Ok well I downloaded the game and everything is perfectly fine except for when I go to hit the start button it does not givve me the log in screen, a little box comes up and its a whole bunch of foreign chracters and then it closes. What do I do?

Your problem is slightly different; you have DirectDraw disabled. You should be able to enable it from the Display tab of dxdiag; if not, however, you will need to contact NVidia's technical support department.I'm having the same problem described here. i have the exact same problem, its strange though, i last logged in on sunday, and everything was fine.
now when i try to log in a window with weird signs comes up and the launcher shuts down0 -
I'm going to need some more information from you about your computer.
Find out what the model number for your PC is. Check the documentation that came with your PC, or look on the back or bottom of your PC for the model Number.
Please tell us the manufacturer's name of your system too! (Like HP, Dell, Toshiba, etc.)
Next, go to Start, click on Run (or Search if using Vista/7), and type in dxdiag and press enter.
Click on the Display tab, and then post here everything in the Device, Drivers, and DirectX Features boxes:

hi there...im having the same problem u guys already mentioned
i start the game launcher and when i click on start button, after a few seconds a window pops up
the window is the same of the images posted before and is written in some weird foreign language
i should have all the driver updated (checking atm) and ive never had this kind of issue
im currently verifing the game too...
seems this is a common issue that came out the last few days...

I have the same problem recently, and I was able to play the game before.
It most likely caused by directdraw and/or direct3D is not available. I have most graphic driver installed, and the directX still working properly.
I searched the web and found this link at microsof support:

I tried ALL the method but #6 because I can't find NetMeeting on my Windows 7 machine. And the problem still the same.
Looking at the method 6, I finally realized I have used another remote control tool recent to remotely login into my machine (the tool is called Logmein), and think, hmm, will this thing have the same effect to my directX as NetMeeting is? So I gave it a try: remotely logged to my machine again, do some remote control, and then quit the remote control. Then I reboot my machine, hola, the directdraw and direct3D is now fully avalable! Now I can play the game again without any problem.
So the lession I learned is: some remote access software, like NetMeeting and Logmein, can change your DirectX settings at a very low level, disable your Directdraw and/or Direct3D, and you can not even turn them on using dxdiag tool.
In my case, the Logmein software disable the Directdraw and Direct3D when I start doing a remote control. It usually re-enable them when you quite remote control. But what did was, I start the remote control, and remotely shutdown my machine, then quite remote control. This leave my Directdraw and Direct3D disabled!

It'll be helpful to us if you tell us some of your computer's information.
1) What is the make and model number of your computer?
2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.
3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.
4) Copy and paste the top half of your dxdiag into your forum post (that means 50% of the text). If you have Vista, please take out the (TM) (the trademark symbol) out of the text file, as the forums will cut it off and won't display the rest of the text.
If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file. This is important so that we can help you find the right software for your system.

I've got this same problem. I've read some other of these threads and got some suggestions to try, but my biggest problem being that I have no idea what kind of computer this thing is. There's no information on it whatsoever and I know that it was basically a home built computer. So I have no idea what kind of drivers or anything to use. is there any help for me?
I can't find any model number on it. perhaps if I took it apart, but I'm not real keen on doing that. It is a desktop. This thing is older than i am. (And I'm 20). I just wiped it out and installed Windows XP pro specifically just to play PW on it. Now the best i can do with what you asked is post this screenshot.

Well, guys, I gotta tell you. This is the first computer I ever played PW on. I know it has and can play on it. Given, there was horrible horrible lag, but I'm not concerned with that as long as I can get around a little. Now it just doesn't since I formatted it and reinstalled windows. I would get a new computer if it weren't such a big investment simply to have an extra computer just for PW. I have my regular laptop which I play from but I would like to be able to play two separate accounts which is why I want the other. $600 for a new computer is a bit much just for that.0

i can load and get in the game but i cant click anything to make it work ( skills, msging, log out,) no monsters or npcs show up.. i cant msg anyone, and when i do close the program through task manager no matter how far i run when i come back im in the same spot.. been told its "lag" but. i doubt it considering the other night i was playing fine.. then the 334 update came in and i cant do anything in game0
