has anyone been able to craft 2 star ornament bow?

Hi,
I just wonder if anyone was able to craft a 2 star ornament bow or 2 star heretic pakata. Been trying to craft it for ever, seems like mission impossible. I though **** it and buy them at AH, but no luck there, no one is selling them. Any suggestion or ideas, or where could I get more rough fur, I have already wasted ~150.
Edit: Why does my avatar here shows that I am lvl 51, I am almost lvl 60!

Depends on luck...can't say more
And about your avatar, click Edit your avatar and choose it again, it'll update"One of the most important factors, not only in military matters but in life as a whole, is ... the ability to direct one's whole energies towards the fulfillment of a particular task." - Field Marshal Erwin Rommel

Yes it's possible to craft, just based on how lucky you are really, I got the bow on my 2nd attempt but I didn't get my 2* Sawtooth Blades until after like 20 attempts.
I just grinded the rough furs, it's not exactly too low of a drop rate if you're killing the right monsters (although I think your level might be a bit too high for those mobs now), I'm pretty sure there's plenty of catshops in west arch selling them too.
But then again, not many people grind anymore like they used to with the DQ nerf, 3 BHs at 40+, etc. so I guess it might be a bit harder to find.0 -
Yup, you can make them. It's random so keep trying. Or just keep an eye out in the AH. You can farm rough fur...
EDIT: Yeah, you don't want to buy from the boutique anymore... when I did this gold was ~100k and it was cheap to buy crafting mats... so nvmI post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
I have a lvl 45 char or so, and I grind on Sapphire Planeshark Don, but the drop rate is about 1 fur in 20 kills. Just wonder if there is anything that is easier to target and has better drop rate. to get another 150 rough fur batch is 20 * 150 = 3000 kills, I will die by those Sapphire Planeshark Don trying to get that fur.Michael_dark - Lost City wrote: »Yup, you can make them. Wait till gold prices drop back down to <350k and it's cheaper to buy them with gold than it is in-game from a merch.
Yea with the gold being 450k a piece, its quite expensive.Asmodiel - Heavens Tear wrote: »Depends on luck...can't say more

It worked, my avatar shows correct lvl!0 -
Yeah, the alchemy levelling... it wouldn't be that bad if they didn't have the drop penalty, but with the drop penalty it just sucks :-(
I did rip off a few newbies for the other skills, but haven't done Blacksmith yet --- placed catshops in the villages near decent droppers, buying the drops for considerably less than the bids in the AH. Not really fair play, but it worked... although it did take a while, and with PW crashing every now and then when you leave it AFK it didn't exactly move along faster (since I would leave the shops open overnight and while I was at work, so not a lot of occasions to check for crashes).Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0 -

I made all of them by my self. b:pleased (have 2 char with lv 5 on all manufacture)
And not using mats from boutique b:surrender here how i get the mats :
1. Anywhere anytime always check catshop selling mats especially on area not near blacksmith. Some shop can sell very cheap i remember buying 100 glaze for 2k each.
2. Go to area where mobs dropped it, look for player that ignore their drops. Also try to offer buying there.
3. Always gather harvest able mats when you see them. (if you need) Be careful because these may cause little war on pvp server.
4. The last one always looking at auction house if you can to see if someone sell for cheap & if you see a mats sell for cheap but still in bidding time, just bid it. If someone outbid you, bid back but give up when the price become too high.
Sound insane ? b:laugh[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Catshops overprice the them, considering the amount I need , doesn't worth it.
It is so rare that ppl don't pick them up. And the ones that do pick them up, they need them.
I am trying ah, but ppl don't sell bunch at good price, maybe 1-3. And then its a bid war, so far I won 3.0 -

