Most of the people who were here in the beginning have moved on to other games. I quit for a year and came back to play just a few times in that period. Now I'm playing again but for now I've put on hold this char and I'm concentrating on levelling another. Still, a lot has changed and even though the anniversary packs made most of the CS stuff unaffordable for people who don't charge zen, I find it actually easier to play without putting money into this game now than it was before. Maybe it's just that the BH gave people the chance to level without the need to rely on CS items. After 60, you used to have to zhen (or grind like hell), which required MP charms and preferrably EXP scrolls. You don't need that anymore, you can really level without spending a dime, even at much higher levels. And that is a good thing.

But there are bad things too and I'd say one of the worst things that happened is that the thrill is no longer in the game. We used to have big serverwide conflicts in which both sides were pretty even. For some time we had three very strong guilds (Conqueror, BloodLusT, RageQuit) battling for supremacy, even though it was CQ v. BLT + RQ for the most part. Competiton was much more fierce than it is today and that includes competition for resources and grinding spots. Today no one grinds, which is nice to some extent, but it also limits the opportunities of having open competition between players and their guilds. Why would a guild KOS another guild today unless it's for some pretty lame personal reason?

In effect, what we see is many high level players doing Frost, GV, etc. and almost no real PvP. PvP is situational or downright stupid such as the "PK-ers" at West gate. KOS isn't what it used to be. Sometimes it feels like the whole server has gone to one giant carebear tea party.

I hope in the near future we'll see a return of the real LC drama rather than the crapfest we've been watching for some time now.

The bolded is very untrue. Two hours of grinding of mobs back than could net a person around 400k coins. Enough to buy a gold hp charm that would last me a week. A miji was 50k coins which was also easily affordable. Now its the norm to run every frost with five hyper stones that cost 300k each.

PVP was a lot less expensive since I would have to grind anyway to level up and I would make coins to buy charms at the same time. One wraith attack on dreamweaver port was an automatic hp charm for me, and since charms and guardian scrolls were a lot more easily obtained much more people PVPed.

And unless you were doing a zhen party I don't see the reason for a MP charm during grinding. Grind parties on mijis cost a lot less and netted around the same exp.

The rest of the post is just wasted nostalgia in a game. Who really cares lol.

This really depends on the point of view. I know that for myself it was much harder to rely on the continuous likelihood of other players to sell gold for 100-120k each than it is now to rely on fully fledged game mechanics such as BH. Besides, if packs were ever to be removed, most of the good things that you described would actually make a comeback as gold prices would drop. But the fast and free way to get to a much higher level than you could before will still be an option. And this option seriously lacked before.
PVP was a lot less expensive since I would have to grind anyway to level up and I would make coins to buy charms at the same time. One wraith attack on dreamweaver port was an automatic hp charm for me, and since charms and guardian scrolls were a lot more easily obtained much more people PVPed.

Actually, you can get into PvP now a lot more easily than you could before due to safety lock. It's full of "PK-ers" who put on their safety lock on for hours by which the only thing they're risking is gear shatter and the few mirages that you've to spend for every 15 deaths or so actually cost a lot less than paying 45k for every time you die (dolls used to go for about 35-50k).

The problem is that PvP has stopped providing the fun in this game and the thrill is gone. In my PK-ing days I've gotten some really nice stuff such as a Headless Horseman's Amulet which I managed to sell for about 800k. The chances of getting such a drop now are pretty low with almost every PK-er using the safety lock to protect their items from dropping. And, of course, with the need to grind removed, competition is practically non-existent which makes for a dull gaming experience.

lol. People are still dropping crazy stuff. Wadzio +10 CV wand cv ring, Riordan +10 CV bow, CrunchyCat cube neck, Sclypher Warsoul help with 3 vit stones.... Wolfmanjack max'd Hellfire Drake, Calvin Rose Gold Gourd... and all sorts of HH green armor, weapons, fly mounts, and whatever you can think of in inventory. People still drop stuff. It's been a good month since I got a good drop, was a max'd Laila's Heart... but I don't PvP often at all. b:surrender

I feel a need to post here. Why? Because I've been playing for almost 2 years now.

