For my peers that are nerds in more ways than one, what are some of your favorite animes?


Some of the young classics I like are Trigun, Rurouni Kenshin, .****//Sign (ironic?), and Inuyasha. Oh, does anyone else remember Kekaider?

Some of my newer favorites are Bleach, Buso Renkin, and Gurren Lagann.

I left several out, but ya, what are some of yours?

    The Wallflower, Toradora!, and Bleach are my favourite so far. I've seen more but these are my favourite ^^

    Oh my goodness... I watch too many. You can see my animelist here.
    I depend on MAL to keep track of what I watch. :P

    Anyways, mine would be Code Geass, Eden of the East, Bakemonogatari, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Hetalia, .**** (<3 can't wait for Link), Durarara!! and Working!!

    BTW is anyone watching the new anime that's coming out this season?
    High School of the Dead and Mitsudomoe are my current favorites so far.

    Sometimes when I'm really REALLY bored, I'd marathon.
    But mostly I fit like, 2-4 episodes in a day.

    Most of my time used to be devoted to watching and reading, but ever since I starting playing PWI, I don't watch much. :< I have tons of backlogged series.

    Fullmetal Alchemist, Fate/Stay Night, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann, Chrono Crusade, Bamboo Blade, Clannad, Kanon 2006, Ghost in the Shell (all versions), Kara no Kyoukai, Code Geass (oh, the insanity!), Claymore and many others.

    I guess that I should return to it soon...

    Ah, Lucky Star. Good pick, I had forgotten about it.

    Btw, when it comes to great oldies, I'd add City Hunter, Captain Tsubasa and various works by Leiji Matsumoto. I'd also include the Mysterious Cities of Gold, one of my favorite series of all time.

    Rozen Maiden was a fun anime too, because of its sheer randomness. Excel Saga is really dumb too.

    Regarding good series that shot themselves in the foot, I'd give a special mention to the Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya... The second season and its Endless Eight thing killed all of the fun.
    Dragon Ball GT was an outrage too.

    Bleach can range from very good to awful, given the fillers. Yet I still watch it.

    Well, my memory will make other titles pop up later on. Stay tuned for more!

    Oh, I almost forgot Hellsing... Damn great action-packed vampire madness. The dude on Konari's signature is actually one of the main characters, who's named Alucard.
    Other great series: Mushishi, Seirei no Moribito (more to come in that list)

    Note to Konari: Code Geass is actually awesome. Nonsense all the way, backstabbers and complete jerks, epic cliffhangers EVERY episode (and fans had to wait for the final episodes of season one for months), the spinzaku meme, magnificent mechas, overboard insanity, etc.
    Now, if you wanted to find logic in that series, you 'chose unwisely'.

    Welcome to the NHK was epic at the beginning, but it let me down quite a bit halfway, because it went for a topic totally unrelated to otaku (informative and boring arc)... But I finished it nonetheless.

    Here are my favs:Tales of the abyss,Basilisk,Tenjo Tenge,Full metal Panic,Claymore,Disgaea,Death Note(this probably might be mainstream anime but what i like about it is a lot of plot and mind games are involved),Detective Conan and so on.

    I hated Dragon Ball Z because all they did was charge up the entire episode and not even fight. I was so mad one time on the Trunks vs Cell fight...

    But my all time favorite has got to be Shakugan no Shana. I have watched others too...but in terms of anime, it's that one :D Manga is all about Rosario + Vampire b:dirty

    I found it funny how the guy gets creeped out A LOT by the pink haired Vampire. I acrually watched the anime (never got to finish it though).

    DBZ Kai though in HD is a piece of ****. They cut out so many scenes :/

    Doesn't lead to much bleeding if you are Namekian. They can regrow anything as long as the head is intact.

    I like it because it really hits home. A lot of the issues that the characters have dealt with (addiction to MMO's, lethargy, emotional struggles, etc), I've dealt with. Plus, the general philosophy of the anime is so similar to my own, it's almost scary. I feel like it was made for me.

    EDIT: Also, here's a random DBZ joke. How many Saiyans does it take to **** in a lightbulb? Just one, but it'll take 100 episodes for him to actually do it.

    Pretty much the same storyline as Death Note. *smart guy decides world be bad, designs uber complex ploy to forcibly take teh powah and rule it in his version of a good world. ploy goes wrong, etc etc*

    From previous posters: Full Metal Panic and Darker than Black: Fully approved.

    Full Metal Panic is superb, as it mixes great mecha action and priceless comedy.

    Darker than Black because of great fights, lots of strategy from the various protagonists and antagonists but also the variety of powers they got.

    Adding to the list today, School Rumble (which is an anime comedy, with nothing to do with fights). I never watched Fruits Basket, but I am sure it's a good series too.

    Lucky Star: Please check the Konata Sparta remix and the Ievan Polkka LS style vid, those will blow your mind away.

    Rozen Maiden: Desu, Desu, Desu! I prefer Suigintou and Kanaria of all of them.

    Hellsing: Dang them for releasing the OAV (Ultimate) only one episode once a half-year! I need to check of the newest is out.

    Code Geass: Holy cow spoilers!!

    NHK ni Youkoso!: Yeah, they even put a link for those who need help, on the official site. Must be scary to be a hikkikomori... When you don't know about it, you twitch an eyebrow and/or laugh at it, but once you see what really happens, it's quite understandable.

    -Edit: I had forgotten to say how bland the second season of Shakugan no Shana was... except for one name: Pheles. And finally one plot device was solved. I hope they will do good for the third season.-

    Pretty much the same storyline as Death Note. *smart guy decides world be bad, designs uber complex ploy to forcibly take teh powah and rule it in his version of a good world. ploy goes wrong, etc etc*

    Good point. I did like Death Note before...but then it got all mainstream-y...now I'm jus' like, "Meh, I liked it BEFORE it was cool." And yes, there is a BIG difference between Code Geass and Death Note...Death Note has the awesomeness of L. b:dirty
