Okay, really...why?

Maybe I should just post this right to the assassin board, but since this is barb related I'm putting it here.
What is the deal with assassins deliberately doing everything in their power to fight for aggro?
Here's my issue: Almost every assassin I squad with seems utterly determined to prove that they can out aggro me. Sometimes they succeed, sometimes they don't. But why bother in the first place? For god's sake. Everybody in the squad already knows you do more damage than I do, I'm aware of it too, so what is with the constant competition? Seriously.
The assassin in the BH squad I had today was level 89, and was using demon sparks, genie skills, even apothecary items, to steal aggro as much as he possibly could. I know he was deliberately doing it because several times he stated how I can't hold aggro over him. Well congratufreakinlations. I already knew that. It happens on noxtouch, no problem, it happens on pyro, no problem. But the guy does it on polearm and dies immediately. Now the cleric has to stop healing me to resurrect his idiot self. I don't encounter psychics like this, not even fist bms. So what is the deal with the assassin class acting this way? What's the point of forcing aggro onto yourself if you're just going to get flattened?

Tell the cleric to not heal him or res him.
If a sin wants to steal aggro he better be prepared to handle it, and if he wants to tank he should state so before the boss starts.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

The only way they'll learn is if you let them die after they repetitively stole aggro on purpose. That's what I'm doing in another mmo where one of my mains is a feral tank, "you pull it you tank it".
They're already stupid for doing everything they can to steal aggro, when they perfectly know they can't tank. If on top of that they can't even understand what they're doing wrong then they can leave the raid. If they don't want to play as a team what are they doing there?
So like Rawrgh said tell the cleric not to heal/res them.0 -

bloodpaint and purify with 3 spark + your buff = the sin was an idiot for not being able to survive
add on the fact that they can reset all aggro with stealth and the sin was just special
though admitedly i really dont try to hard to check aggro once i have that sexy hp buff either (the Q.Q's are amazing though)Gifs are hard to make work here0 -

Well this is part of my point. If they take aggro and they can tank it, fine, I have no problem with that. Let them tank, it saves my repair bill. BM's usually do alright, assuming the cleric is fast enough to heal them. But against polearm an assassin isn't really going to live that long. Now idk about 100+ but in the 8x range they won't, unless maybe they have ridiculous gear.
My problem is that them taking aggro causes issues during the boss fight. If the sin takes aggro and has to get res'd, and I die during that time (unlikely but it could happen if I got debuffed at the same time) then the whole squad goes down.
To be honest though I just wonder why they get so adamant about it. Why put so much effort into taking aggro away, on anything really?
EDIT: Also the thing about telling the cleric to not res doesn't always work. I can kind of understand the point, but rather than having to go that far, wouldn't it be easier to just not do things like demon spark? By combining Flesh Ream, Devour, Roar, and Untamed Wrath into the aggro combo, they really have to work at it to take aggro.0 -
Fuzzy knows where you coming from Kaiiran.... for some odd reason it does seem to be a prevalent problem with the sin class alone... it does make this barb wonder...
But honestly, the best solution is to run with the people you know. Fuzzy runs lots of different instances with different friends. Sometimes me 5aps bm friend tanks, sometimes me freaky-deaky powerful psy friend tank. Other times Fuzzy tanks. We just decided who will do what and govern our skill use accordingly.
There are bravado ridden players of every class so just avoid em. If you squad with friends etc., and are a trusted tank and let em know you wanna do your job, they won't care and will govern their own damage accordingly.
...at least thats the kind of players Fuzzy runs with.

o.o Lol, today while doing a 3-1, had a level 101 sin pretty much tank almost the whole thing. Without a cleric. XD Was crazy, and awesome, but totally not recommended. I tanked maybe 25%-50% of most of the bosses health with my Herc then he jumps in and shreds the rest to bits. Really scared me the many times he evaded death...but like I said, it was pretty awesome.

o.o I don't know why PW won't just allow barbarian skills generate more hate so to keep aggression. .-. And you know, as much as I would personally hate to do it, if someone wants to keep trying to play aggro pong with you, flaunting what they could do and risk their life...let them. s: His own fault if he dies o.o And it's part of the reason why I stopped playing my assassin...because it is VERY easy to steal aggro if you're not paying attention. Just do what you do best and just try to keep aggro.0 -
Go human and let 'em die.
If I get the "you can't hold aggro from me" statements, I agree and say "ok, you're tanking." It's usually followed by either an "ok" or "but you're the tank." b:laugh[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Mmm this chinese food is delish.
Anyway, yeah it is pretty prevalent with Sins, idk what their issue is. I usually resort to some of the above mentioned tactics but really it does make you wonder.
I also experienced some issues with Pole/nobs casting times when sins were in my squad, idk if that was Ribstrike (or w/e that skill is called) doing it...0 -
If they can actually tank, let them. If they steal aggro by accident once or twice, you can brush it off. When they do it a third time, let them know they need to slow down a bit. If they're purposefully taking aggro off of you and can't tank themselves, accidentally forget to try and take aggro back from them until after they've died, run out of chi, have all your aggro skills on cooldown, or lag. If they still don't get the message, simply tell your squads cleric not to bother ressing them.XylolyX - Heavens Tear wrote: »If I get the "you can't hold aggro from me" statements, I agree and say "ok, you're tanking." The only time I'll put up with an aggro competition is if it's me and a group of friends just **** around because we feel like it. Otherwise the choices I give them are control their DPS (which is freakin easy to do for a assassin with chill + auto-attacks), or tank it themselves.0 -
Really, It's alot of well i'm bigger than you. Alot (not all ) bm's tend to have "size" issues when it comes to tanking. I can't tell you how many times i've been told "well i'm a fist bm just let me tank because you can't hold my aggro" I hate that. It's like Oh? mr random Bm i've never run with before? do you KNOW me ? Have you SQUADED with me before? I don't think so. SO shut up and let me do my job, because I will be HAPPY to unzip my pants and compair who's is bigger.
If a person wants to tank...and their nice about them..it's a whole different story, I've got archers and wizards and ya a few bm's who just like to try stuff out every now and then....and it's really fun, when they succeed. It just gets annoying when you have arrogant bossy bms/sins who just assume you suck.
(I've gotten alot of flack for being sage, but the truth is, you wont find a better tank that isn't completely cleric dependant if alot of **** goes down)
