First up let me start by saying hi to everyone on here and at PWI.

You`ve probably read my previous thread about have what is called "The Rubberband Effect" happening quite badly in my game... well i got a few questions i wanted to ask, they are not tied in with my previous problem, just questions on general play etc that i thought would be best asked in a different thread.... so here goes.

1 - When i start and i customise my character, i.e changing the way he/she looks, hair colour, size and height etc, no matter weather i click `Confirm` or `Save` my character reverts back to the default. Is this supposed to happen or is there a way around it ??

2 - Is there a way to change the mouse controls, im not really a fan of scrolling the wheel forward to zoom out and backwards to zoom in ??

3 - I got a message saying "You can access the PW Boutique", when i go to it either through the Agent or by pressing `O` on my keyboard, i see quite a lot of stuff which can be bought for `Gold`, but even though i have more than enough gold on me it remains grey`d out, how do i purchase these items ??

4 - Is there an experience penaulty for groups/squads that have varying character levels, i.e my character is for example lvl20 and someone i have grouped with is for example lvl10/lvl16 ??

5 - How many instances are there, i.e dungeons and zones where only and/or the group your in can enter and NOT be met by other groups/players, and what are the level requirements for them ??

6 - How many skills can you have, i.e currently my character is doing Tailoring as i want to be able to make fine armour for my characters and to trade/sell to others.. ??

7 - I read somehwere that the level cap for this game is 105, is that still the same or has that now changed since the release of the expansion ??

8 - Because im farely new to PWI: Rising Tide, but not a complete stranger to the MMORPG genre, can i assume that Archosaur is the hub of PWI, i,e THE city and all the others are more like towns ??

9 - I`ve read about when you get to a certain level you can make the choice of either fighting for good or evil, is there not a main area where good and evil have thier own quests/zones/instances, for example like in WoW (world of war-craft, sry for the dash between war and craft, but putting it as one word the site believes it to be some kind of profanity or some such nonsense) ??

Well thats about all i acn think of at the moment, if i come up with anything else then i`ll post on here. Thank you for taking the time to read this post and your help and support is very much appreciated.

    1. that shouldn't happen, but I noticed some problems with that too, only that it changes nothing back than the hairstyle when I save presets...

    2. open the options, there's a box you can check that only says "zoom" I think. if I remember correctly it's the 2nd card at the top. and inverts the zoom.

3 the gold for the boutique can be charged with real money, or by exchanging ingame coins for gold other players bought at the auctioneer under "gold trading".

    4. there is, but I'm not sure where it starts and how exactly it works... I think 5 lvls difference won't affect the xp you gain, but I'm really not sure.

    5. all dungeons are instances, which means you won't meet other parties in there. the first dungeon you have to do is at lvl 19, then other ones ~every 10 lvls. later on you can grind dungeons for materials to sell or craft gear.
if you want more info search for the dungeons in the forum (dungeons and tactics subforum)

    6. you can learn all crafting skills, but it might get expensive to lvl all of them. I personally can't craft anything^^

    7. still the same

    8. yeah, archo is the most crowded city because all classes are led to it at lvl 20 and also can pick up their daily quests there. you usually don't have much to do with your starter city any more at higher lvls.

    9. better edit that out, it's not allowed to advertise/mention other games than pwi at the forums... <.<
and nope, we're all fighting the wraiths, at lvl 89 you can choose the sage or demon path, you should check on that for the class you're playing, since it affects the skills you can use (and it gives a little fairy following you^^).

Ok cheers for that, i don`t see any real issue with compareing this MMO to any other MMO, it`s not like im trying to drag people from here into another game, infact im pretty sure most people that are playing PWI have, if not played, at least seen or read about the other MMO`s..... anyways PWI have my apology if it has caused any problem.

So i don`t need to spend real money to get items from the `Boutique`, i can just go to the auctioneer and trade gold for coins to spend in the Boutique ?

