The British

You know, I have not once met a Brit that didn't think I was a complete idiot just for being American Then they never tell me why because they think I'm too stupid to understand. Maybe it's just my bad luck there not meeting the right brits but, I want to know why the British think we're all idiots. I can't think of anything we might have done to make them think of us like that.
I'm not trying to flame bait or anything, I just want a straight answer why they think of us as the worlds biggest country of morons.

Maybe because many of us Americans are not very....intelligent people.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Be nice to people0 -
One of my best friends from England favors an icon that says "I love the queen, but hate America...I mean, just look at them." It bothers me but I can't exactly tell him to take it off because I'm offended by his stereotypes.
America doesn't have a stellar history though, and not even a stellar present. Maybe they just think that they're more likely to be right assuming you're an idiot than assuming you're smart.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

It's much kinder to assume someone is not an idiot then call them an idiot if it becomes apparent they are stupid than it is to simply assume someone is an idiot right off the bat. What happened to all those manners they use in England?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
GohanX they don't tell you cos they don't know themselves and are uneducated! not in an academic way but ways of graces, they normally feed off the people around them and know no better and they are just arseholes, we normally have a habit of putting people down to But in reality Us Brits like to keep people grounded.0

Many Brits think I'm stupid too.
....The difference is I'm British as well.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
lol i am sure Brits could look at this thread and see as much racial stereotyping as they are being accused of
btw.. England is only one part of Great Britain.. it isnt the whole thing - you got Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland too
unfortunately as is apparent here on the forum and in MMOs in general, the genre seems to attract more than it's share of rabble rousers, troublemakers, attention seekers and those uneducated in life, so we encounter those types more often than we would like and that clouds our judgement/appraisal of others.
I give everyone the benefit of the doubt right up until the moment they act like an idiot or show themselves ignorant of life - at which point i just try and ignore anything else they might say or do and get through the instance/bh/etc as fast as i can - if their attitude is causing the run to be a bust - well asta la vista baby - i leave them to get on with it[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Lol, this is entertaining b:chuckle
I'm not British, but i live just across the see. I know a lot of American people and i know some dutch people that live there. It's not that people think all americans are stupid, it's just the stereotype we see on television a lot that causes that thought. b:avoid
Same as a lot of american people think that dutch people still all dress in traditional outerwear, walk on wooden shoes and all live nearby a windmill. b:chuckle0 -
We actually have a member in my faction (in which, most of us are Americans) from Europe, and he/she was asking us stereotypical questions like, "Are all American women really fat like they say?" and "I heard all Americans eat only fast food?"
I got fairly annoyed. Is that really how some/most Europeans think? Or is it just the idiots? I'm just dumbfounded. I didn't feel like he/she was just asking feeler questions, I felt like he/she was trying to instigate, especially when he'd started it off by insulting our military, even when we asked him not to bring it up, since some of us are military families, and while we may not agree with the war, we support our loved ones...However, that's another argument for another thread that would most likely get closed. b:chuckleKatzyn, level 101 Demon Veno

Wow, should I feel offended? I'm none of those. There are a lot of... those people here, but they are EVERYWHERE!!!
To get back on topic... People who think like this are very... close minded and I guess, lacking experience. Not all have the ability to travel to the States (or w/e other country) and see for themselves, so they just watch movies, select random news pieces, etc. Brits think Americans are dumb. Americans think that anything past Germany (to the East) is a jungle and full of wild animals everywhere (true story LOL).[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0
