one like pwi, what would you implement in it?
this is just for fun~
you can put 1 or more ideas! (optional: you could also write a description or list any reasons why you'd add something to your game)
anyway, here are some of mine:
if i ever made an mmorpg, i'd...
1 give plenty of choices in the options menu.
2 include a function for players to create their own pets.
3 make the cashshop have lots of variety while still keeping prices within an affordable range and being careful not to add anything that would disrupt game balance.

I would give player multi choices for race and class, and with ability to mix between races (half breed? lol) and classes (wizard + blademaster, archer + veno, etc). But leveling a sub categories require 2x more exp than the first. Learning sub class also unlock new spell only available via class combo (wizard + blademaster => unlock elemental buff for weapon). Spell combos system while 1 spell is use after another or clash with another will create special animation and create new spell.
Mold Weapon drop from bosses can be lvl up while using and increase its base attack but keep the bonus.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
I'd fill it with various events for both, individuals and teams. That's for sure. Also, I'd encourage more faction work... Dunno, maybe some faction competitions? But other than TW like, because duh, faction filled with lowbies =/= TW faction with all lvl 90+.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

Talking about other MMO's, even ones that are imaginary and do not exist, is against PWI Forum...
...oh, wait. I don't think it is. b:chuckle
Okay, if I made my own MMO...I'd make it to where you'd HAVE to grind to earn your keep. No way around it. Because I am a grinder at heart, and you should all have to suffer through what I suffer through--I mean...earn what I earn.

if i ever could make my own game with my way horrible skills with the computer... i would totally make a game like PWI but mostly based on fashion b:cute
Instead of EXP... its fashion b:laugh
and the monsters would look really evil so you wouldn't feel bad about killing them xD and there would be plenty of very cute pets so characters like veno's could make them into pets for other people b:pleased
but mostly the fashion b:dirty
oh!!! and add in makeup LOL[SIGPIC]http://i933.photobucket.com/albums/ad175/beinghope/beinghopesiggie.png[/SIGPIC]
I forgot!!! Thanks forsaken for the signature b:cute

My MMO would try and find a way to blend sci-fi and fantasy. A player would be able to not only cast spells, but also use beam weapons and guns. I'm not sure how it would work exactly, but I suppose building golems and robots would be something else players would be able to do. Not sure how well it would work, but it'd be an interesting challenge.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Random Idea: Iron Chef MMO.
I'd play it. b:dirty[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Anyone remember Diablo 2? It's not really an MMO so technically I'm not breaking any rules but if Konari (or any other mod) thinks I am then feel free to edit this post.
Anyway, in D2 you were given a limited number of skill points so it was impossible to max all your skills (unless you ****). A lot of the skills in that game were extremely useful and leveling one skill gave a bonus to another (ie, every point in skill A increases the damage of skills B andC by X%, every level in skill B increases the range/duration/whatever of skills A and C by Y, etc). What it meant was that it was much better to have a handful of skills completely maxed instead of leveling a few skills half way.
It made the game extremely interesting and fun since builds were determined by both the stats you distributed as well as the skills you chose so the possibilities were almost endless. Sure, a few builds were chosen as the 'best' and became the common cookie-cutter builds but the real fun came from trying something completely new. Sometimes you'll fail horribly but other times you'll find a nice little gem that no one else knows.
Yeah, I'd make an MMO like PWI but have the skill point system of Diablo 2. A few other things too but I'm going to sleep now. b:sleepThis alt has been brought to you by lkurei - Harshlands.

