I read an archer guide dated by 2007 so I presume it was intended for PWmy. It said that Slingshots has a maximum range 2m less than the crossbow, but a shorter minimum effect range as well(which is good). The minimum range obviously still applies as it's in the weapon description, but what about the maximum range? Does the crossbow have a higher maximum range than other ranged weapons?

    The word "range" has two meanings, and I am unsure to which one you are referring.

    - Range in terms of distance.

    All ranged weapons have the same distance range, unless there is a bonus listed in the weapon.

    As for the guide you are reading, it was most likely referring to the Windcatcher weapon, which happens to be a crossbow that gets +2 meters of range.

    - Range in terms of damage

    Crossbows have the largest range of damage. That means their minimum damage is low, and their maximum damage is high. This allows for occasionaly spike damage (i.e. a hit that deals a lot of damage).

    Slingshots have the smallest range of damage. That means their minimum damage is high, and their maximum damage is low. This allows for more consistent damage output (i.e. attacks generally deal the same amount of damage).

    Bows are in between, when compared to crossbows and slingshots.

    All archer weapons (crossbow, slingshot and bow) have the same base range of 20.00. Some factors will affect this range, such as: the skill Winged Blessing which increases range by +1.00 each level (ignoring level 11 versions) and the addon that the weapon ☆Windcatcher has which increases range by +2.00.

    All archer weapons have a range and a minimum effective range.

    The range is 20m for all weapons except a few with +2m range addons.
    Within the minimum effective range most archer attacks deal only 50% damage.

    If I remember correctly:

    Minimum effective range
    Crossbows: 5.5m
    Bow: 5m
    Slingshot: 4.5m