Eh didn't you read my suggestion ? b:surrender
Look out for cat shop that far away from blacksmith and even if they only sell 1 or 2 item you need if it cheap buy it . . also always check every cat shop on newbie city.
(except tideborn it always expensive there)[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Just failed 9 times in a row with it, bought 100k more rough furs, then found a **ornamented bow for cheap in AH. Bought it, but decided I'd continue trying for one and crafted for 4/5. Sold these for a nice profit.
Its pure luck that usually **** your wallet.Seven 100+ characters leveled the hard way. Free to play. Mystic, Psychic, and Wizard left to level. b:victory0 -
I crafted the 2* sword on one try, but gave up trying the others, as I failed them both 10+ times ^^ At that point I decided to rely on crafter friends.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Sig made by me. Seems that the forums change the quality of the picture a bit. b:sad0 -
As others have noted in different threads on different topics entirely, PWI's random number generator is "not so random"... It is not that it's predictable ahead of time, but if you notice a string of failures, there seems to be a temporal locus in the algorithm that keeps spitting out failures for a bit. This is also the same phenomenon at work where those with a low crit rate suddenly get 2 or maybe even 4 critical hits in a row... then nothing for minutes on end; again temporal clustering.
If you have 2 crafting failures in a row, don't just keep crafting... take a break for a few minutes then try again. It's not guaranteed to end your losing streak but it can't hurt and it might help overcome the temporal clustering that appears to exist in a poorly designed pseudo-random number generator (RNG).
In the unlikely event that some GM is reading this and would like to ask the devs to look at improving their RNG, they might want to consult chapter 7.1 of Numerical Recipes. Never trust the compiler-supplied RNG library... code your own so you know what it does!0 -
I dont think RNG will ever be changed here, as well as other bugs that have been here for ever.
And I do check AH daily, other than the sword, other items never appear.0 -

Even so, with a random generation of probabilities for 1*, 2* and 3* with 1* being the easiest and 3* being the least likely, you would still see this with a truly random output. In other words, it's really about your luck at any given time.I post in forums. This one and others. That's why I post.0 -
lol. I got 2 ornamented 2* bows in a row when I 1st tried. 3rd was a fail & stopped.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Well, you are very lucky. Doesnt happend with me0 -
It's definitely possible. The game seems to have a mind of it's own. One time on a BM I was trying to make Sawtooth 3* cuz I wanted the weapon, that was before I knew about the whole level 4 crafting quest. Made 4 of them, 2 were 2*. I trashed them T_T Then when I tried to make a 2* for the quest I got 3* with that Sharpen buff on it X_X[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Yes you can make them.
Easiest path? Make 10 of them at once (it's the easiest and simplest method, because any non-2* you can decompose and/or sell to make the cash back ^.^).0 -

When i try to make 2 star items, i set the number to make at 3, and hit start. Usually only take 1 or 2 tries to get the 2 star. This is my signature. It is my sin in stealth mode.0 -
The issue at the moment is that I need to get 150 more rough fur, so that I could make 10 in the row.0

I done it, but had to spend like around 1 mil or more, unlucky me b:surrender[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Lol... these aren't worth anything. Problem is that the amount of Rough Fur, Purified Oil and other materials (drops only, I couldn't care less about the stuff that comes from mines) that goes into these attempts --- Blacksmith in particular, the others are still but not quite as bad --- by far exceeds the money you get from selling the failed result, even you manage to buy the materials at the NPC price.
[ EDIT: I might be confusing this with DQ items... but anyway, the sell-price of these items doesn't cover material costs if you have to buy them. Maybe, if you manage to buy at NPC price... ]
So no, I'm making one attempt at a time. Even if you still have to make garbage afterwards (I was quite lucky with the Craftsman, as I got all my 2-star Jewelry before the bar hit 100%. Afterwards the Tailor punished me by eating all my stockpiled materials for no results, which was when things got expensive...), the required items are usually the ones using quite a few materials. There are usually recipes of the same level requiring far fewer materials... so I used these to finish Craftsman, instead of wasting materials on the expensive items.Slow progress, game is getting way too grindy :-( Quests I still hope to be able to do some day: FB39, General Feng0 -
I'll tell you how lucky i am, I was doing golder tarnished key quest, and I got after 37 tries.0

lvl 6 crafting on all except apoth (cuz I havent bothered) and 100% farmed except a couple mats here and there friends gave me.
its very possible but takes alot of time and patience. for the lvl 4 ones I made a veno and lvl locked at 38 to grind around allies without a penalty. also used veno alot to farm the lvl 6 mats too cuz the 6x mobs dropped better then the 8x ones.
but yea its doable
and as someone mentioned i think....i found it actually to work better when u gathered mats for at least 5-6 and made them in bulk. I made like 10 patakas 1 by 1 and didnt get it until i made a bunch at once (got on 13th try) I know its just luck but the lvl 6 quests went faster when i did it that way[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -

