For the plate it comes down to more base def vs resist +4%. The Light (Lunar) pants seem to have a slight edge over the dark (TT) ones since 180 is more than 10 VIT for both Sin and BM. Can any math wiz compare the differences in base def against the 4% more resistance for meh? b:cute

BTW, what are the set bonuses for each of the set? b:thanks

    im assuming light/dark means lunar/TT99.

    2 Atk. Level +5
    5 Def. Level +10
    6 Def. Level +3

    this is the set bonus for both case, it kinda sucks that you need 5, not 4.

    the set includes helm and cape, not necklace and belt.
    so... when you get lunar cape or something, the last set bonus is over your dream.

    and i believe...
    doesnt these nirv give the same stat?
    i think forge and database gives brief info and the real output was the same.

    Assuming a set of 5 dark would give you +20% def & m.def (some say it doesn't work properly)

    base:
    20453 def
    5754 m.def

    def = 24544 (86%)
    m.def = 6905 (63%)

    light set would be:

    24609 (86%)
    6853 (63%)

    def % = (def/(def+40*lvl))

    It doesn't 'work properly' because they did not understand it. It is not a +4% of your def added on per piece, it never was. It was explained in a post in December by Korren, when they gave us a preview of all the Nirvana things, and other Tideborn expansions. Someone with no clue then took the rumor that it was 4% of your total def added on, and ran with it in forums.

    HH Nirvana is better if you have ornaments and highly refine them. Supposedly the set is better if you're self-buffed only. With full buffs the Lunar Nirvana is supposedly better. This is just regurgitated info gathered from forum trolling. I have not done the math myself. b:surrender

    one of the things ive read is that the def from armor can be debuffed but the +% cannot be debuffed.

    Meh, the difference really isn't that big. What most people worry about is:

    - HH nirvana binds and looks ugly
    - CV nirvana doesn't bind and looks good
    - Most people have HH armor already so it is cheaper to go HH route for most.

    I'm getting cv because I absolutely hate auto-bind.

    I don't know... I'm a demon so I chose to strive for Twilight Nirvana. In my opinion it looks really cool for clerics.
    So what if it auto-binds? I'm binding my end-game armor anyway so I can PK without any worries.
    Once you quench the armor for G15 it will have the same stat.s basically, so the lunar magic advantaged is short-lived. Moreover its balanced by the lower channeling.
    Just go for what you can afford / you think looks better.

    If the TT recasted is not better than Lunar then, I'm leaning towards Lunar because it can be solo farmed without having like 4 aps first. This provides a side project for times when I'm bored. For TT99 mats, even your squad does get the gold drop, you'll most likely have to buy it from the squad unless it's your faction squad helping you to get your mats.

    I do have to agree that Lunar recasted also look better. If the 4% bonus is not per piece on the recasted TT then I see little reason to choose that over Lunar.

    Once you quench the armor for G15 it will have the same stat.s basically, so the lunar magic advantaged is short-lived.

    Even after the second recast, Lunar still have higher base defense values than TT and that's why I wanted to see how much of a difference the 4% increase is.

    You need very high refines on neck + belt + rings for TT Nirvana to be better stat wise. If everything including rings is +10 or better than for sure go for TT, otherwise just get Lunar.

    Most pieces of Lunar Nirvana also gives slightly more hp. It looks better to, doesn't auto-bind, can re-sell it in the future or drop it during pk if you're a nubbie b:chuckle

    Some people want 2 of each for double attack level bonus tho. While others want 4 of same for def + attack lvl.

    Im kinda biased since i want gear i can switch between chars. I have HH99+7 pants but still spent ages farming Lunar to get pants for Nirvana. Rather waste dolls than have a 150-200 mil piece of gear restricted to 1 char.

    the magic is only short lived if
    1) you plan on getting only 2 nirvana and want the gear bonus stats
    2) You plan on getting 5 or 6 nirvana to get the gear bonus stats

    if you know you are getting only 1, 3, or 4 lunar nirvana then there is no reason to quench more than 2 of the gears if you are focusing on the gears basic stats alone. The grades will stay the same as well. Im personally planning to get 4 nirvana and quenching 3 out it maybe only 2.

    CV nirvana looks lame like HH99 gold. HH Nirvana is pretty wicked. At least the heavy top is. I also like the arcane, haven't really paid attention to the LA. HH Nirvana weapons also look nicer as well. Especially the axes and fists.

    As for the price of CV vs HH, if you factor the cost of a 4 piece set, they'll cost roughly the same. The real savings is from making the CV chest which is about half the price of the 99 top, and the difference in cost is balanced by the higher cost of the other 3 pieces. Most people go 99 gold because more people farm it, and with Lunar costing 3m per instance without the ability to hold them, far less people will be going for CV because those changes, quite frankly, suck. Lunar is just not worth running anymore.

    2 pieces is base def (unbuffed) x 1.08 = new def
    3 pieces is base def (unbuffed) x 1.12 = new def
    4 pieces is base def (unbuffed) x 1.16 = new def

    * Note: This is an example and using 4% def gear but some are 2% so change to fit the calculation.

    Now when adding buffs it will look something like this equation:

    (Base defense x 1.08) + (base def x 0.7) + (base def x 0.65) = new defense

    The reason it's this way is you can only add base defense 1 time in the equation.

    CV is lunar... if you've ever done, it's still called Crescent Valley somewhere before Primal Fear spawns, so technically it's a valid PWI term as well ;p b:chuckle

    b:chuckle LOL the extra defence isn't just for the armour piece, as many ppl said before, IF you have high refines for your rings/neck/belt eg 10+ go ahead use TT, if not go Lunar.

    But Lunar is harder to farm, and about the look.. well most archer got LA99 wrist/boots Nirv hat/leg rank chest. It is really bad looking if we dont have fashion over top it, I never want to show to people what is hidding under my fashion b:laugh

    Actually you are wrong on assuming that HH Nirvana is better without buffs.

    Buffed: CV Nirvana > HH Nirvana (large gap)
    No buffs: CV Nirvana is still a bit better than HH Nirvana (small gap)
    Debuffed: HH Nirvana > CV Nirvana (semi-large gap)

    If you get debuffed a lot then HH Nirvana is better for you but if you don't get debuffed much or are PvE then CV Nirvana is better.

    I am more of a pve player, so I went lunar. With cleric phy def and sage aura, I used to have 16k phy def with full TT99. Now with my new double cast lunar nirvana pants, I get 18k phy def with buffs, about 20k phy def if I cast the plate sitting in my bank. I doubt TT/HH nirvana has defense like that.b:victory
