Hi everyone,
Im currently a 4X venomancer, mage build and arcane outfits
and as pets i use
- the starter scorpion (for land)
- a sawfly (for air)
- an undine supreme (for water)

I have decided that laters , depending how i progress financially, on 6x-8x levels,
i must definitely try and buy Hercule and Phoenix, to be my 2 main pets (land and air)

So here come some questions:

1) Which pet should i get first Hercule or Phoenix,
cause i cant afford getting both same time
2) can someone list the cons and pros for both Herc and Phoenix
3) Can phoenix solo FBs or TT or i need Hercule for those

Irrelevant but if someone knows plz answer...
I have all my manufacture skills at lvl 3 and all full but elder doesnt have
the option to buy the lvl 4, i was told i needed lvl 40+ char which i already am,
but still nothing can someone tell me how to get em

Thanks in advance for reading and answering

PS
Its my first time as veno and being more 40+ lvl so i consider myself still a learning newbie
Used to have a lvl 25 wiz but levelling was a pain so i quit
Returned with new server and now playing there, in DreamWeaver
And YES... Alepou means FOX in Greek and im Greek-Polish, currently living in Greece:p

Most Veno's said. go Herc first, Farm lotsa money by Aoe or TT , than you can buy easyly Phoenix aswell.

Still ask a few higherlvl Veno you meet ingame. They can tell you better :o

For the first question: I would say get herc first since both, your land and air pet, are damage pets. You have no tank pet right now.

Some poeple say herc is better, others say phoenix is better. For me they are equal, and have different uses. I have a phoenix on my veno, which is pure foxbuild. My reasons for getting a phoenix rather then a herc are the following: As you can see, I play a barb and consequently I don't really like hercules because I consider tanking to be done by a barb + cleric combo. Also, for the change I like to deal damage, so phoenix is more appropriate. And at last, the phoenix is pretty.

The main advantage of herc is that he can enter instances. He's the best tanking pet in the game (still not as good as a barb :P ). I would say, go for herc if you like playing solo. His major downside: he has rather weak aggro.
The main advantage of phoenix is the high attack and still effective tanking. You will just crush through normal quests. Since it's a flying pet, you can use it on land and in the air, and for some waterquests also (if mobs are close to the surface) Major downside: can't enter instances, so you will need to squad for those.

Now the irrelevant question: lvl4 crafting can only be obtained at lvl50. Unlike lvl2 and 3, you can't just buy them at the elder. You will have to complete a quest in order to get the books (a bit like in the beginning, when you had to search mats to get the books). You will receive an auto message when you reach lvl50. The quest you have to complete is crafting 3 different 2* items (this can consume a lot of mats), and for apothecary you need to fly around a bit.

Aww i didnt know flying pets cant enter instances cause i mostly use my scorp and i use sawfly or undine only when i have air or water involved quests
As for TANK pet, i tried and got myself a Crystalline Magmatite but its huge size and having to change the angle of camera while fighting was irritating alot so i got rid of it
Thank you everyone, and especially u, Tawa, that answered me and the irrellevant to the post question :) i appreciate it :)

Lovin the hercules with my mag build. He's the tank and I'm the DD. At my level I can solo all FB's up to 59. I just have to be careful not to let my herc die. I haven't really been doing TT yet because I'm not sure if I can do squad mode easily yet. Solo is just a waste of ult subs for now. Grinding is also good. You can send your herc into a group of mobs your level and not have to worry about em dying.

I think nix is only good for pvp. The reason for this is that most people put pounce + flesh ream on it. But I think putting bash instead of pounce would grind faster. Thats what you should use if you wanna make higher than average money with nix.

With the herc you will need to change your camera angle also. Herc will be in your way otherwise.

@Alepou: There are some pets that have pretty good def, and don't block your sight as much as a golem does. For instance the mech crabs (on top of that they are +/- lvl40, so you won't have to lvl them up), taurocs (which I use as land pet, but that's also because I have a foxbuild veno and like the pierce skill). You could also use wolves that are more average all around, or rhinodrakes just for a change.

