In the wiki guide I read that the best playstyle is to alternate with pyro and gush and kite.
But I find that using the highest attack (at this time divine pyro), then pitfall (cuz it has a chance to freeze, it slows, aaand it's a DoT), then second highest nuke (atm it's stone rain), then gush last, and then kite if the mob's not dead by then (which 95% of the time it is).
What do yall think of this playstyle? I read on the wiki to level pyro, but I find that I haven't used it (much) since I got divine pyrogram.
Oh, by the way, my character hasnt died yet. Maybe once.

noone said u need to use gush pyro always
gushpyro is just an easy combo with fast skills that keeps the enemy slow all fight long, and u got those 2 skills from start on
first skill should be a higher nuke (depending on element ofc :P - non elemental ->Water)
best starter by far is (maxlvl) Glacial Snare, its slow effect makes them almost unable to move (followed by pyro and a gush to keep slow effect)
i see the point in dropping in some pitfall on water mobs.. but the chance is low.. and damage is rather ****, you need the spirit for nukes (better take out 50% hp with the first hit then freeze eh)i like potato0 -
I'm with Hex on this one.
You can play however you feel fit and however you feel good about it.
But, the most effective grind combo for me at low lvls was Divine-Gush-Pyro-(Gush agan if needed).
Usually if you're full mag and mob is not fire, those 3 hits will do the job.
If they don't, try with SR and the end of the combo.
The idea is to kill the mob is as little hits as possible. That means mana conservation and time efficiency.
Always keep pyro and gush maxed for your lvl, gush/pyro is the best DPS we have.____________

I always find it better to open with a heavy nuke, depended on enemy element and hit points.
If u have the crosselement u don't even need to slow them(i love metal mobs^^).The dots for wizards aren't very useful, id recommend hailstorm for the freeze effect.And btw if u need more than 4 casts on a normal mob i think you should reconsider your combo..
At lvl 39 my kitting was over,now i only shrink away if mobs spawn bad.And yea - level up pyro: pyro-gush-phoenix is best dps in most cases.0 -
I use
Glacial Snare
Sandstorm
to start even on metal mobs and then depending on the hp of the mob
low hp:
gush or pyro to finish
high hp:( increased life mobs
will of phoenix or force of will for knockback
gush - 2nd slow
distance shrink
sandstorm0 -
Don't use Sandstorm after Glacial Snare, Sandstorm is a heavy nuke. Heavy nukes are bad at DPS, which is what you need after the first hit. You need DPS to kill mobs fast. Gush not only has good DPS but can also keep the slow going.
If mobs die fast enough for this, always start with Divine Pyrogram. Why? It costs less mana than other heavy nukes and gives 20 chi instead of 15 like, say, Sandstorm.
For the same reason use Pyro when possible (when mob is not too close, and when he is slowed down already) because it gives 15 chi and costs only 141 mana. Gush, in comparison, costs 144 mana and gives 10 chi.0 -

i use divine pyro, pyro instead of gush pyro on TT-Bosses from time to time (on non, wood, metal of course-.-)
since they both have -channeling effects as demon.. i wonder if this helps me gain chi faster => more demon sparks wich are the real dps and mana recovery
(9% gear-channeling 9% gear-critrate :P)

Thx 4 the advice about chi building and mana costs. The reason why i think that Glacial Snare SS still is a good combo is that when Glacial Snare is high enough the 90% slow from Glacial Snare is way better than the gush slow + the inital dmg is higher compared to gush. Cast time of the opening attack isnt important so longer cast from Glacial Snare also doesnt matter. Furthermore the higher slow gives you the chance to cast another nuke which means you can finish the mob with 3 hits which is pretty awesome. Since i try to prevent mobs from attacking me i always slow them with glacial snare even if they are water then i use Glacial Snare SS Stone Rain. Im pure build and i use water barrier to grind + got a charm with 3% mana recovery. Even more i got wellspring quarf at 7 so i got like 9.6k mana atm0 -

I think you meant you use stone rain for its 20% stun chance?
Personally, if I were you, I would instead use Glacial Snare, Hailstorm, Gush, since your freeze chance with hailstorm should be higher than your stun chance with stone rain, and hailstorm will also be faster for you.0 -

Its actually 80% for GS and 40% (45% demon) for gush. But yes the slow effect is overwritten if you use gush right after GS. If Im using GS for its slow effect I usually put in 2 skills before using gush: GS>pyro>stone rain>gush
And stone rain doesnt give crit >.> Demon version gives 20% chance to stun which is probably what he meant.0 -

It's alright I was asking because some descriptions are wrong so wanted to know if you had done tests and seen 800 damage instead.0
