Feedback on PWI?

HI b:victory
So before I start playing PWI I want to get some feedback from players :P
So please answer b:surrender and don't flame me
1) When does severe grinding occur? (at what level?)
2) As you level up does using real-world currency become a necessity? I know in some games you have to buy certain armor or stat boosters in order to upgrade your armor
3)Is this game simply whoever spends the most real-life money is the best?
4)Is there a lot of harassing/spamming in this game?
5)Are the rules strictly in forced? Do you get muted for anything? (I played this one game where I got banned for 32 hours for speaking French)b:cry
6)How friendly is the community?

1. I find myself needing to grind the rest of my level as soon as 45. With all these x2 EXP and x3 EXP going on though, it's pretty easy.
2. While not necessary, things like charms for HP and MP can be purchased from either the Cash Shop or ingame. If you plan to TW and PvP at a higher level, buying items to upgrade your gear from the Cash Shop is sometimes very needed if you want to survive.
3. Pretty much. It's certainly a large part of it at 90+.
4. Not really, though I've only played PvE servers. PvP looks like they're a real thrill, though.
5. Not at all; you usually get a warning if you spam WC or pretend to be a GM or whatever. Unless you blatantly go against the ToS, it's usually safe.
6. We don't bite.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
1) Depends on how many hours per day you'll actually play. If you only play for 1-2 hours, you'll never have to grind. If you spend more than 3, you might.
2) $$$ makes things easier. Land Mounts and fast flying mounts... but you can pay in-game coin from many people.
3) It's whoever spends the most money or works hard and farms. Anything you can get with money can be obtained with working toward long term goals.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
1.) Depends on your definition of severe. Grinding becomes necessary at around level 60 (assuming you do your dailies). There are certain things you can do at 71+ and 80-85+ that can help you in leveling, but if you choose not to do them regularly it could get 'severe' depending on how long you play a day.
2) It's not necessary. You could reach level 105 without ever having spent a dime. Not necessarily easy, but eh.
3.) Not always. In PvP that DOES tend to be the case, but you can still acquire pretty good gear without spending money. It'll just take awhile longer.
4.) I haven't noticed. Definitely no spam bots or anything like that. Harassment can easily be solved by using your blacklist and the ticket system.
5.) Mmm.. kind of. Some things slide through WC, but for the most part people who abuse it are silenced, warned, or possibly banned. Circumventing the chat filter in WC will get you muted if a GM's around, as will anything that's explicit.
6.) Probably varies from server to server, but I haven't met many bad people on HT. In general there seems to be a pretty decent amount of people willing to help out newbies and explain things to them.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

1severe grind...not really till 101/102, if youre familiar with korean style mmos, then 102+ is thier type of grind, so yes with the amount of dailys and quests and frost instance for XP, lvling is easy
2. necessity, no , there are no real game unlocks with cash shop and all items are tradeable
3. yes it has gotten this way, the best geared are the cash shoppers and merchants, by a long shot, gamble packs end game gear, refining/upgrade is cash shop
4. bot spam is EXTREMELY rare(havent seen in months), very good filter/gm action on this since long ago, people talk a lot in "world chat" but you can turn that fiter off
5. can get muted for circumventing swear filter, especially in world chat, foreign languages in world chat are not allowed, you might get muted, but rarely ever banned
6. there are friendly people and factions, but asking for help much from strangers wont get you very far, for more essential things its not too hard to find a squad0 -
1) When does severe grinding occur? (at what level?)
Never
2) As you level up does using real-world currency become a necessity? I know in some games you have to buy certain armor or stat boosters in order to upgrade your armor
No but you'll need to do a lot of farming
3)Is this game simply whoever spends the most real-life money is the best?
Whoever spends the most/farms the most
4)Is there a lot of harassing/spamming in this game?
Not really
5)Are the rules strictly in forced? Do you get muted for anything? (I played this one game where I got banned for 32 hours for speaking French)
Nope[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Which means, those other players had to charge zen themselves. If you can't find people selling them or charging and selling gold, you'll never be able to acquire them.
And then, the rate at which you get them wholly depends on what the players want in exchange.0 -

Which then means, you never had to directly charge zen yourself, which is what the OP is asking. He isn't asking "does somebody need to charge zen so I can get my items?". No, he's asking "Do I need to charge zen". Which the answer is no.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Doesn't mean YOU have to spend real money, which was kinda the point here.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

1. I haven't found that you need "severe" grinding yet at my level with all the dailies and such
2. Not really you can always farm coin if there's stuff u want from the boutique
3. Eh sorta in pvp
4. Not really
5. No, u might get warned/banned for some things, but they definitely wont ban u for speaking another language0 -

Shut up, you're an idiot. The refines +1-+10 on my CV claws cost me $0.00 real life money. My Love: Up and Down cost 205m in-game coins. I spent $0.00 real life money on that. I've made/saved/merched enough coin to buy the +10 orb, have enough coin for the +9 orb and soon I'll +11 my CV claws without spending a single real life cent for them. I didn't spend a single cent to get my lvl 11 skills, of which I'm really only missing one now. All of my gear is +5, most of that didn't cost me anything but in-game coin.
You always open your mouth without having a real clue about what you are talking about. Your examples, your logic and your positions are all fail. Yes, I'm sure that reflects on how well you know and play your class as well. Go away now, shoo.Kupuntu - Sanctuary wrote: »Doesn't mean YOU have to spend real money, which was kinda the point here.

Ah maybe you are both right
Perhaps it is like for some players it is easier to obtain items and make money while for other players it is much harder for them to do so
But you do have a point that it is not necessary to use real-life currency because you can still get it in the game for in-game coins b:victory...you just have to work harder for it I suppose b:pleased0 -

The real point is, you can obtain anything in game that you can with money. You just have to work for it. Wait, there is ONE thing you cannot get without spending real money, a Cerberus Dog all-class pet. That's it.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

1) When does severe grinding occur? (at what level?)
no grinding, they implemented a dungeon-bounty-hunter system with high exp rewards, grinding is not worth it for exp but when ur broke u might go grind :P
2) As you level up does using real-world currency become a necessity? I know in some games you have to buy certain armor or stat boosters in order to upgrade your armor
refining armors with +hp or weapons +attack is possible on a LOW chance, like u get +3 maybe 4 without cash shop, and get killed by +10 pvp wise..
you can obtain any butique item without spending real money
3)Is this game simply whoever spends the most real-life money is the best?
yes, but skilled merchants can obtain anything too, you can buy gold with coin - its just the hard way but anything is possible
4)Is there a lot of harassing/spamming in this game?
no
5)Are the rules strictly in forced? Do you get muted for anything? (I played this one game where I got banned for 32 hours for speaking French)b:cry
i see some annoying russian spam sometimes, and spam german myself... no bans :P
6)How friendly is the community?
