PWI at max settings + 4x AA

Okay, so what I am looking for is a graphics card that will do the things mentioned in the title at 30 FPS or higher (Including west arch and Tideborn city).
So far, I'm looking at GeForce 9800 GT 1 GB GDDR3 to buy, but I'm not sure if that'll do the things mentioned above.

If that graphics card isn't enough, then please suggest another one that can do it, but is not too expensive.
Budget: $110

My system specs:
OS: Vista 32 bit home edition
CPU: Intel Pentium D 2.80 GHz Dual Core
RAM: 2 GB DDR2 PC2-4300
Graphics card: GeForce 9500 GT 1 GB DDR2
Power Supply Unit: 300W (Runs my 9500 GT fine, which requires 350W though)

Current FPS with max settings is 8 at a normal grinding area.
Any suggestions to up my FPS would be great too (I do all system tweaking, have no virtually bothering startup programs, my computer has no viruses, etc., so I'm looking for hardware changes, not software).

    Necro? You surely mean bump.
Now if you will excuse me... and sorry if I did not utter anything useful here. I sadly know not much about such high-end equipment.
Maintenance time. Please choose a line:
    - When is it over? OMG I need my fix!! *super spazzing*
    - Fix the damn bugs, dammit! I'm so angry! I'll quit!!
    - New codes out there? I like free stuff~ *wink*
    - When will we get new content? QQ
    - Will we get sales? I got a ton of gold to spend.
    - I'm bored, I'll create a useless thread to annoy Opkorock.

    Eh....
Me would suggest switching from Vista to mayhaps Win7, getting a bit more RAM, and a stronger PSU. (Just suggestions though, without an in depth diagnostic me can't determine which part needs to be upgraded and whatnot.)

    Also...just 8 FPS? o.O'
    That can't be right.

You seem to has a bottleneck somewheres in your system.
The videocard should be performing better.

Me suspicions would fall toward the PSU. But workmanship matters quite a bit more then amount of Wattage it provides. (Me support team once spent 4 months reverse engineering a shoddy PSU which nearly shorted out me power supply (that be bad)......We probably should use inhibited solar power or something but....fusion power be easier to obtain.)

The only thing I can suggest is switching over to a GeForce 220 series. I have it in my own computer back at my house and it runs almost everything (distance is set at like 3 instead of 5) at max.

Along with that, if you increase the RAM and a few other items (you should be able to tell which when you fiddle around with it), the game will run at almost lightspeed.

Ofc, viruses and such may affect that, but usually they don't >_> (at least not on mine)

Okay, so someone states that the PSU is the problem, and I don't think RAM is the problem, since it's not really "full" all the time.
I suppose my PSU is the problem! I've searched my computer on the internet, and the cons said 300W PSU, and on the reviews, people who have said that they replaced it with something like a 500W PSU can play WoW 1280x1024 max settings no lag and all they have is a 7600GS graphics card.

Also, the person did not upgrade their RAM to 2 GB, it was originally 1 GB, so I guess the PSU could be the main problem. I can't tell how much the max Amps is of the PSU, but I can tell you that it is an old generic 300 watt PSU.

However, does PSU really matter THAT much?

    Again, QUALITY PSU matters.
There be a few 500 W PSU which will wreck your system if you be not careful...me
modeled me old one after a faulty 500 W PSU (Me spent days getting me paws on that unit too....do you know how hard it is to lift a square piece of metal around with only minimal stealth gear?)

Which nearly shorted out me portable fusion generator....tech support thought that it was suppose to do that and didn't warn me. *facepaw*
Well at least they get the job done quite well and quickly.

So I see the graphics card problem was a mistake that I've made, it's actually the Power Supply I guess.
Can someone recommend me a quality PSU that's under $110 and hopefully 500W or more?

As you can see the graphics :
Integrated AMD Radeon HD 4200 graphics
    - DX10.1 class iGPU, Shader Model 4.1
    - Max. shared memory 512MB
    - Integrated 128MB side port memory for iGPU
    - Dual VGA Output: Support DVI-D and D-Sub ports by independent display controllers
    - Supports Dual-link DVI with max. resolution up to 2560x1600 @ 75Hz
    - Supports D-Sub with max. resolution up to 2048x1536 @ 60Hz
    - Supports HDCP function with DVI-D port
    - Supports Full HD 1080p Blu-ray (BD) / HD-DVD playback with DVI-D port

450 W Trendsonic power supply, 2 GB DDR3 RAM at 1333 MHz *damn it's good*, Windows 7 Ultimate 32bit, AMD Athlon x2 250 @ 3.0 GHz with 2 mb cache memory. I`m pretty happy with this one, don't really have problems around PWI, but in Archo it's almost hell >.>

PS : Sorry, forgot about ur post ^^ So you can try out with the video card, but it still might be laggy because of the power it receives.