@Literature: I'm a pure pve player, and phoenix is really good for grinding. It's, as far as I know, the only attack pet that can also tank 2 mobs without my support (nor heal, nor damage). Also, it doesn't loose aggro as easily as herc, and there is no need to change pounce for bash on a nix. I'm speaking of aggro only from the veno, not in a whole party. As said above, in a party no pet can have a better aggro then a barb.

this is (partly)wrong a herc(with even unmaxed bash) on TT/lvl 150 bosses keeps aggro better then barbs, this is in good part because of the constant damage that pets deal despite the level penalty damage modifier other DDs get

If you say so, I guess I can't contest it. Thanks for the info b:thanks
(Guess my opinion is a bit biased when it comes to herc pet b:victory )
As far as reaches my personal experience, a lvl60 archer steals aggro easily from a lvl70 herc (don't know if the veno replaced pounce for bash or not), while I don't have much trouble keeping aggro from a lvl70 wizzie. But I think your experience covers more aspects of the game b:chuckle

Having both a Herc and a Nix, I find I use my Herc more often than I do my Nix. Basically I pull my Nix out long enough to level it, and go back to my Herc unless I am on air mobs.

I love them both though, they were worth every penny I spent on them.

The Hercules is a bit slower on the kill than my Nix but I don't have to heal him as often and on Phys mobs I can round up 10-14 at a time and basically AOE grind them off his reflect.

My recommendation: Herc first, then Nix.

Also, it's easier to get food for the Herc as he eats only Meat type foods and there seems to be more of those types available in the game than the Fodder types (Hay/Wild Gensing etc) for the Nix.

Shift click... what do you mean with that?

    @Saitada
Um is there an NPC that sells food for those pets...
If NOT where and who drops their food
and what are the FODDER food except hay

    @Literature, @Saitada and @Tawarwaith
Thank you cause ur answers made me decide better, i will go for the HERC first since nix isnt used as often and can be left for laters

    @Tawarwaith
Um which wolf or tauroc do u suggest to get (am almost lvl 48 now) cause i definitely need to change that starter scorp cause it started to die alot and having me to wait to rev and replenish mana often

And YES, in the end, i planning to have both of them but cause i work and my salary isnt enough to pay bills, rent etc. and buy 2 expensive pets i plan on getting them with selling items such as MATS and DQ inside game and paying as less as possible with real life cash and that was the main reason i asked which is beter to buy first

    Get the herc first.

I was first heading for the phoenix until i decided a herc would be a much better first choice. Concidering flying pets cannot be took into fbs and so forth that seemed kinda pointless for me to have. The herc is a tanking machine and you will notice you will be making money at a faster rate than you was before.

Remember phoenix is mainly for pvp herc is for money making/tanking.

I've just started saving up for a phoenix on dreamweaver too....

There's no way I (and many others) can afford (or at least willing to save up/spend) $400+ worth to get both.

in TT , on BOSSES (150 ones) a herc with lvl 2 bash(when bash was turned off aggro would get occasionally stolen) keeps aggro from an archer 10 lvls higher even while boss is amp+heavens flame+ archer demon sparking+critting,(doing about 50k-60k damage in 5-6 seconds) the herc is doing massive damage with normal attack(1.6k a hit+ without boss being debuffed))+ the rediculous reflect, it just holds aggro amazingly well on lvl 150 bosses, cant mess around like that with a barb :P
just been testing some things out past few days :P

+ a sawfly with fr/bash is still great for pvp and air training. ;o

You know you can zoom the camara out to see the surrounding area better. As for the Crystal Mag, its the best Veno pet tank in the game. I've had mine since lvl 17 and it is currently lvl 63 (always is my lvl). And if you don't enjoy using a huge pet, you can get another pet to use for when you don't need a tank. But to get passed certain areas, especially if you don't have a squad, you REALLY need to have a tank. So right now thats the BEST idea. Also, you might want to try getting either a better land and water pet, or upgrade their skills. The Pettie Sawfly is the best flying pet in the game (other than the phoenix) as long as you teach it a few skills and upgrade the skills. You can upgrade and teach pet new skills at Mrs. Zoologist in North Archosaur.
As for the question, I heard that a Phoenix will only eat hay. If thats true than you will be spending A LOT of money to keep that thing happy. I don't know much about the Hercule though. I suggest you ask thoughs that are a higer lvl in the game or ask in Town Chat in West Archosaur.

Problem is if you're shift-clicking through your pet and you happen to miss the mob (which you can't see because your pet was in the way), well now you're running to the spot you just clicked on. Better hope you can stop before you're close enough to aggro anything.

There once a time when I cared about getting to the top quickly as possible to help others. Now, I take it slow, and don't worry about having nothing to do. There's always something to do in an MMORPG, especially if you are high level. PK'ing is for those who desire to inflate their egos.
