L70 and above archer weapons
I am looking as you read this and I am sure its been answered 1000 times, BUT I figure some fresh insight cant hurt. People say Unicorn bow...cause I am gonna need to decompose it to get L80 weapon. I have Soulslayer now 2+ and it seems to be better then the unicorn. I like the slow effect over "nimble" I don't think accuracy is that important to me is it? Does the unicorn lead to my best L80 weapon? TY in advanceb:laugh

Just use Wind and Clouds. Skipp HH 80, you can level so fast with hyper and frost that it's a waste of time. Instead of doing HH weapons, you can get Broadland or Windcatcher.0
-
69: Wind and the Clouds
88: Windcatcher
90: Blinding Radiance
That's what I did, and it worked.
And the only TT80 that you get out of Unicorn is Crimson Horn: Soulsmasher, which is a gold.If you disregard what I say because of who I am or because of the contents of what I said, you are a fool.
Everyone wants to be different, but when you're different you wish you were normal.0 -
i got CH:SS for 3 mio (noob sold me Golden spirit for 1mio each) so i bought it XD got Broad Land from 10 Anni Packs, will keep it till 95 and buy lunar thanEquipment

Wind and Clouds which I still use occasionally at lvl83...you can't beat it for the money. Good DPS, not great, but really good. Molds are like 40K or less on HT these days.
Unicorn: I only used it for 3 lvls to get my CHSS. I liked it, but it was a weapon with only one purpose: to be decomposed.
CHSS: (Farmed both Golden Spirits so it was cheap) I like this bow a great deal, but I still used the W&C in instances when there's no barb, or it's a barb I don't know. Good damage, nice crits and the weapon proc hits quite often.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

Step 1: Buy a Unicorn
Step 2: Upgrade it to +3 or so with a decent shard (or shards) by Lv80
Step 3: Continue to use it until 85
Step 4: Buy a Vast Land. You can get this for about half the price of CH:SS, or less (same base stats as Broad Land but with slightly inferior bonuses - but MUCH MUCH cheaper)
I use Vast Land, Windcatcher, and Wind & Clouds depending on when I get bored of one and for certain situations (for instance, the range on Windcatcher makes it so that Nob and Pole cannot hit me with their AoEs in BH69). I will eventually swap the W&C for an OHT slingshot with good bonuses, and I'll eventually swap Vast Land for Burst of Vacuity.
No expensive FF, Lunar, high-level TT or Nirvana bows for me. I'll have fun with what I have and care not about perfection. :P You should consider it too.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]
Yes, I'm still a stubborn holdout in favor of the old game. Haters gonna hate. ;]

Crimsonhorn: Soul Smasher was the best bow for 8x's. Now with Frost weapons easily available, it's better to save your money and get either the Vast Land or Broad Land. Until then, use Wind & Clouds.0

Call me a noob but I don't see what's expensive about CH:SS at all, nor TT bows. It takes a while to farm the mats, but isn't that what it's about...work hard towards a goal? And when you finally reach that goal, enjoy-no savor- that moment and then refocus and set new goals...?[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

^ This. I totally did exactly the same. xD I made my Vast Land +5 and it's awesome! (got the d. orbs from my bf xD). Broad Land might be better for PVP but I hate PVP and I'm Sage so whatever. ;P Vast Land is more than perfect for PVE, I kill everything in a few hits.◄ Alt for posting. | PVE Sage Archer and happy with it.0 -
For 70 and up I went:
At 69: Wind and Clouds till 80
At 80: Crimson Horn: Soulsmasher till 95
(Optional) At 85: Broad Land till 95 (Only if you feel like you have the extra cash to kill)
(Optional though I'd prefer if no one did this) At 90: Dragonbow (Every time I see an archer use one of these, a puppy dies)
At 95: Heaven Shatterer hands down, purge+dex+interval, whats not to like about it. The purge also has its many uses in PvE not just PK/PvP
You don't necessarily have to get a Unicorn at 70 for the souledge, it's easy enough when you're 80 to just buy one at the auction house then decomp it. They're dirt cheap.0 -
Wind and Clouds +7 if i counted right? o.O[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]0

CH:SS is a waste of anywhere between 3-7mil (I dunno what Golden Spirits go for these days). Sure the wep itself is good, but it's not gonna last after 90 or so... and most importantly, you can't get your investment back. With other weps you can make between 50-80% of your investment back, on average, by reselling them... maybe even more if you refine/shard them well. I sold my Double-Flawless, +3 Unicorn for 1.3mil in catshop, after having paid only about 100-150k to make it. This offset the price I paid for Vast Land, which was 3.5mil (and you can get it even cheaper).
CH:SS offers no such option because it's bound upon equipping. That's why I could never have considered it.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

I don't have the best gears, not even close to 'em. (still wearing quest reward boots and legs.) I did farm my mats, or traded mats to get everything for my CH:SS. Didn't cost me anything other than a few TT runs during double drops. TBH I did run them on the barb, though some were run on the archer. I just got it in my mind that the name of the weapon sounds really cool.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

If you hadn't made the bow, but instead sold the mats, wouldn't you have more coin and therefore better gear overall? People seem to assume that if you can farm your mats, it costs you nothing. It costs you your time and the coin that the mats could have sold for. "Time is money" comes to mind.
Since you admit you don't have the best gears yet, why spend extravagant amounts on a bow that has almost equal competitors with much lower price tags?
Don't go gold TT80 bow.0 -

I'm not worried about the rest of my gears until 90. I'll make TT90 armors when the time comes. As it is, I rarely get touched more than once by mobs, except ranged mobs.
And yes time is money. However, if I'm having fun running TTs with my squad mates, then it's money well spent. This is a game after all, and if I wasn't having fun I would not be playing it. And it took me less than 10 runs to get all my mats. I am more than happy to share mats with the peeps with whom I run TT.
As for coin, I'm not rich, but I merchant and have a fair income doing it. But I love my TT80 Gold and it only cost me time.[SIGPIC][/SIGPIC]

CH:SS has absolutely no competitors during 80s
Period!
You may want to argue that "for the price.... etc"
But if we have to say WHAT the best weapon is for the 80s, it IS the 80 gold TT bow hands down, no argument.
Pricing is completely irrelevant to answering the question that was first posed:
"Does the unicorn lead to my best L80 weapon?"
I quote bkloes
And the simple answer without everything irrelevant that has been said...
Is yes. It does lead to the best 80s weapon.0 -
Cyanea - Lost City wrote: »I feel I have to disagree with you here: The fact that the best 80s weapon (stardust) is unobtainable does not mean that a lesser weapon (CH:SS) is the best.
If you are talking about the best reasonably obtainable weapon, I think it is quite reasonable to speak of the economic aspects of alternative equipment.
lol -.-
as much as i hate to admit it, yes you're right and i was wrong.
if you, one day, decide that you prefer blowing $20K on a couple of video game pixels instead of on like... lets say a car?
Then no, the best option is not the CH... Go for Warsoul xD0
