Hey

I have been trying to get pwi to work on my laptop which is running Ubuntu 10.04. I have searched the internet and follow several step by step guides such as

http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=579982

and iv had no luck with fixing my problem. I have installed and updated the game under the latest version of wine and i can launch the game fine. I can click the start button which starts to load the game but it always crashes with a tiny bit left on the load bar.

It did use to crash at half way until I made the direct3D regedit and I now just get this unexpected crash thing

Iv been browsing the internet for 2 days now trying to find a solution an not found anything that works so i thought i would try my luck here. hope someone can help.

thanks

If you don't get a solution, try a virtual program called VMware. It seems to help with some games.

if by "for companies" you mean VMWare is a for-pay product, then you'd be right. i don't know if they have any for-free, no-pay version of their product available or not, i haven't kept up with their product line; they may not have such a thing. but if you give them money, i'm sure they'd be more than happy to let you use their stuff on your home PC.

if you're not willing to pay for a hypervisor, there are free ones out there; Oracle has VirtualBox still available for free download, no charge. i use that on Ubuntu myself, although i haven't tried to run PWI that way (yet).
