Dunno, but would be a great way to promote PWI ..., maybe put on a cheap USB and give out at promotions

    PWI plug and play b:victory

If it were possible, I think PWI would have done something like that already... can't really see why it can't work though
I'm not there to make you survive in PWI, that's your job

Yes you can copy your PWI directory to a removable drive, and run it without having to go through the full "install" process.
But you're gonna need a pretty big USB drive for that. Last check, my PWI directory was about 5gb, not counting screenshots. To run PWI on my other computers, I rely on my backup External, since I haven't got a jump-drive with enough capacity to hold it.

Also: you'll have to keep it updated once you copy. Probably an obvious point, but let me tell you, keeping three copies of the game updated can be quite a hassle sometimes, especially with large patches (for filming: my PC, my Acer netbook, my old Dell laptop which runs PWI from the external).

    Hope that helps :)

There is a simple way to it and I advised that tech once to another, but never got any reply on it. QQ.

    Anyway.

Download the full installer (there is even an updated one; I had the one when the munchkins -I mean genies- were first released), then the patches, you can find them in the download section.

Save them all on a DVD, along other stuff you want to backup.

Now, not only you can let your friend benefit from an easy game install, but you also have a game backup! b:victory

You can get cheap USB drives for under $40 that are either 8 or 16gb and can easily run PWI off one. I haven't tried, but I'm sure it's easy enough to do.
I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.

Lesthar, that's great advice for a backup, but not really what the OP was asking about.

The key point here is that you can install PWI on a removable drive, for plug & play on any computer.

*Technically, you don't even need to install; just copy the current-version PWI install to the drive. You can run the launcher/patcher.exe's, or even elementclient.exe if you know you're updated and just want to get in the game.

Ah, removable drive. Sorry Kephras, I did not read properly.

USB... SD cards with a big capacity are fine too, cheap and create less mess, imo.

And to return to the main subject, if that one is patient, have the thing done in multiple waves (copy-paste-delete, rinse and repeat). First the main installer, then the patches, as about all materials are available, easily transferrable since they do not take so much space in the end.
Patching from there to the latest version would be a breeze.

If you can't transfer all of it in one go, you could divide it into several sections, copy it to another computer and set it up there. b:victory You won't be able run it from the drive then though..

I burned a DVD the Game Client when I downloaded it. And save all Patchs [sometimes, changing to one of those big ones, so they are less in number].

So each time I need it on another computer, I just install and patch it. Or when I have to restart all my computer if changing OS, virus atack [too bad it doesnt run that good on Ubuntu, I only use Windows because of this game] or something.

But don't know about doing it like Portable Version. Doesn't it use the System Registry? [the regedit thing]

guys, guys, don't go that far.
Just get a USB Flash of 10 gigs or more.
Game is about 5.6 now, with all the updates (and prolly the screenshots i have, lol)
Put the game directory on USB flash, run it on whatever computer u feel like.
I'm running it at home on a laptop from a USB Flash. Ran it on a USB flash on a friend's PC, on a PC and laptop at work also.
Works like a charm, no instalation needed.
