I've been playing for a little over two years now. I didn't create a veno out of hopes that they would create a male veno, but apparently not. So I do have a veno now. Anyway, everytime I mention getting a Shaodu cub, people seem spektical. My veno is a level 21 and I've managed to catch a monster with the red tag. Why is it so hard to catch these rare pets? Why do they have to be so expensive? I know a lot of people don't want to wait until they are level 80 or higher before they can finally afford one. And is there a certain time that works best for catching them? I honestly think that I can prove people wrong, and if not, well then at least i can say I tried unlike several.

    What makes it hard to catch rare pets is the competition. If you want to tame something like the cub, you have to find out the spawn time, then be prepared to compete with a large group -- mostly high levels with channeling gear/powder. Also, there will occasionally be someone that comes to kill the rare pet just to be a jerk. This is why they are generally so expensive.

    I couldn't vote. The pet is no better than common pets aside from enabling someone to test drive pounce, but what good is pounce when the pet's dps sucks? It's not even cute at all. The undead version of it is though.

    An undead cub with the Dark Wanderer's growth chart/stats I'd pay a few mil for. 10m if it came with pounce.

    A veno friend of mine, who was between lvl 30-40, had tried to tame Shaodu and staked out at the spawn spot. Down to 5 mins before Shaodu spawned, a gang of venos turned up. And then it was a contest of speed and the affair's over in less than half a min since the poor cub spawned. My friend staked out twice and the same thing happened again.

    As Annalyse mentioned these are the high lvl venos with -channeling gears and they know the re-spawn time, so it's nigh impossible to compete with them.

    Its a all-class pet I beleive. It was in one of the packs. I also believe it was untradable.

    Rares, aren't honestly THAT hard to tame, been taming them since I was like 3x and was out taming the higher level venos it's all about timing, if you have no channel gear, then hit the tame as fast as you can for your chance to cast, if you have some, don't hit it as fast or you'll hit the tame before the pet takes damage and fail.

    And for those venos who are pulling agro from their Shadou cub, it's likely because you don't understand the way to use it as a tank pet, level it's fleshream, it's going to hold aggro more, also using the pierce skill will actually make it keep aggro, or if you'd prefer since it it's basically ironwood, to remove it and get a extra damage skill such as bash, allowing it to deal more damage and hold aggro. This is actually the same with all the pets, using more of their skills will cause the mob, and reduce the chance of you pulling it from the pet.

    And for those questioning the 80% chance to stun for 3 seconds and increase the pets attack speed by 25%, it's basically a second lucky scarab, which can be quite useful.
