Skills Question

I've just started my lovely wizard and was carefully going through all the guides and **** to find out the best skills to get and where to put my points.
I'm going for a pure magic build so I was wondering since the guides pretty much all have different confusing opinions which skills should I get and which should I just forget.
I'm only lvl 9 and currently have the skills:
Pyrogram lvl2
Gush lvl2
Stone Rain lvl1
Now I've finished the first cultivation the skills offered are:
Pyroshell
Glacial Embrace
Stone Barrier.
I do infact know I'm a..eh..n00b? I prefer the term 'new' but if you could just help me out I would really appreciate it.

I just started a wizard as well and agree would really appreciate more detailed explanations of skills and their uses, pros/cons etc. In the Newcomers guide above(Sticky) skills have been categorized as level of importance;

If High level wiz's plz give us more insights in regrads to skills, what to focus on and what not, the reasons. What kind os skills do better against what type of mobs. What skills we should leave at level1 and ignore. The most important ones to max as soon as etc.
thx b:thanks0 -
the newcomers guide is terrible, don't read it.
You should focus on pyro/gush/stone rain first, and when you have the extra spirit go for glacial embrace (for the mp regen) or stone barrier (extra pdef). Get one point in every other skill as you are going along, but don't worry about leveling anything else until you get to sandstorm. Just my 2 cents.Youtube Channel: youtube.com/user/D2VeT/videos?flow=grid&view=0

Guides like that shouldn't really be made to be followed step by step imo. There are important bits of information in them but for stuff like this maybe you should try deciding for yourself. For example if you consider you need more pdef lvl stone barrier, if u think your mp bar is letting u down then go for glacial embrace. Or if u find yourself using a certain skill very often and u like its results then lvl up that.
Try to play the game more and you'll get a felling of what should you lvl. Besides "at the end of the day" (at high lvls) you're gonna have all skills that are important to u maxed so really what you're deciding now is just the order you're gonna do that.0 -
what Adroit said
glacial embrace and stone barrier
gush pyro stone +distance shrink
dont worry about the other skills :P leave them at 1 until u really have a use of them..
and crown of flame will never be really useful (only for finishing a low hp mob->lvl1 skill ok)
pitfall only on lvl11demoni like potato0 -
Your main priorities are pyrogram, gush, stone rain, Glacial Embrace, Stone Barrier. As a pure wizard you'll need bits of both physical defense+ and mp recovery+. Mp recovery will only prove majorly helpful for levels under 60. After that I wouldnt consider it since you could just pop some mp food or w/e, thing is you'll be recovering more mp every level you get so i wouldnt but a lare PRIORITY RIGHT NOW label on it. Focus on Stone Barrier, that physical defense add on helps pretty nicely. I would focus on pyrogram, gush, stone rain, stone barrier, and divine pyrogram. you'll get divine pyrogram later and its pretty nice if you use it right. Once you reach level 25-30 you'll wanna actually start leveling glacial embrace.
Since you're just starting off thats about all i can tip you for :P Good luck and enjoy the classWiz: Joins squad
Wiz: Wiz is silent... <--code of honor kill quick and leave without saying a word.
Wiz: Stays in back incase they pull aggro (better for mob to run towards you then to be next to you, gives squad time to pull aggro from you)
Wiz: Wiz happens to pull aggro
Wiz: Wiz stands ground
Wiz: Wiz kills mob/ or is killed by mob
Wiz: Honorable death is seen by squad
<likes that xD, im either the quiet one or the active avid talker ;D0 -
Level them as u get them: lvl1 skills - max first,lvl9 skills max second, lvl 19 third and so on.
Reason why is higher lvl skills give better range: i would rather use 28.5 range lower lvl skills than 20.4 glacial snare for example.
The only skills that you should skip are the dots:crown of flame and pitfall leave at lvl 1.
Every other skill has its uses cause you rely on elements for extra damage and protection.
Also because of slow casting of heal try to keep it up to your hp - one cast for full hp bar.
Don't hold back on lower skills - they need little spirit and coins anyways.0 -

I cannot stress how often it has saved me (and my squad) from "oh ****" moments.0 -
Our healing skill is cool, you'll get WTF, WTH a few times when you can heal a 20k hp barb with 1 single cast, chance though but it's cool b:dirtyRank 8 Wizard: 1% farm b:shutup0

I only maxed my heal today (From lvl 5 to 10, had to heal a FB51) and it never was much of a need because I usually used it with sutra to save someone's **** (Mainly tank or cleric). What I mean is its not something you will use alot (unless youre a wanna be cleric with alot of -chan), so if you cant spare the coins, dont need to max it.0

There really isn't anything set in stone as to "you must have skill xxx! Or else!" Really, just go by what you use most.
For me it was:
Gush
Pyrogram
Stone Rain
Glacial Embrace
Stone Barrier
Morning Dew
Sandstorm
Will of the Phoenix
Divine Pyrogram
This is just my personal experience, dragon's breath could have ranked, however I never was invited to AoE grinding groups, and stone barrier would likely rank higher in any kind of PvP environment. But priorities mean less as you get to higher levels (80+), because you get enough spirit to max all your skills.0
