Crashes only on char-login / teleporting / enter instance

My game client is stable as long as I just walk around. Any kind of teleporting, switching instance or even the character login has a change to crash the game client. This happens multiple times a day. When I manage to log in the character after a crash like this I'm inside the instance/teleported where I wanted.

I can't use the crash report tool either, when I try to submit the report I get an error message first and after that a success message.

This behaviour started only a few days/weeks ago

I'm running windows xp on wine 1.1.38, gentoo linux

    1: try verifying the client
2: if the above doesn't work, make sure the alsa driver is working correctly, and that it isn't muted

It'll be helpful to us if you tell us some of your computer's information.

    1) What is the make and model number of your computer?

    2) Please also tell us whether you are running a 32bit or 64bit version of Windows. You can find out in Windows by going here: Start > Control Panel > System & Maintenance > System. Then look under System > System Type. It will then display 32bit Operating System or 64bit Operating System. Include that info with the info we ask for below.

    3) To create a dxdiag log, go to Start, click on Run, then type in dxdiag and press Enter. Click on Save All Information as a text file (on your Desktop as an example.
If you are using Vista or 7, go to the Start Menu, click on the Search menu and type dxdiag.exe.

    4) Copy and paste the top half of your dxdiag into your forum post (that means 50% of the text). If you have Vista, please take out the (TM) (the trademark symbol) out of the text file, as the forums will cut it off and won't display the rest of the text.

If you have a 64bit system, please click on the 64bit Dxdiag/DirectX button to save the correct log file. This is important so that we can help you find the right software for your system.

We'll take a look at it, and offer our advice (or our super cool and helpful community might beat us to answering things for you).
Do you need help learning about patching the game, installing it, changing antivirus/firewall settings, changing network settings, learn how to use a computer, keeping your PC maintained and more?

or, since it's a linux machine. give a grep readout. since you're using gentoo I'll assume you know how to do it (I don't off the top of my head)
and yea DP, I'm sure the community'll be the one doing this one. unless you know linux well

Doh, I missed the Linux part. b:thanks

Make sure that you have the 2010 version of DirectX 9.0c

Have support for East Asian Languages or Simplified Chinese enabled/installed.

Have the latest sound and video drivers installed for XP and your hardware.

    try this:
http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=579982 (obviously where it says "download" you'll have to build (cept the regestry) but I'm sure you can handle that)

aslo, can we get a uname readout for kernel version and such (I forget the arguement for the commands, it's ben a while)

thanks and sorry for the late reply, forum notifications are not working

i installed the corefonts as step 1, the patcher needs them anyway. either this or the last update changed something, i'm crash-free until now (2 hours)

i'm going to try to uninstall the fonts again and check if it stays stable, the 3d view texts are a lot smaller now and harder to read

    these things didn't help
    - verify the client
    - reinstall directx
    - uninstall directx (wine has build-in support anyway, directx should not be used with wine)

kernel version is 2.6.30 with tux-on-ice patches (whyever you think that might help)

nvidia binary driver version is 190.42-r3

i'm trying some different registry settings now from the link you posted but they look weird and complete differ from those found in the wine app-db

@pwi staff, how do i submit an error report without that broken error reporting client?