I've actually already begun laying out the design plans for a MMORPG i'm going to make.0 -
so cool~
if only making mmorpgs wasn't all complicated >_<
i was gonna study to become a game designer in college but i chose to be a digital artist instead (since i'm alot better at drawing and stuff)
my boyfriend picked the class i didn't, though. so i'll be designing stuff traditionally and he'll be incorporating it into actual games using computers xD
now we need to find a way to make lagosaurus go extinct ... though the probability of doing that is the same as finding the cure for cancer0 -
I like more complicated MMORPG... Like ones that have limited number of skills/masteries, combo attacks, skill modifiers according to stats (in other games it's not unusual to have a warrior with magic and a mage with dexterity), minimal xp penalty for playing in a group and absolutely no damage reduction per lvl.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If I ever made a MMORPG, I'd...
Make it so that there are less quests in the beginning and more at the end of the game, it would still take longer to level but it wouldn't be only dailies, dailies, dailies...
Spend a long time to make the game perfect BEFORE I launch it to the public, so there won't be any big additions in the future (like adding a new race when the game is 1 yr old)
Make public polls about things players like/dislike, such as those packs in PW, I'd make a poll to see how many people want it and how many people hate it, then decide what to do about it.
Ban people who find a way to say dirty things on world chat (like putting spaces between letters) and think they're awesome like that b:chuckle
Make it possible for higher level people to get prizes for helping lower levels with big bosses. Then it would be easier for lowbies to get help.
Make more than 10 servers so none would get too crowded (also have a limit of how many people can play on one server)
Give every starting player a home that they can furnish, they could also buy homes in different places and when they log off, they'd have to go to "sleep" in their homes. A player would be able to stay up for 15 hrs in a row (I'd have energy potions in the game for people to keep their characters up for 1 more hour if necessary, but not more) so that people wouldn't get too addicted to the game and forget that they have to sleep and do other things in real life. Then they'd have to sleep for 9-8 hours. They could also sleep less, but then they can't bet up for 15 hrs again.
People need to eat. So I'd make them some food. They would have a skill for making food. And different food (higher level food) would give benefits like higher attack speed for an hour, besides filling your characters tummy.
I'd have cars in my game (tho the game would look like PW, not something modern, you could still get a horsey if you prefer that). And everyone could pimp their rides b:victory Higher level people would have faster and cooler cars. I'd get myself a black Lamborghini with blue flames on the side b:cool
I'd make shops in game, not just NPCs. You could go in the shop, click on a shelf and see what you can choose from over there. Clothing shops would have different selections everywhere, and you could choose what color you want (all the colors wouldn't be on sale at the same time, so you'd have to go in different stores or wait for restock) but there would be no dyes. Also, you'd have to wear winter clothing during winter and summer clothing during summer.
Haven't got time for more right now, but I might add something later.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
Well I would make something very fnatasy like.. sort of like Harry Potter... but u kno.. an MMO.. I would make it more of a mature game.. so maybe kids wouldnt be too intersted in it.. no offense or anything... but i would make the type similar to PW like the storyline but on a more fantsy base rather than oriental[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]Thankiez to Dorset for the sig!

CUT OUT DUE TO THE LENGTH OF THE TEXT
I love ya!!! Merry me!!! I fully agree with what ya wrote, only the cars seem to be... not suitable for a game like PWI, imho. Imagine a tiger in a car, driving thru harshlands (up and down those hills in winter)...
Also, your signature is amazingly done. LOL.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0 -
wow, i like all of these ideas!
except for the hours you can play/sleep limit ... i think alot of people would be unhappy with something like that ^^; i know i would because i was forced to drop out and i have basically 5% chance of getting a job so the times that i'm not busy making phone calls or going to job interviews then getting rejected, i waste by playing mmorpgs. if i had a limit of however many hours then i'd be pretty bored the rest of the time ):
and i agree, the cars don't exactly fit in with the game .... it's still a cool idea though~0 -