Please keep in mind that changing the power supply will NOT increase processing power, fps or whatever you're trying to increase.

If the PSU is too weak you'll get mysterious crashes, usually under high load. Or the PSU might just turn off. But that's it.

    EDIT:

Ouch... **** like this wouldn't even make it on the shopping list as a candidate. 70% efficiency? Just about every quality PSU nowadays has an 80+ logo on it... and while this only applies for 20% load and up, Coolermasters "typical load operations" doesn't suggest they guarantee it for the full range.

Note that high efficiency doesn't just mean lower electricity bills --- it means less power being used to generate excess heat, which means easier cooling.
Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng

Hm... my computer doesn't get mysterious crashes or just turn off, but I'm pretty sure with my specs, it should be able to run PWI max settings nicely.
See the first post for my computer specs, and the thing is, my graphics card is supposed to run with a 350 Watt Power Supply, but since it is 300 Watts, I thought my graphics card couldn't dish out the fullest potential.

Any way to test whether I need to upgrade my power supply or not? If I don't need to, what really is the problem?

why u ever ask about this on pwi forums.. would you try to get that info from some random people meet on street also?

im not pc geek, but even i can tell u that:

    - with this very old cpu u can forget about any serious improvement of your graphic power (cpu will be bottleneck)

Specifically, I was hoping to have at least SOMEONE who has a computer with max settings that has a clue on what hardware problems I have in THIS forum. One thing is for sure though, I do not have a full load on my CPU (consumes 60% in west arch while the element client window is active, and I'm pretty sure this game optimizes multi-core). I did not ask a PC geeks forum because most of them are likely to play WoW or some other game that I do not really care about and they'll keep making references to those. Also, I never expect west arch to be smooth, even when my graphics card runs at full value.

It would have at least been helpful if you could list some quality PSU brands, because I looked at my PSU, and there was no brand name on there, it was generic.

on pc geeks forums dont search for info about certain game, but what is best gpu u can use with your cpu

so cpu wont be bottleneck for gpu, and gpu - for cpu

you will get few card names, and anything above will be money/power waste

you could mention game name, or that it is mmo but that really dont matter very much

    and about psu.

i dunno US brands, but i can give you some names from forums i used when i bought my pc:
Be Quiet, Tagan, Topower, Thermaltake, Zalman are one of best brands (but they are most expensive ofc)

also various models from Amacrox, Antec, Corsair, Fortron, Modecom, Tacens will be cheaper and very good for 'normal' use (no extreme OC)

anyway, you can forget about psu since it would eat big chunk of your budget :P

and about your hardware problems (f.e. is it normal you have such low FPS with ur stuff) i cant help you much

    According to this site:
    http://extreme.outervision.com/PSUEngine
It says the recommended wattage is 406 Watts, but I'm running this without any random crashes or anything with a generic no-brand 300 Watt.
Can someone explain this to me?

Also, I don't think the CPU and GPU are really bottlenecks for each other because the CPU's not at something like 90% usage.

Is this motherboard perhaps the problem?

    Old Rig:
    Intel Pentium D 820 2.8Ghz
    2GB Ram
    400w PSU
    Radeon HD5770

while grinding i would have low fps. And even lower in West arch and in TW.

I upgraded my processor to a Intel Pentium E6500 2.93Ghz

Now i can run max settings and not much lag in west arch or in TW.

They say pw doesn't require much processing power, but that seemed to have done it.

    Upgrade your cpu :)

Now i can run max settings and not much lag in west arch or in TW.

They say pw doesn't require much processing power, but that seemed to have done it.

    Upgrade your cpu :)

Okay, well you have a graphics card that is extremely superior to my graphics card, so maybe my CPU is the problem. My computer doesn't randomly crash either, so it may not be my PSU.

UGH this is getting so complicated, I can't determine what thing is the problem!

Edit: I do suppose my CPU is outdated because in order to test if your CPU bottlenecks the GPU, try playing the game at different resolutions, and if the FPS is the same, then it is the CPU bottlenecking, and yes, the FPS was same.

The lag is because of the video card. The processor sends the binary code to the RAM, then the memory sends it back to the processor, and then the processor sends it to the video card, and the video card turns this binary code into graphics, and if the video card is not quick enough, then lag happens.
I've been working as a computer technician for a while. From distance we can only suppose from where the problem might be coming, so you better talk to a friend who can check it instead of listening to us.

Thank you all for trying to help, but I've came to the conclusion that, it's time to buy a new computer.
If I need to upgrade the CPU, then I need to upgrade the motherboard, because this is the max my motherboard can support. If I upgrade my motherboard, the RAM i'm using will not be supported, and I may need to upgrade to DDR3. My power supply would also need to be better to support all that.

Basically said, I need a new computer.
