well first you must choose a server (i prefer Lost City server) then after that just choose what class looks most attractive to you, if you want huge dmg with low defence choose wizzie, if you want to be a support person and heal people and revive them if they die, choose cleric, if you want huge HP and tons of phy def choose Barbs, like long ranged attacks with decent defence and decent attack? choose archer (ok now im starting to sound like a gameshow host....) and as for psychik im not exactly sure what they do....., assassins are great for meele dmg and have decent def and decent attack, they are outstanding for PvP, ummm who else is there.... oh yes BM's they have great phy def and decent attack, and you can build them however you want (stay away from magic though b:laugh) then last but not least there is venomancers they are in my opinion the best starter class because they are cheap and easy to lvl (unfortunatly you must play as a girl if you want to be one) and if you need anything just lemme know i am a pro haha so if you need any bosses just tell me (thats only if you join Lost City server else i can just give you advice)

Besides the forums, there are three other useful PWI related sites:

The PWI wiki - Which has all sorts of information on quests, events, how to make and use items, and other things.

The Perfect World Database - Which has specific information on individual items (sources, descriptions, etc...), monsters (locations, power levels, etc...), quests (level requirements, rewards, etc...), and NPCs (locations, options, etc...).

Ecatomb's fansite - All sorts of useful information on class skills, pet skills, genie skills, and other information.

i dont like that site personally, because it has alot of mixed up data from other versions of pwi (just a warning b:surrender)

there are 2 kinds of different servers. Either pvp or pve. At a pvp server you're being thrown into pvp at lvl 30. Meaning players can kill you. At a pve server, you can choose to go into pk-mode or not. Pve servers are fun at the beginning, since at lower lvls you wont get pk-ed (unless you put pl-mode on ofc)
Later though you will probabaly get a bit bored since the pk kinda sucks. (there are mostly lvl 90+ with pretty damn good gear and charms in pk-mode, so unless you're very skilled or have the same you will get owned a lot)

    further,
there are 8 classes with different roles in squads.
    barbarian: the tanks
venomancer: lurers and debuffers, the fight with and tame pets :)
cleric: the main healers of the game :)
    archer: phys DD (damage dealer)
    wizard: magical DD
blademaster: second tank (though barbarians have agro skills, thus make better tanks)
assasin: actually an archer without range. don't know much about them...
pshycic: another magical DD, they seem to be good magic tanks.

I suggest you look at the class forums for more information, also about different builds and for blademasters, the different weapon paths.

You just need to make sure that "/pwi/" is in the URL path when looking there. If you don't see it, just click the USA flag in the upper-right and it will show you the PWI version of the information.
