Axe Bm & Cleric Duo

That's probably my favourite pairing!

Whenever I feel like doing quests with my Cleric I always ask my axe BM friend if she's free so we can do them together. I wait for her to gather a lot of mobs and start using all of her AOEs while I stay back and heal (sometimes using my AOE skills as well).
That's the most fun in my opinion. I always loved AOE no matter if I'm the one doing it or watching others doing it.

In general BM + Cleric is the best pairing because it's fun no matter what weapon the BM is using (but most of them usually use more than one). A barbarian would be safer but killing is so slow that gets boring. Other classes such as Wizards or Archers can kill fast but they can't really AOE to many mobs because not even heals will save them. Fighting 1v1/2v2 mobs is just not fun enough. Venomancers are the most boring to pair with since you won't be healing much. I heard Assasins are fun,too.

In terms of builds, if you are going to fight beside a BM most of the time going Pure Mag (lots of magic points, no vitality points) or Hybrid (lots of magic points, some vitality points) is the best choice. You won't be tanking unless it's magic mobs and you'll have great magic defence, they'll be easy for you. Your magic attack will also be high so you'll have great healing (perfect for a BM who AOEs a lot of mobs).

I myself always paired up with an axe BM friend of mine to AoE grind for exp (when bounty hunter and the like weren't around yet).

I was about level 60 and he was 80 or so, I could still heal more than enough though.
Since he wouldnt be making much xp at all and I wasn't making any expenses all drops were his, I made about 20% an hour (a lot at the time) and he made about 800k coins an hour from DQ's. Quite a win-win situation.

If you really want to focus your build around this then a pure cleric would indeed suit you best. You will most likely be flying above your BM friend so you won't take any hits at all.
For the rest you might aswell follow a normal cleric build.

at lower levels most things are physical, bm kills, cleric heals and helps dd if possible
at mid and high levels more and more things are magical and you finally have access to aoe skills on decent level (if you can kill several at once why try one-by-one?) so bm and cleric can take turns tanking

build: cleric who knows they have their own personal tank can go pure (or almost pure) mag build and be ok, just need enough hp and pdef to survive aoes and random aggro from bossess (sharding and refines)
cant really say much on bm builds, apart from the fact that most use several weapons for versatility, and if you want to use both fists and axes all points have to go into str and dex and hp comes from sharding and refines (build guides on bm forums will surely be good place to look that up)

it was already said that you can go pure or almost pure. you will just have to shard and refine when aoe from bossess will be too much for you...
on hard targets you spam ih like on any tank (except pet ofc)
on easy targets you heal tank, and dd and debuff target.
difference between healing bm and healing barb: barbs usually have more hp, so you have bigger safety margin. with bm on hard bossess you must be right on time, no misclicks and no lags. but with bm tanking boss goes down faster...
