Barb or BM?

I realize the subforum I'm posting this in, so there's going to be some bias.

So I've never made a barbarian or a blademaster. I don't want to go through the trouble of making both and leveling them simultaneously.. so I just want opinions.

And btw, what is damage output of an endgame barb compared to an endgame BM? Is it a huge difference, or no?

Keep in mind that barbs are likely going to be asked to be tanks. BM's are for the full damage dealing role.

From what I heard, many say that it's worth leveling a barb since their damage output may outtdo any class IF gear correctly.

With BM's, I never played one enough to give an informative opinion, but I do believe they provide a good damage output.

If you go claws on 99, with right gear, you will out DPS anything as a barb, no class have the same sort of survivability as barbs, but god going claws as barb is expensive. So if you are ready to put a lot of money on your toon, then claw barb > BM. But if you talking about the normal axe barb, then no, you can`t keep aggro from lunar claw BM, when they get to permaspark -int, pre that it`s doable, not fun, but doable. So difference in dps is quite high

But meh, I have 5x BM alt, with fists. I totally love fists, but I actually love barb more and been planning on restatting to claws. Not the cheapest path but meh, I love claws & barb, I know it can work so why not, making the money for it, god, I prolly still need few months for it. But if your looking for cheap DPS, go for BM, if you like being meatshield that can take hits, more than ppl think, go for barb.

Ps. BMs can tank stuff in endgame and at some point, claw/fist BMs will be more wanted to tank stuff than barbs, only that is more wanted is claw/fist barb =). Time to thank this game what is just that broken =p.

The gameplay of barbs differs quite alot from BMs. During the early stages the BMs shine with their excellent grinding skills, whereas the barbs are hard to level, the reason being lack of dex and damage skills. But the main boost that a barb receives in leveling is attributed to his role in squads - tanking. So although you don't dish out damage early on, you will still level easily with zhenning and such. Once the toon reaches 70+ (77 to be precise) with calamitys, misty forest rings, amazing survivability and AOE skills, the barbs start shining in grinding, soloing and PvP. The "tank" aspect of the barb remains till late game.

If you compare the axe BM and barb then the BM out damages a barb (who isn't a regular DD class) purely based on the skills. But as WnbTank pointed out, a fist barb with the same -int gear as the BM would not only do almost the same amount of damage, if not more, but would also have much greater survivability.

If you go demon the best skills, in terms of damage and buffs that they provide you, that you can obtain for an axe barb, comparable to that of the BMs, would be Beastial Onslaught (35% crit increase b:shocked), Armageddon (biggest melee DPH skill in the game - get ready to one shot even BMs with this b:dirty) and Sunder (high DoT, 6 seconds of non stop crits AND heal yourself). Good luck with your choice.

I like barbs more than BMs. Always BHsquads/TT/more need some barb to tank the bosses and I think barbs are more powerfull than blademasters. I have level 63 barb and I love it, pecause when im PK I can take all my levels down whit my full lvl skills. b:pleased

I also love the tiger form what blademasters cant use ^^

Don't let all the talk of -int classes tanking all end-game instances get you down.

Trust Fuzzy, if you build your barb properly and learn your skills, people will never say no when you offer to tank anything.

Doesn't matter if its Delta, Nirvana, Warsong, 3-3, SoT, Abaddon, etc etc etc..

A true barb can tank anything that can possibly thrown their way. Do it well, people will recognize it and you will never have a problem getting any instance you want done.

Agreed, -int is overated anyways. But it doesn't mean bms can't tank without -int either. I just figure -int and -chan is for jerk wanna-bes who think they own the game.

Fuzzy is absolutely right. Barb is the assigned tank of the game regardless of the level/instance. If you like being in the front of the squad, leading it, then hon your skills and no squad will say no to you.

By "late" game I actually meant "end" game. So that ensures your instance runs throughout the game.

Barb is a tank par excellence, no other class does it better or easier.
Did I said before I can drink my tea while tanking bosses? Just need 1 of my fingers pushing to hotkeys. Lol.
Yeah, Barbs rocks if u build them right!

IF money is no object, barbs have a build that destroys all! Even if you just get as close to this build as you can it's definitely the ultimate end game build for any class.

This build also lets you use G13 nirvana claws as well.
