LA = PvE Death?

I just read on the wizard forums that LA is not a good build for PvE. But I think this goes for all mag classes. These classes basically rely on the fact that they will kill the monster before or shortly after it hits them once. And that's what you get with a full arcane or light vit build. But with LA, you get a little bit more physical defense in exchange for lowered mag perks (high mana, high mag damage), so you can take 1 or 2 more hits, but you'll probably get hit a lot more because of the lessened damage. Not to mention the fact that in a dungeoun your mana will run out quickly and certain heals will be less effective.
So here's my query: For those of us who want nothing to do with PvP, is LA basically a big mistake?

    cheap light > cheap arcane
    good light < good arcane

    it applies both to PvE and PvP. there's a misconcept about arcane being squishy vs. physical. with lots of sockets, high grade garnets and physical belt/necklace any arcane build may have fair physical resistance.

    I don't know as my leader is LA on both Cleric and Wizard and can do a great jop although he is not full LA.
    Looking for a decent casual understanding Faction.

    ( i answered as though you wanted pvp sorry but you can think of it the same way with mobs because you kite mobs and use all the same skills plus mobs can be melee or magic)

    Light armor sacrifices a lot of damage and makes them weak to all classes as apposed to just weak to the opposite. Personally i dont like the idea of being rolled by a mage as a magic class.. just a little more degrading especially for having plume shot (although mages are rapetastic).

    If you want to pvp you want to hit hard so you dont have to deal with them.
    You shouldn't get hit much if u know how to properly kite... as a pvp cleric should just as any long range class should..
    Clerics have great seals in order to deal with their squishy nature and if they experience close range combat they have shells.

    If you can properly refine your belt and necklace (which better be p def if ur arcane...) and shard p def you can keep your attack high and p def in good standing. Hp countered by refining gear of course).

    I was questing in hell and a light crit cleric joined my party. He took more damage than me and i stole agro every time.

    I am a pure int cleric with over 6k hp unbuffed.

    and on a side note:
    Light clerics are almost non existent in factor guilds due to the build being disgusting.

    im hoping he is using 99 arcane boots and wrists in order to keep channeling.
    3% bonus from 2 pieces of 99 + 6% on sleeves
    and maybe 6% of weapon depending on what hes using

    Instead of going light most eps go vit cleric.

    shard p def n restat vit and you wont lose as many points in magic as you would if you went light.
    You will still survive also.

    hmm, the only problem i had when i restatted to LA, is the evident loss of healing power :|

    if u use LA, to make up the matk loss, refine your weapon as high as u can b:victory

    Agreed... LA is an interesting concept, but I think it's pretty sub-optimal for wizard or cleric. I started off LA and re-stated to Arcane around L50 or so... the loss in damage output and healing ability was just too much for me to continue on that way.

    Nope as he is not at that lvl yet but he does wear arcane wrists and boots just the top and leggings are LA.

    yep, but for LA at least the healing and the attack powerwill not too low for grind/dungeon party if u refine weapon
