Not harmful to the computer at all
google "Fraps" and you will find it
The only thing that takes up space is the clips it makes. So....download is a no, the rest...maybe.0 -

Fraps isn't harmful and the program itself isn't big but the videos it records are. Fraps basically takes a screenshot of the window every x number of times per second. Most people record at 30 frames per second with their client at size 1280x720 which provides good youtube quality. A 1:14 minute uncompressed video from fraps @ 30 fps and 1280x720 is ~860 MB. You obviously can use a program such as virtual dub to compress to a lower size and still maintain almost lossless quality. Once compressed you can delete the larger uncompressed file to save room.
Fraps has a trial version that can only record a max of 30 seconds at once and will have a watermark at the top-middle of the screen. If you want unlimited recording time and no watermark you'll have to buy the registered version or torrent it illegally.0 -
I'm not sure if I should download it because I'm afraid I won't know how to use it it...0

Then allow me to lay that fear to rest. There are precisely three things you need to know about FRAPS:
1) "Movies" tab is where you set the directory where recorded video should be stored. I usually change folders for each video, IE: "Z:\VidCapture\Asylum"; "Z:\VidCapture\RA3" - something descriptive you'll recognize for later.
2) Set a hotkey you'll remember, but tend not to use in-game. My "record on/off" button is the decimal point on the number pad. Out of the way, never used in PWI, makes a good switch. By default, I think it's set to F12.
3) FRAPS runs in the background. All you have to do to record is start FRAPS, then start PWI. When you feel like recording, press the hotkey you set (#2, above), and boom. Video.
*WARNING: On some occasions, PWI has been crashing as soon as I hit the record key. This only happens once - when I restart PWI, things work perfectly from that point on.
And that's all you really need to know.0 -