Also gotta agree with this.
For my level 4 quests, I'm normally lucky and get it within 3 or so attempts.
On level 6, though, I tried making one item individually about 7 times and all failed. Then, once I had the mats to make it in a bulk of 5, I managed to get the 2* on the third in the group.0 -
Yeah, I've got both blacksmithing and tailoring lv6 on my veno - all items crafted.
But she's also got a herc and has been farming TT's to sell those mats (considerably normal and/or cheap prices on HT server, mind you) and used that coin to purchase the manufacturing materials I needed in order to make the items for the lv6 quests in bulks of 5. I bought them from catstalls for the most part, always whispering myself the cheapest price I saw so when I searched every catstall, I could go back to that particular one for that mat.
I went to the AH a few times to buy them in bulk (surprisingly cheap too since I used a calculator to divide the total buy price by the amount being sold to get a cheap price per mat - I'm too impatient for bidding ">.> )
I think the item that cost me the most was one of the tailoring things in the first part of the quest - cost almost 2mil in mats for all the attempts I made. The rest were fairly normal, almost 900k for the one and the others were less than that due to luck.
Edit: On a side note, why in the hell is one of the tailoring items a requirement of lv4 skill to make in the lv6 quest? Shouldn't it be something with a requirement of 5 like the rest of the quests?? That was driving me nuts, lol.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Get use to wasting Rough fur, Leather and Reinforced leather if you wanna up Blacksmith <.<
I got lucky and made the ornament bow first try, but probably crafted like 15 patakas before i got it. Buying them in AH is often pretty costly, most people know what weapons are used for the quests. The bow is around 750k-1 mil, the Pataka a bit cheaper b:bye
No one really crafts those weapons unless they're trying to level up Blacksmith.
Buying items for tailor or craftsman quests is far cheaper and easier, since people makes those items anyway for their chars to use.
Than when its time for Blacksmith lvl 6, i say you will need at least 200-300 Reinforced Leathers or more, even if you're being lucky. You need to craft 5 weapons thats all 2 star.
I probably spent around 5mil on mats getting from lvl 1-6 <.< Blacksmith is so costly to level up its ridiculous. I have no clue how new players that doesn't cash shop can afford it. I mean sure you can spend days and weeks grinding for specific mats and saving up...but than you wont make much money from grinding and you wont have cash for other things.
Really dont recommend anyone to level it unless you have money to spare. It not that hard to have others craft weapons for you b:chuckle0 -
I know, but it is good sometimes to decompose or to have weapons crafter with your name on it.0
-
My b/smith & tailor skills are at 6 (at least), craftsman & apo at 5.
What I usually do when I reach a step (step 2, step 3) for all skills except apo, I make a list of the mats needed for the basic materials (muslim, buddha wood, etc) which are used for all weapons and/or for all gear needed.
For instance, if the fabric (muslim, for tailor) needed is 2 (mats) + 2 (mats) + 2 (mats) and that 3 fabrics are needed for one piece of gear, it means I need 6 mats of each to make those 3 fabrics. My quest includes 3 pieces of equipment, so that's 9 muslims (18 (mats) + 18 (mats) + 18 (mats) and that's a minimum, as we know we rarely succeed on the first try.
(I get my mats from farming, buying from catshops and sometimes from AH. But I'd rather farm).
I craft the fabrics, and when I have a fairly good amount -- I've had time to gather the first mat needed for a specific gear item and the jade required -- then I start crafting the piece of equipment.
If it fails after 2 tries, I change location (tailor) and that usually works. When I get the needed item, I just sell the fabric in AH and voil[SIGPIC]http://i240.photobucket.com/albums/ff122/dart2005/PWI/july05.jpg[/SIGPIC]
