alone in there (Fuzzy not in game atm, can't remember its name) but honestly, it wouldn't appear to be impossible to solo..

since we begun to talk about soloing...so how it goes? i mean what lvl i need to be to try give a shot to tt1-1, what skills/apoth items need/advised to use? tiger or human form? smth like that share with me ur wisdom b:laugh
im currently lvl73 barb0 -

At your level you can try tt1-1 solo, and see how it goes. Just work your way up from there until you find your limit, never fear death, too many people are afraid to die in this game. I have done TT2-3 a lot starting around level 89, during 2x drops to farm mats for coin. I have done up to 3-1 and lunar solo. You learn a lot about survival tanking, and I have no fear running Fb79 bosses or certain FF bosses should the cleric dc or somehow die.0 -
so ive tried 1-1 solo. Chintien had mag attack and hit me about 800-1.1k. So its not kinda impossible..0

i find theres a huge difference between survival tactics when soloing, and trying to do the same while holding aggro off a full squad of full out damage dealers when the only cleric dies on bosses like Soul Banisher and Drums. Generally if that happens though I cut back on reams a lot and hope the DD gets the idea I need to build spark for invoke and sunder.
on that note, if you plan to solo TT bosses (not sure the level requirements on some of this stuff) carry some crab meat jiaozi, get Tree of Protection and solid shield on your genie, level your sunder and frighten, perfect your timing with alacrity of the beast, carry chi pots.
theres likely more useful stuff out there I'm not thinking of/never bothered to use.. but those are all things I use myself (with the exception of never carry chi pots). ToP, solid shield, sunder, invoke, and the best HP pots money can buy are the staples you should never be without though.. and they work wonders in places like Astral Walker (last boss of 2-2) when your squad isn't taking aggro from any of the adds. (had all 6 on me last night, plus the boss) My squad was seriously nervous that I'd bite the dust, but I pulled it off magnificently.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
