Are you Sage or Demon? Why?

Sage and loving it. (: Always having chi is great, first of all. I'm more of a pve oriented player so if you are aswell I would advise going sage too. Inside instances you can constantly built chi and triple spark to regain 20% of your MP. I have 11k MP so this is great for me. ^^ If you time it right and only focus on healing you will hardly/not use pots.

Like SilverCleric, I think it's best to look at the Sage vs Demon skills yourself on Ecatomb's site and to make your own decisions.

Given that, I went Sage since for my playstyle the skills are a better fit for me.

Demon. I love the reduced channeling and I tend to be more PVP, so +damage kinda helped sway me to the side of "evil". Of course, with the new switch-a-roo thing you can change from demon to sage or vice versa if you decide you don't like your choice.

What the demon clerics fail to realize with their so called "reduced chan" is that sage clerics have sage magic shell which gives -20% chan for 10 sec for no chi. Yeah right no chi, spammable vs flashy 3sparks/lolsealed/stunned/kited/pwned/omagad i wasted 3 sparks.

at least we dont fail in first grade elementary school math

mag shell + revive = 0.5 + 1 + (0.8x 6) + 1 = 7.3s

revive alone = 7s


same rule apply to every othe rspell or combo where chan time is even shorter, so bonus from shell is even smaller
spamming sage shell every 10s on urself to get channel cut is pure stupidity

Cool story bro, first I never said that demon revive weren't faster, it's true demons get a faster revive. But what other spell or combo are you talking about? plume shot? Don't make me laugh, but channeling is far more important on wield thunder/tempest etc...

So yes, demons don't get more channeling in general than sage clerics, it's a fact.

And no you don't spam sage shell every 10 sec, you cast sage shell from afar, then jump in and cast wield/thunder tempest, it goes fast, so you got time to kite, heal, etc... b:bye

I like it cause you live longer = more chances to do something in pvp instances, and its not just a kill or be killed first.

how did i chose?
based on ecatomb i made spreadsheet with types of skills, 0 or 1 values for 'do i like sage / demon bonus', and weights based on how often i use that skill. sage won by a quite big margin, despite demon spark, demon res and demon wield thunder...
also observed sage and demon clerics i knew to see how they work in instances (both sides were good players too)
personal choice in the end, based on my own likes and dislikes and my perception of my gameplay... (carebear liking to play in squad. ok, i like to shoot, but i chose to play a support class and thats what i am first)

Kind of offtopic, I am also still deciding what path to take and this is what bugs me.

Demon:

- Revive: True it has less channeling, it is faster, works for normal instances with non aggro switch monsters.

- Iron Heart: Recovers 300 MP over 15 seconds (to the target or the cleric?, sorry it does not specify, so cant comment this), if its the target... well unless the tank has a big pool of MP then it will be usefull, else it is just "one more feature", a cleric uses more than 300 MP in 15 seconds.

- Purify: It is good, same channeling and no chi consumed, thinking demon has more trouble getting chi. This skill is usefull, but when you need this skill to be casted you need it asap, chi is again "other feature".

- Chromatic Healing Beam: It is always good having +600 HP recovery, but imo, demon is more DD than support. No real use for a demon cleric.

- Stream of Rejuvenation: Awesome +100% phy def. when casted, really handy.

- Wield Thunder: Reduces the metal resistance of target, just awesome.

- Tempest: 25% chance to freeze the targets over 8 secs... not that awesome, 25% is pretty low it will most likely happen every 4 Tempests (if chi wasnt hard enough to get...)

- Great Cyclone: 600 more damage, good for PVP and PVE, same basic speed reduce and 8 secs effect.

- Metal Mastery: Critical +2%, also good! yet to deal high damage a cleric must be AA, LA is higher crit yes, but less damage which is kind of the same if im not wrong.

- Demon Spark: Discharges three Sparks to recover 20% of your maximum MP,
add 700% weapon damage, and increase attack speed by 25%
for 15 seconds. Grants invincibility for 3 seconds after the discharge.

700% weapon damage which is pretty much around 6-7.5k~ more damage (if using magic sword), it is a pretty nice boost, not mentioning attack speed increases 25% which is pretty much -25% channeling (thinking on delays etc. after casting the spark... which takes around 2-3 secs to get unlocked. So basically you get 12 seconds (which is 1-4 hits with that channeling, thinking on using different skills remember skill have cooldown which consumes time.) )

Oh and almost forgot to say. . . (kind of nonsense to me though) IT LOOKS PRETTEH. . . (have heard people choose this culti due to this matter... which i find... well you know what i mean.)


Sage:

- Revive: Longer range, takes pretty much the same time to be casted on the player if lets say the cleric runs to the player and uses ress. Since Sage has larger range it would take the same time to be casted so that the demon cleric gets in range + channel. Sage revive is usefull for example, world bosses, revives team mates far away without even moving.

- Iron Heart: Awesome +10% HP recovery, good for instances / FF.

- Purify: Reduced channeling and cooldown pretty much as I have heard, instant. Usefull everywhere.

- Chromatic Healing Beam: Extends the range +5 meters, awesome for instances, FF is better with Regeneration Aura (BB).

- Stream of Rejuvenation: It is great having 30% more chi every time it is casted. You are not really looking for chi if you use this skill, more like, SAVE THE SQUISHY ASAP.

- Wield Thunder: More chi...

- Tempest: 1 spark consumed at 50% chance, really handy and good to use other tempest in few seconds (cooldown).

- Great Cyclone: Reduces the speed of the target 45% for 9 seconds, good for PVE, gives you enough time to kill a target (thinking it is not +5 lvls higher than you or mini boss / boss / wb, thats just plain stu... you get me.)

- Metal Mastery: Increases metal damage 25%, good! sage needed a damage boost.

- Sage Spark: Discharges three Sparks to recover 20% of your maximum MP,
add 700% weapon damage, and reduce all damage taken by 25%
for 15 seconds. Grants invincibility for 3 seconds after the discharge.

Oh wait! sage has that "supaovapowarad700%boost", recovers 20% magic power, which in my case is about 2k MP, really nice. However the "reduce all damage taken by 25% for 15 seconds" is not true at all, if invincibility lasts 3 seconds and it got stacked, you have 12 seconds left of this bonus, which IMO leaves in no time.



Now~ opinions, how do i sound like? I've been thinking of both and have been changing my mind over the past 2 months. Need some help here lol.

Right now I am swinging more to the sage side, imo it has more attack bonuses over time than demon, as well as better support role-play.

Most people think demon is the only culti that can have -% channeling, there's gear for that. With sage you pretty much don't have problems getting sparks up, so on the long run you deal more damage due to constantly having chi up (tempest, wield thunder, cyclone, plume shot, (if you dont have enough chi then cloud eruption and repeat) ).

Fairies, meh, I can care less, if I my genie doesn't change I dont really care, it looks awesome as it is (gold discipline ftw)

Is it just me or does sage seem to be more PvP oriented? Longer sleep, freeze, and slow for slightly better kiting control. Strong faster heals for robust HP conservation. strong buffs for channeling and phy deff and chi conservation in attacks skills.

Demon seems to have stronger damage dealing skills and new capabilities in healing. But are we really DD and are these new capabilities really that neccessary? In short, I feel demon is better in instances and against bosses.

i noticed that since i like to attack alot, and am lazy, sage allows me to be more protected and focus on wacking things more. hurrhurr

Side note: Does demon WT overwrite thunder shock? (archer's metal debuff)