And I'll just say, I kind of wish things were the way they were in my nooby days.

The days when things like hyper EXP and oracles were unheard of, and to get that extra boost, you went and got a training scroll.

The days when hitting 70 or even 80 was a big deal.

The days when Nix feathers and SoF were around 1k-2k per. And even then, nixes and hercs were rare to see.

When PvP was all about skill. Not relying on your genie to save your butt, or calling your whole faction to gank someone just because they can kill you 1v1.

When gold was less than 100k each.

Back when gear didn't make you OP. Even if you had HH gear, someone with NPC gear could kill you.

Back when people like levii, SoAsian, Sullivan, Runordie, and the likes were people you just didn't mess with.

Whenever PKing in Secret Passage or on Heaven's Tear, and even camping there, was a common thing, and wasn't bannable.

And even when PKing without pots or a charm were common, and people didn't make a huge deal about "I NEEDZ CHARM 4 PKZ!"

When Guardian Scrolls were called Guardian Dolls.

When, if you had a Panther, you were awesome.

Most people around that time had the beginner fly mounts.

And before all of this **** with luck. Where the more you spend, the better your rewards are.

Indeed, sulli was the best guild leader ever. b:pleased Always PK-ing around Silver Pool, most 3x's used to see his name quite often when their screens would turn black and white. But he also used to pull a hell of a fight when a CQ/GZ/Integrity 8x nix veno came over and tried to PK him. And he was just 5x or 6x, quitting PWI at lvl 68 with over 2300 kills. He did that without stealth, without triple sparks, even most of it without double sparks. He did it a long time before genies were out. He used vendor equipment because Ethereal never had the high level barbs and clerics to run HH properly. He never bought charms or dolls, even though they were pretty cheap to buy with in-game coins at that time. He was just a pro, unlike many of the self-proclaimed top PK-ers who achieved their positions in PvP rankings mainly from TWs or AOE-ing noobs at events. Sulli was always dark red, no matter if he was questing, walking around or helping a guildie. He was also always ready to jump in a heavy duty PvP encounter in which he was usually outlevelled, outnumbered and outgeared by a great margin, but that didn't stop him from surviving and sometimes even winning against CQ and their minions.

He was so popular with 3x's that at Ethereal we had a damn hard time recruiting anyone over 30, because they were already familiar with our leader's dark red name and guild tag. That's why we told people that if they came to us, they'd at least have some sort of guarantee that sulli wouldn't PK them. b:laugh That brought to us many carebears who would in time drop this cowardly attitude and start actually enjoying the benefits of being on the PvP server. Many of them went on to become highly ranked PK-ers, even though Ethereal had been long gone.

    Indeed! b:laugh

And there goes your proof, Haiz, sulli PK-ed 4x too. b:chuckle

It was a lot of fun being around him, people from all guilds and level ranges would search for him and try to PK him. He almost always managed to escape intact, even if he was chased by people 30 lvls higher than him. I can remember him dying only once, he didn't have dolls (he never had), but all he dropped were iron shots (basic slingshot ammo) with which he'd filled his whole inventory. You can't imagine how pissed the nix veno who killed him became when all she got was this after literally days of chasing him around the world of Perfect World.

There's one thing for which he truly deserves respect though and that is the way he almost always PK-ed alone. I've helped him a few times when he was himself 3x and got in fights with a few 3x Forbiden and other similar guilds. Those guilds always called for 5x and 6x reinforcements so he called me (49 archer at the time) and another Ethereal guildie who I think was a 3x barb. That was probably the only big fight in which sulli called for guild support. He usually fought his own fights and when he became leader of Ethereal he never asked our PK squads for help, even though we had many 5x and a few 6x at the time who were more than willing to PK. Imagine if sulli had decided he wanted a high PK ranking - with Ethereal's help there was nothing to stop him from climbing to the top of the ladder. However, PK-ing was something very personal for him, it was part of his game and he did it with a certain flair. Maybe that is something other players/PK-ers could learn from him.
