So I download the game and double-click the shortcut on my desktop. It brings up the launcher and asks me to select one of the two patch servers. No matter which one I select, it won't connect. Also, on the right side of the launcher, it says that it can't load the web page. Now, I've been have a similar problem with other games. They all say that I can't connect to different things even though I can clearly go on the internet. Why can't I connect to anything? Any help? Thanks, Knight.

I know for a fact it's not Firewall, as I've tried adding these games to the allow list and even turning it off completely before I try running it.

It could be your anti-virus. If you're running Windows Vista or 7, it could also be your User Account Control settings, or just not using an administrator account and/or using the Run As Admin option.

download the patch you need..look at client version and see what you need to update.

Manually download the patch..then once downloaded . manually install patch.

Make sure that you have Internet Explorer 8 installed, even if it is not your default browser.

Also have the latest version of Flash installed.

Here are some other things that might help you...

Add the game folder and/or game file to the exceptions list in your firewall or antivirus software. to the exceptions list in your firewall or antivirus software.

Example: C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Perfect World International

You also might need to temporarily disable your antivirus, MS Security Essentials or Windows Firewall long enough to get into the game, and then turn it back on. Sometimes disabling may not help and you will need to add an exception for the game folder.

It might be Windows, Windows Firewall, Admin (such as running the game as Administrator), UAC, network, or antivirus settings that you will need to change so that they aren't blocking or throttling the game.

You can also try changing your proxy settings for Internet Explorer 8, to have them turned off here: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > and then untick all of the proxy settings.

If you still need additional help, please Search our Knowledge Base for the terms mentioned above. Let us know what you tried and what errors you got when you reply to us.

    Thanks!

Well, it's funny that you mention that I need IE 8 on my computer. It was on here, but it wouldn't even work for some reason. I'd update it and pull it up, and it would always tell me the web page could not be found or whatever. I was actually going to use IE to download the game, but as I said, no luck. Maybe this would explain why I can play Private servers of games but not the actual servers? The private servers have no updaters or anything. I dunno. Someone mentioned to me that it might be a got rid of a driver I need? Maybe?

Oh, and I already tried the firewall stuff and what-not. No luck. Thanks :)

You, Darthpanda, are a savior. It was the proxy settings from IE. I just went in and un-clicked the one box that was checked, and bam... Games are working again :D Thank you everyone! Time to go get all my **** to level 5 :DDD
