Soulsmasher or Broad Land?

Is Broad Land so much better then Soulsmasher or the difference is not so big..? (as i see a lot of people wearing a Broad Land and i havent seen no one wearing a Soulsmasher)
main Differences:
Soulsmasher:
- dmg 667-1238
- has a chance to greatly increase physical attack at the cost of loosing 5%mp
- interval between hits -0.05
Broad Land:
- dmg 755-1403
- has a chance to greatly increase physical attack at the cost of reducing physical defence
- Dexterity 14~15
1. So we see Broad Land deals more dmg, but the difference is not so big, only like ~180
2. Here i think it is better to lose 5% MP then to have reduced phy def.. Especially if you are out to PK..
(i dont know how much phy. def is reduced, so it would be nice info also...)
3. here both have nice add'ons.. Interval between hits is pretty good for archers i think, but i dont know if 0.05 make some difference :S
But i like the dexterity thing more at the Broad Land, cause it will give like almost +1% crit rate.. and also slightly more dmg...
I know that i am not so close to lvl 80/85, but with what this game has turned in to, if i want i can be there in like a week.. The main reason why i ask this is cause i am too poor with coins, cause of the fast leveling i didnt managed to get much coins with this archer.. And if i would need to get a Brad Land bow i would have to start to collecting coins now all until i get to lvl85, cause i see it cost way up to 15mil and i dont even got a 1 mil.. And with Soulsmasher i would need like 2-3 mil at most (hopefully)..
So what do you think, is Soulsmasher a nice bow to have, or you think that it is better to work my **** out in this game (>_<) so i could get that Broad Land bow...
Thank you forward..

It's also of a higher grade so it refines better, especially at higher refines.2. Here i think it is better to lose 5% MP then to have reduced phy def.. Especially if you are out to PK..

Well, for PK, the loss of phys def is indeed unfortunate, but for PvE purposes, it's great, as Archers mostly grind on magic mobs to begin with.3. here both have nice add'ons.. Interval between hits is pretty good for archers i think, but i dont know if 0.05 make some difference :S

The interval can be the difference between getting 6 hits in 10 seconds or getting 7 hits in 10 seconds. The more -interval you have, the better any additional ones you get will be.
The dexterity adds to the DPH potential of Broad Land and comparing DPS and DPH to each other isn't exactly valid, since DPS is just DPH * attack rate.
There are also other factors. Crimson Horn: Soulsmasher auto-binds to character so you can never re-sell it, whereas you can re-sell Broad Land. Also, Broad Land is good enough to be used until 95 or 99 when you'll most likely be getting your next weapon.
And if you get your Broad Land by buying Pasts of Frostcovered City, you can get Broad Land for about 10,000,000 coins.
Though, there is also a third option: Vast Land. It's weaker than Broad Land by default, but it's better than TT90 crossbows if you get it to 2 sockets. Personally, I got my Vast Land for 1,200,000 and I'm thinking of using it until I can get either Heaven Shatterer or a TT99 bow, if I ever get that far.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

Personally, if I can't afford the Broad Land, I'd go with the Vast Land over the Soul Smasher. It's cheaper and effectively does just a bit more damage than the Soul Smasher.
I had my Soul Smasher before Frost changed and I loved it. Only problem was that the Gloom proc'd so often it'd just eat away at all of my MP. Quite often I've had it proc 3~4 times in a row. That's 15~20% of my MP gone already. Just something to keep in mind.0 -
well ok guys, thanks for the info..
The links were also nice.. thanks

I went with Soulsmasher for the - Interval and, honestly, if I had the money, I would have switched to Broadland long ago. Yes, the interval is nice, but it's only -.05, and with my 80 gold bracers, that's -.1, and I really don't feel the difference, even though it's there. If I stacked - Interval, it would make more of a difference. The Gloom sucks, my phys attack range DOES spike, but when I attack with it, I do LESS damage than I normally do, or it's the same damage I did before it proc'd. Basically losing 5% MP for a few stats that don't really work... atleast for me.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I'd have to say Soulsmasher is more worth it for two simple reasons.
1) It's cheaper and the effect isnt that much lower in dmg.
2) The 5% MP loss on an archer isnt even a lot, but exchanging your physical defence for more dmg is suicide, we're LA afterall.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Well i think of staying with unicorn till i get lvl 85 and then get Vast Land and meanwhile try to farm some coins so i could get cape of taurean chieftian and helmet of lion spirit.. it is gonna be hard since so far i managed to make only 700k coins arghh0
-
Yes, and on Harshlands, Cape of Tauran Chieftian and Helm of Lion Sprint are atleast 2.5~3mil at least. So get to farming! But Unicorn isn't that great of a bow, imo...[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