This is an MMORPG in a story I write, so bear with the details.
1. The game would be 3D, obviously.
2. The game graphics would be rendered in the "cloud" and thus would not need a powerful graphics card.
3. You can choose any non/mythical-ish race (IE: Succubus, Centaur, Neko, Human, Naga, Incubus, etc.) Obviously they would have male/female each, no limitations on customization.
3b. FreeForm modeling when customizing a character. For example, you can have **** as big as your head, or bigger, but not too big, lol. *cough* You can free-model your hair, to be as unique as you desire. And much more.
3c. You can also choose the overall size of your character too (does not affect strength/stats. There are limitations on how big your character can be.)
4. Classes are free to choose from any race, for example; a succubus could be a heavy armor tanker.
5. The pet system: You can capture any monster, you can even "capture" other players and copy them to have a pet that has their stats/etc. (Hence why I put quotes around capture.)
6. Unlike other MMORPGs, there are certain spells that can help you get to certain places you cannot normally get to. IE: Shrink spell, etc.
7. In the MMORPG there are different "stories" and events. Your character can have a pretty unique storyline based on personality, etc. that you give your character, which can, in turn, affect the growth of your character's stats, skills, etc.
7b. There are many "planets" to explore, the main planet is a medieval planet that has many, many players. There is a sci-fi portion of the game as well, and when players start in the sci-fi portion, they get to travel to other worlds using teleporters/ships. However, they cannot directly land the ships onto the planets unless that planet is designated as such. In the sci-fi portion, players can land on the main planet and other planets, but need a special device to help them blend in with the local population, lest they get badgered by the NPCs, and possibly attacked by them.
7c. Special events will occur, like the "Galaxy Boss" appears to try and take over the planets. When this happens, Sci-Fi, medieval, etc. characters can freely land and transport to other planets/areas to help each other take down the galaxy boss. Once the event is over, the characters will have to part. The NPCs will not remember anything of the event, so sci-fi characters would have to continue cloaking themselves with their devices to blend in.
7d. With the Galaxy Boss, you can be "infected" and turn into another class based on your current race, known as the "Farnein." They take the shape of your character, but have various edits to their appearance (such as skin color, eye color, added hardened skin like armor, etc.) These special characters can use special skills not obtained by other characters, such as "Devour," which allows the "Farnein" to physically devour a character when the character is in the "mini/shrunk" state. When this happens, you get sent to a special dungeon known as "Inside The Farnein," which allows you to meet special mobs, and have a chance to also be infected. The dungeon isn't all that long, but can be perilous. Dying in this dungeon sends you back to the start town you started in.
8. There is a "Heaven" and "Hell" area, where characters can beat up extremely high level mobs and get super rare items. To get in these places, you must first take a quest known as "Heaven Seeker" or "Devil Seeker." Once you do, you must seek out the mob designated in the quest, and be killed by it, you will be instantly teleported to the next area, fully revived, and begin the long journey to Heaven or Hell.
9. The game's name: Lumina: BEFORE.

As for the development engine, the game would have modeling done in the actual game engine itself, no need to load up textures, models, etc. It's all done within the engine. Furthermore, when editing "zones" you can snap them to the "World Grid" which is what makes up the entire planet. The grid allows you to snap in zones next to each other. Once snapped, you can hit "Save/Merge" and then the snapped piece would become part of the overall world map. The world map would not be a "graphic," and would be dynamic. When a GM adds a new portion to the world map, the map is automagically updated with that new area. Like perfect world though, the "zones" are not "linked" via transporters/warp points, they are freely part of the entire world. Only dungeons will warp you to the dungeon. There once a time when I cared about getting to the top quickly as possible to help others. Now, I take it slow, and don't worry about having nothing to do. Kiss, your idea is...interesting to say the least. But It may be to complicated to actually be put into practice. I like the blend of sci-fi and fantasy (I had something like that in mine), so that's not really what I have issue with.
There are two main things I have an issue with. One is the character creation, the second is the "Farnein" system. For the character creation, having a free form creator is...difficult to say the least. Having so many options for creation would present a great deal of problems with things such as clothing and armor. Since the armor would have to change according to character size and figure, the molders would wither have to figure out a way to make the armor itself change, or make each set of armor/cloths match each possible character model. As a quick and much more minor thing, you have both Succubi and Incubi as playable character races with both genders available to both. Problem is, they're both the same race with the Succubus being the female and Incubus being the male. Just a little thing, but still.
The Farnein thing I find to be a bit confusing. The issue is two-fold: The alteration in characters, and the consumption thing. Changing a player's character so suddenly and against their will is generally a no-no, since players often work hard developing their characters, and may not like having it change into something so different. The ability to swallow other players also seems a bit far-fetched, even for this game world. Why would it happen? What benefit for the attacking player is there? It seems like it's much more detrimental to both players involved then beneficial to the offensive player. There's also the inside dungeons. Each of these races are likely to have much different internal structures, even among individuals. You would have to figure out a way to deal with this sticky issue to even think of doing something like this. And in my opinion, the costs of doing so would far outweigh the benefit of implementation.
The overarching idea isn't bad, there's just a few things that need to be altered. But that's why you have a conceptual stage. To work out problems like this before you put too much into it. Good luck, and keep designing. b:victory[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Infection chance is null actually, you get infected by using a special item, which is gotten by chance every time you are attacked. There once a time when I cared about getting to the top quickly as possible to help others. If I knew how to code, etc. yeah, sure. But I don't, if I could make a 3D MMO with just a game engine by free-modeling all the models, rather than relying on other people modeling the models for me, then I'd make an MMORPG, but nope; every, single, MMORPG, engine, requires, you, to, import, models, textures, etc., from, an, external, file.
What good is a game engine when it can't even be used to make models itself?
It should be called a eng or an ine, instead of engine. There once a time when I cared about getting to the top quickly as possible to help others.
