Mounts?

Hello, there! I've played PWI for about... 5 days. And I was curious on how exactly to get the mounts, other than purchasing them with real money. Is that a possibility, or do you have to literally buy them?

    You don't have to buy them with real money. There are plenty of land and fly mounts listed at the Auctioneer (aka AH or Auction House). Look under Pets>Mounts for land mounts and Aerocraft for the fly mounts. Catshops in West Arch sell them too.

    the ultimate source of almost all mounts in game is the cash shop. (there are a double handful of exceptions, counting the one free flying mount everybody gets at level 30 and the two(?) ground mounts you can, in theory, get through the dragon quests. the free flying mounts people actually do use, but i don't recall when i last saw anybody on a DQ horse.)

    trick is, the cash shop mounts can be resold if/when somebody gets tired of theirs and upgrades, so there's a resale market. you'll see them advertised in world chat, once you get to know their names so you'll know what people are talking about. some folks sell them in catshops, you'll see some of those in west archosaur pretty much all the time. and some probably do auction house theirs, although i've not had much luck spotting cheap mounts there myself.

    There are also 2 horses you can buy in game at the pet manager but it's probably cheaper to just buy a cash shop mount from somebody in game.

    There is also an anniversary mount in the game that perfect world gave out to players who have been playing for a long time.

    You will get a (slow) free flying mount at lvl30 but until then, unless you want to buy one with real money, you'll have to run. You just started the game so you won't be able to buy one in the AH. The cheapest ground mounts cost 1-1.5 million, flying mounts start at 1.5. BTW I'm not sure ground mounts are worth it (other than for the look). As soon as I had enough gold I bought one in the AH, it was the Windsprint Panther. I know it's a cheap one but still, animation really sucks. Plus I quickly realized that I wasn't even using it. Even though it's faster you have to avoid mobs, find the right path,... Much easier to use my free flying mount, auto-path and do something else at my home or on the computer until it arrived at its destination. So I sold that ground mount back just a few days later at the same price. I was glad I didn't waste real money for that thing!
    You might get lucky though, I recently bought a flying mount at 30k from a catshop. Not a huge improvement of course, +1.0 speed instead of +0.5, but still a little better than the original free ones.
    So, in my opinion, If you really like this game and decide to buy a mount with real money you should start with a flying one, it will be a lot more useful than a ground one.

    unless they're willing to cash shop, of course. 1-1.5 million coin is only about $2.50 worth, after all. i've been tempted to get a $20 prepaid card myself, i'm running out of bank and inventory space and i could REALLY use an account stash stone...
