Trouble Getting PW to Let Me Log In

Hi everyone,

This is in fact the third time in my life that I've downloaded Perfect World. Even after all of those downloads and all that waiting, I still haven't had the chance to actually play it. I'm pretty sure the two first times were on my old laptop before I bought this one, it's a HP and much better quality than the previous. When I downloaded it onto there, it glitched and would not show anything on the screen when I clicked "Play" on the launcher.

Anyways, I downloaded it last night, it took me about four hours, and I'm ready to play! However, it doesn't seem to be working. I have made an account as you can see, and I typed my username and password into the thing on the screen when you run PW, but then it told me something like "login timeout, seconds elapsed", and it said that I failed to log in.

After that, which was about three minutes ago, I closed the client completely and reopened the launcher. I clicked the "Start" button to try again, but it's just not coming up. The launcher isn't frozen or anything, but it seems that it won't let me reopen the game, although the three options at the bottom are working.

Now, when I initially pulled the PW launcher client up, I ran patch_1 and I saw everything loading, and it seemed to be working nicely. Now the green and blue bars at the bottom seem to be fully loaded and I clicked load patch_2 and nothing's happening.

Could someone please help me? I really want to play this game, I've been waiting months.

    You have to make an exception in your firewall, it's probably blocking it.

    ctrl+alt+del, start task manager, search for the game (elementclient.exe probably) and close it. Or restart your computer.

    "patch2 etc."

    No. It says game version 353, right? It's fully patched.

    Restart your PC first.

    Here are some things that might help you...

    Add the game folder to the exceptions list in your firewall or antivirus software.

    Example: C:\Perfect World Entertainment\Name of Game

    You also might need to temporarily disable your antivirus, MS Security Essentials or Windows Firewall long enough to get into the game, and then turn it back on. Sometimes disabling may not help and you will need to add an exception for the game folder.

    It might be Windows, Windows Firewall, Admin (such as running the game as Administrator), UAC, network, or antivirus settings that you will need to change so that they aren't blocking or throttling the game.

    You can also try changing your proxy settings for Internet Explorer 8, to have them turned off here: Tools > Internet Options > Connections > LAN Settings > and then untick all of the proxy settings.
