Question about equipment

I'm new to PWI, and so far I'm enjoying myself. My question is just how closely should I watch my elemental defenses? Do I just ignore them completely, or are there points to aim for as you level up?

I'm using heavy armors, and am at level with all of the armors. I'm a step behind with jewelry pieces, and I haven't bothered to refine things yet. I'm not running into real problems so far, with the elemental defenses in the 400's, but most things so far have been primarily attacking physically.

    When you get higher lvl, buy necklaces and belts that give elemental reistsance, like Demon Slaughter Belt etc..

    And at lvl 69 you can get a legendary cape called Cape of Tauran Chieftain which is pretty decent and gives 250 mag resistance =)

    In the beginning most mobs are physical so low magic defense is not an issue. Once you recognize you take too much dmg from magical mobs just switch out your ornaments to magic defense ones and you should be fine.

    There will be some questmobs you will still hate like watermobs that cast magic and are packed together but still those are not essential and with BHs around you could even skip those quests and still be fine.

    Yeah, don't worry about mdef until you get around 5x. That's when you start facing your first really annoying magic mobs around Kings Feast.
