Paracitic nova

TBh its useless until you zhenn or do FF... for normal mobs farming/questing you dont need it (can use it but its not a necesity) . but once you start doing FF/RB you will necessarly need it.

Parasitic Nova is not useless at all. There's no useless skill. They all have something to offer in the right place, the right moment.

Like Andromaka said, when you grind/farm/quest you don't really need it (unless you feel like doing some AOE party). Using spark eruption and lucky scarab or ironwood will make it go way faster. I'd suggest it to buy it when you have the money and keep it at level one or two. If you're planning on doing rebirth gamma level up parasitic nova at lvl 70s (just mentioning gamma because gamma and delta seem to be the one people do the most). If you plan on doing FCC runs but not RB you can start leveling it by lvl 80.
Or you can simply level it up whenever you have spare money if you don't want to leave it "out of date" compared to the other skills.

Parasitic nova is wanted in RB/FCC because it has the ability to seal multiple mobs and making them take more damage at the same time. Combined with a BM's HF skill, it's awesome!

Just so nobody is confused/mislead, the extra damage effect is only on the Demon version of Nova. The seal effect is on all versions (the "chaotic" effect is essentially a seal/stun).

For regular grinding, the 2-spark cost makes the skill useless. you'll do more damage using the sparks as an eruption and firing off your regular skills.

For easy AOE killing, again the 2-spark cost makes the skill difficult to justify. I suspect saving the sparks for Noxious Gas will yield more damage than squeezing a Nova in between.

Where Nova shines is when you can really use the seal effect. It's most useful in difficult AOE where the seal will cut down the damage your group is taking from mobs. But has its place against single targets too (e.g. stopping bishops from casting in FC in between Lucky's cooldown). It's also handy in PvP since it's effectively (a 67% chance at) an AOE stun.

Costs a fortune to level it though (a bit over 4 mil to get it to level 10).

Even if you're not HA veno, Myriad rainbow fox form is way too good to overlook. AoE instant cast that only costs 30 chi. Can have the chance to cause armor break and magical break. Even without those two, it can cause poison DoT and bleed as well. Extremely useful in tight AoE situations and very fun to use in FCs, where things can be sped up.

Parasitic Nova is the best skill venomancers have. It's very useful in pve and pvp. Like many people have already said: for frost and rebirth instances people will expect you to have maximum level available. Nova is as good as a BM aoe stun, so it can save lives and even replace a BM in frost. In PvP this skill could turn the tide of a battle if seal hits. At level 10 if your target gets sealed you get 8 seconds of free shots.

What is even better than Parasitic Nova is the demon version of this skill. Any target that gets sealed will also receive 30% more damage.

Frost scarab MIGHT be used in PvP. Think it was demon that it was somewhat decent. But still don't think it's worth it :P

None of the regular veno spells will work on wood-immune mobs. Both Blazing and Frost have a wood DD component. That is resisted and prevents the non-wood DoT from being applied. Same for Ironwood. The wood DD is resisted preventing the debuff from landing.

The only non-melee veno damage I've gotten to stick on a wood-immune mob is the fire DoT on Myriad Rainbow. The mind and armor breaks can land too, but not the poison DoT.

That's right! XD A lot of times I find myself using it just because it's cool.

If you've got the sparks, it's great. Use it. And noxious builds a lot of chi, so that's good.

It's rarely a good idea to open with it though - you tend to steal aggro rather a lot.

Nova, Frost, Noxious love them all. I'm sage so I'm usually getting chi so fast it doesn't matter. Sage nova while not granting the extra damage of Demon allows for a % chance (can't remember the % atm) for using one spark not two. So that would be sweet in RB, BH. I know I use Nova in Warsong consistantly when we pull a group. Frost has that lovely additional water damage of 3k+ (I think ... sorry don't have game logged to check) at lvl 10. Granted I didn't lvl that one up until after I had 3 sparks.

Nova has saved my squads a few times due to aggro exchanges and my personal purpose of making sure the cleric doesn't die.