5% loss of MP is the same percentage of the total, no matter the class. oO[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

captain obvious is being obvious.
anytime i squaded with someone from 85-95 using a broadland i knew what to expect, the bow will proc, the archer will get agro, and because they have lowered their defense, they die. archer would need a res, slowing the party down, and repeat. yes, you will get higher damage, but its just gonna **** off the rest of the party and slow things down, save this for solo grinding, and pk, it sucks in a party.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
broadland, it does more damage, and you can actually sell it when your doneAP classes are a real butt pounding...0
-
Personal preference, I would recommend the CH but thats cos I'm using one on my archer. It's +5 and started using it at level 80 and still going good until 95 to switch to HS. It's auto binds so you can't sell it after you're done with it.
Taken down some same level archers using other bows and xbows especially when gloom and crit procs together. The ones using broadlands (I call it the suicide bow) when their gloom proc and defense drops, it's so easy to take them down. b:chuckle
P/s I personally think the CH is op for level 80. It's a guaranteed aggro stealer when gloom and crit proc even with the 2 rings and blessing off.0 -

Duh, I meant that an archer doesnt have a lot of mana to waste, lets say an 85 archer has 2.5k mana..5% of that is just 500 MP, but if it was on a caster (wiz, psy, cleric, veno) 5% would be a lot more if you couldnt figure that out by yourself.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Um, 500 is 20% out of 2,500, not 5%. 5% would be 125 mana.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.

... What level 85 Archer has 2.5k mp? Unless I'm missing something.
As for CH being OP, I do agree. I took mine on a test run when I first equipped her in BH69. I was the lowest in the squad and the barb couldn't hold aggro from me. I ended up having to wait like a minute before I could attack the bosses. b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Didnt say ever archer has that much but thats the average MP on that lvl as pure, atleast it was when I still played.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Average with what? A MP helm and mana shards?
Even then, your concern is kinda invalid. As an archer, you don't use much MP at all for regular PvE. You'll burn MP a good deal faster in instances, granted, but a few level 60 MP pots can keep you covered there easily. For areas where you'll be spending time doing heavy barraging, you have foods and a proc from soulsmasher is not going to make any real dent in that. As for PvP, again, there's MP foods, pots, and charms. You don't really have an excuse there.
In fact, our small MP pool means that the opposite of your concern is true. An archer with 2k MP will use more MP to cast almost any of their regular skills than they'll lose via a soulsmasher proc. When you then consider that normal pots can easily restore our tiny MP pools from 0 to full, gloom actually affects us in a less negative manner than if a caster could do the same.0 -
Hello,
First of, I am a pure dex and my mana is exactly 2500 at my current lvl if that helps.
Regarding the bow question. I used both bows on my way and I have to say the dmg Broadland deals is better than the damage of Soulmasher. I had my Soulmasher first simply because it was cheap and fighting with it wasnt all to bad it also is a nice weapon.
Broadland though deals far better damage.
I would say it is a question of money first. Can you afford Broadland then it might be a good choice. Cant you afford it go with Soulmasher.
I discussed the PvP case with some other Archers because I dont PvP and as a feedback I got that Broadlands def reduction can indeed become a problem. But well I never tested that myself.
From my experience in PvE I have to say that even thouhg Soulmasher gives intervall I found the higher damage of Broad Land to be of more use. The Heaven shatterer will combine that later but for now I guess it should be a question of your money, then of your plans and after that maybe on your preferance. Dmg or (a little) more speed.
Before I tested one of those I always said I would prefer Soulmasher for the intervall but after I used them both I have to say I enjoyed fighting with Broad land far more.
And as some of the others said. Broadlands biggest advantage later on might be that it actually can be sold. My Broadland sold which paid a part of my lvl 95 bow while my Soulmasher is still in my bag covered with dust simply because I cant bring myself to get rid of it.
If you can afford it I would say Broadland.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
