Sacrificial strike axes in pve

My BM is getting close to 70, and I was wondering how effective the sacrificial stike special is in PvE. I've heard a lot of things about calimaties, but they tend to be on both extremes of good/bad, I've heard that they do more harm than good, and I've heard that they are so good, getting a decent refined one can only upgraded to a stronger set with the sac strike proc (tt90 gold, nirvana, lucky oht, etc). I can see how insane they can be in PvP (especially with high crit rates), but how good are they in PvE, paticulatirly from an aoeing standpoint.

When you do three 8-10k hits in a row, you will know why those are said to be the best axe there is for BMs at 7x. So yes, get calamities.100% F2P player. Started PW: March 2007, Quit PW: March 2011.

Zerk axes are nice, pve and pvp
BUT
Be prepared the suffer some charm ticks or waste alot of hp pots, cuz each time zerk strikes, it's -5% health + dmg suffered from whatever you're killing/hitting.
Even if the hit misses, the zerk effect will take your health"One of the most important factors, not only in military matters but in life as a whole, is ... the ability to direct one's whole energies towards the fulfillment of a particular task." - Field Marshal Erwin Rommel

Um.....considering the normal hit I get from my calamities is between 3 and 8k, and then my crits are between 10 and 18k. Yeah, i'd say they are really damn awesome b:victory
The -5% doesn't really affect you much if you AoE grind w/ good crit %. (I got 10% from going back to a 3 str, 2 dex build.) Also if you have a HP charm/good pots, you can survive the full time w/o much trouble.
So personally, I would suggest getting them, as they are the best 7x Axe's you can aqquire, along with that if you refine them (mine aren't even refined xD), to say like +5-+7 they can even outbeat TT90 axes.0 -
Personally... I'd make friends with some Assassins.. and have them bloodsuck you, so whenever you zerk, you gain like 3-5% back of whatever you hit.
AoEing... with Bloodsuck... b:dirty Enough said. b:laughBM PvP Guide: pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=1320761

If you PvE a lot, you'll want to get a secondary set of non-zerk axes for when you aren't getting constantly healed.TheDan - Sanctuary wrote: »Personally... I'd make friends with some Assassins.. and have them bloodsuck you, so whenever you zerk, you gain like 3-5% back of whatever you hit.

If you don't have bloodpaint, don't have either BB or a cleric healing you cause you're tanking, zerk axes suck for PvE, especially on bosses in HH where you tend to auto attack a lot.LifeHunting - Heavens Tear wrote: »The -5% doesn't really affect you much if you AoE grind w/ good crit %.
lolwut? Your correlation makes absolutely no sense.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -

So for higher levels (90+), does this mean going with zerk axes (maybe tt90 gold) is a good idea, since I'd be doing most of most of my 1v1 tanking with fists? Axes will be used mostly for crowd control.
Also, if I proc, does it effect a group of mobs, or does it have a chance for each one?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Michael: Srry. I'm charmed, along with used to potting/sutra so I rarely notice if i lose 5% of the 3.1k HP i got (after restat to 5 vit >.>, plus the vit on cala's).
Along with that, considering how fast I kill the mob's from the high crits, and fast crits, it's hard to even see when i lose 5% of my low HP0 -

Yeah, if your primary tanking weapon is going to be fists, zerk axes are fine. They really tear through your health if you're not primary tanking with zerk, cause it procs enough to be a nuisance.
Crits don't but zerk does.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
AoE zerk is nice, hit 2xDamage to ALL targets in range and as TheDan said befriend with lots of sins, the bloodpaint keeps you alive (also its fun as heck to see your HP jump 50%->90%->50%->100% etc).
also don't really know zerk Axe in 1on1 because I use fist in those situations.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Ya Cala Axes are good for 70s get a Thunderbolt Axe also cause no want mad clerics or kill yourself lol and i can tell you with Exp with -5% weps they do it ALOT more then you might think
That why im happy got rid of it and got me Pan Gu Axe +2 With immac Garnet (Not Gold) for 1mil 300k Dunno if i got ripped off or what but i needed it badly now 5.5k HP non HP gear or Buffed hehe101 Blademaster(Pro/Fail 4.0 BM with 11k base HP+G16(+10))
100 Seeker(The Vortex Beast)
86 Assassin(Solo king)
76 Archer(Squishy Nuker)
72 Cleric(Horrible healer)
67 Barb(Buff baby)
61 Wizard(King Aoe)

I consider Calas more for PvP than PvE, because the -5% for the Zerk effect is something I don't like risking when I grind (Especially AoE grinding). I have a set of TT70 Heraldry Axes for AoE grinding and a set of Claws for tanking. Zerk is.. well.. sexy as hell for PvP, I've one shot a few people my level with a Zerk+Crit. But for PvE it's best if you have a second set of axes so the zerk doesn't drain your HP too much.

I don't know why people dislike the -5%....sure it may happen more often then most notice...but as long as you got a charm/cleric/eye on your HP it won't be too hurtful.
I mean, personally I use my cala's to tank the 50 elite mobs before the final 2 bosses on the T.Born PQ quest. Thnx to those axes nobody can steal arggo from me so i always get in the top 5.0 -
