1. It really depends on what you like. If you like using magic attacks and DD'ing, you could have a tank pet (Best one after Herc is Glacial Walker) However, you could have both! A tank pet and a DD pet. If you want to have more physical attacks/defence related skills, you would have to use fox form most of the times and get a DD pet. But you can have both anyways.
2. DD aside from Nix for PvP would probably be a flying mob that could learn Flesh Ream. I have a Pinear Foxwing, some others say a Petite Sawfly is good too.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
1) Depends on situation... if your "attack" pet can tank the mob, then use it. If it can't, then use the "tank" pet to tank the mob.
2) Probably sawfly.. can't really say what you'd find since I have no idea who you are, or what level you are.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
im a veno lvl 23..
and were i can find Pinear Foxwing or Petite Sawfly ?? and wat lvl??0 -
Petite Sawfly is a lvl 8 monster, easily found around lets say Bamboo Village, which is approximately at the eastern end of the lake southeast of Plume City.
Note that these are flying monsters, so you'll either need help taming one since you can't fly yourself yet, or walk around a bit to find a place where you can reach one. There are some wooden towers in the general area that you can jump on...
For the foxwing, I can never remember where these are. You can check the database, of course. Back when I started, the Sawfly was considered to be the best free air pet, so I never bothered looking for the others --- although I still have doubts since people keep talking about PvP, which I'm totally not interested in.Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0 -

It depends on the situation. For normal grinding a DPS pet would be the best option. The level 2 Scorpions and the level 10 Dark Wanderer perform admirably and will still be useful after you get a herc/nix. The DW hits slightly less, but has a faster attack rate and higher pdef. The scorpion has higher spike damage, but attacks slower and has very low pdef.
The Dark Wanderer can be found in the the TB starter area, while the scorpions can be found in any of the other three starter areas.
For tanking bosses you will want a meat/rock shield. If you can't afford a herc then I would suggest a Glacial Walker or Crystalline Magmite, both will do the job well until you can afford a herc.ionutzbossu wrote: »2. I'm assuming you are talking about flying pets here, the flying pets with the highest attack are the Petite Sawfly, which can be found above Bamboo Village in the elves starting area, and the Cloud Skatefish which can be found near the TB starting area. Both of those pets will do well until you can afford a nix. Just remember to teach them Flesh Ream. b:victory0 -
wich is more best Dark Wanderer or Petite Sawfly?0

i tamed my own sawfly from the ground without help - just look out for one that is near the ground - well within range of your venom scarab.
there is no best between the wanderer and the sawfly - they are used for two different duties really
dark wanderer looks to be a good pulling pet (although there are some ranged pets that are useful later on) but tough and roar do mean you can use it as your main pet for a while. Glacial walker or crystal magmite are your better physical tanks, the starter scorpion is a pretty good dd/magic tank, where as the sawfly is more a pure dd pet - if you level it with you it should see you right up until you decide if you are getting a nix or not
you can't use air pets in dungeons, you can't really use ground pets against most air mobs, so eventually you will need a ground pet AND air pet, also an occasional water pet but just grab them when u need them as water quests are few and far between[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
There is no place in a perfect world for double entendre!0 -

Um somebody said (sorry didn't use quote) but they said to teach the flying pet flesh ream. I was wondering how to teach skills to pets, and how to upgrade 'em? b:victory TYSVM!0

You go to Mrs Zoologist in the South-East corner of Archosaur and buy a scroll. There are scrolls for learning new pet skills and there are tame scrolls for upgrading skills. The scrolls are not cheap - tame scroll is 200k afaik.0
