I was playing today on a Toshiba laptop which is meant to be fast. And for some reason, I am lagging non-stop, even on lowest resolution b:cry. I can't even grind without freezing.

I was going to do TT with my GF and friends... But the laptop hold me back b:sad
I think I will play on desktop instead

What should I do?
Keep it on just for merchant or uninstall on this laptop?

    Can depend on many things - what are your laptop's specs for instance.

    Just because its made by a well known brand doesn't mean its fast.

    My current computer for PWI is a Toshiba laptop which is a good 4 years old and lag is generally minor. I use it hard-wired, far more reliable and faster than wireless. Could be down to some other system setting slowing it up on the graphics...

    Anyway... If your experience of lag is that bad for general play but manageable for cat-shop, then why not use it for merchant duty?

    Yeah, I don't really see the problem. If you can't play on your laptop because of lag, but you can play on your desktop comp, then play on your desktop lol.

    Well it depends if you want to keep your laptop on at all times, if you do then go for it and catshop on it. Desktops are more efficient for games in my opinion, it just makes things easier.

    Honestly, there could be lots of reasons for this. It could be that there is some other software running on the laptop that is slowing things down.

    I have a funky mail program on my computer, for example, and whenever it goes to check the mail, PWI lags. I learned to just shut down the mail program before I start playing. Any anti-virus or anti-malware software that periodically checks all of your files will likely do the same thing.

    You might try seeing what programs are running using Task Manager (taskmgr.exe - comes with Windows) and see if you can close any that eat up chunks of CPU or that you just don't need. The less unnecessary programs that are running, the better.

    I play wireless on my HP laptop.
    The only place I lag is sort of in arch. Other than that only the game servers ghost lag gets me.
    Maybe that's what you're experiencing.

    I can check the model again in a while, someone I know borrowed it for a bit. I'll check in another day

    It could be the comp itself, PWI does freeze up the laptop. it could be lack of memory or sort. I don't have other things on.

    Game Booster! Google it.

    Also, make sure you keep your laptop AND desktop defragmented. Fragmentation is one of the top causes of game lag... especially on older machines. Run your anti-virus and ad/spyware programs regularly (especially after doing the Free Zen Offers >_>).

    In addition, close all non-essential programs that game Booster does not.. Like email programs. /point Sangodoc

    Hey bro (again),

    I never really had problems on PWI with laptops (that said, with the model before the one I am using currently -4 years of age it had-, I tended to lag and disconnect more often... if not a server instability it was, of course).
    I always played on lowest settings though, and I still do.

    Maybe it is linked to some models of graphic cards, processors or such? Have you tried to see if you have a firewall, antivirus or worse, a hidden program (dare I say malware) that slows your computer performances down? Do you have to do a cleanup or defragmenting?
    Such small details can be a huge factor in slowdown.

    As for the slowdown, your best bet is not to ask a forum. Take it to your local computer retailer...they usually do repairs too, or at least can tell you where to take it (no I don't mean a retail giant, smaller stores specializing in computers are best) . If it's not a hardware issue, it won't even cost that much. Hell they might even do it for free if it's something very basic.