**ADDED**... ahh seems ive gone and edited my Avatar so i can`t even if i wanted to, edit my previous post.. oops !!

Is there anywhere i can get an Avatar to put over there, or is that pretty much it ?!?

I know Flauschkatze answered most of these already, but I just wanted to give my input.

There is only a limited time that you can continue to customize your character (a week?) and then it becomes "fixed". However there is a level 27(?) quest that gives you a Makeover Scroll, so you can use that to change your appearance later on. You can also buy Makeover Scroll, if you want, from the Boutique.

The User Interface settings allows you to reverse the zoom in/zoom out settings, but unless there's something in the keyboard layout settings (hit K, I think) I'm forgetting, I think that's it.

What you have are coins, which is not the same as gold. You can buy gold with real money, and normally $1 = 1 gold = 100 silver. You can also go to an Auctioneer and do Gold Trading to buy gold with your coins (around 440k coins for 1 gold, last time I checked, but prices fluctuate. Wait until after the Year of the Tiger Packs go away for gold prices to go down.)

Probably, depending on what you're fighting. Item drop rates and Exp/SP rates are affected by the highest level person in your party compared to the level of the mob you're killing. If you're fighting a level 10 creature and you have a level 20 person in your party, then you'll only get 70% of the Exp you'd normally get in a similar party of level 10 players. For more see the PWDB page "How drop rate is calculated".

About 25 or so, and most don't have any level requirements to get in. There are the FBs (Chinese abbreviation for "fu ben", which basically means "instance"), the 3 FB 19's, FB 29-89 (every 10 levels or so), & the two FB 99's (that's 12), plus the RBs (Rebirth), Alpha through Delta (+4 = 16), Abbadon, Seat of Torment, Frostcovered City, Nirvana (+4 = 20), the various Twilight Temple areas (for +1, +4, or +6 areas, depending on how you count it, for 21-26 instances total) and probably a few I'm forgetting/don't know yet.
    apollo303 wrote: »

Basically, your ability to gain skills is only limited by your class, level, SP, coins, and some particular items you need for some skills. Still, it's hard to make a profit off of making armor, especially since the quality is equally random, regardless of skill level.
    apollo303 wrote: »
7 - I read somehwere that the level cap for this game is 105, is that still the same or has that now changed since the release of the expansion ??
It's still 105, but considering that only a few have made it to level 103 (and none higher), it's not really a problem.
    apollo303 wrote: »

More or less. West Archosaur is the mecca of player stores, and also therefore has the worst lag. It's also the start of many daily quests, including Crazy Stone (CS), Bounty Hunter (BH), World Quest (WQ), and Roll Call, plus the exit of the Cube of Fate and the location of some specialized NPCs (the forges and the zoologists, for example), and has teleports to just about everywhere, which all make it fairly popular.

At level 89 you can choose the "sage" or "demon" paths, and they open up different versions of "level 11" skills, plus have different quest paths that take you to either Brimstone Pit and the Seat of Torment or Eden and Abbadon, respectively.

But really, it just affects what skills are available to you and what quests you get, and not much else. The demon path, for example, has Harpy Wraith, one of the toughest creatures in PWI, as a quest boss, while the sage path doesn't. Most people pick their path based on whether they want the demon or sage skills more.

    Hope that helps!

Sorry for the double post, but...
Ok cheers for that, i don`t see any real issue with compareing this MMO to any other MMO, it`s not like im trying to drag people from here into another game
It's just a policy here about not mentioning other games. I'm not sure exactly why, but I can imagine several other reasons than what you state (such as people from other MMOs coming here to flame us and/or promote themselves), so it's probably just a simple way to avoid a complex problem.
So i don`t need to spend real money to get items from the `Boutique`, i can just go to the auctioneer and trade gold for coins to spend in the Boutique ?
You've got that backwards. Your character has coins, and you can trade that for gold at an Auctioneer if you want to buy directly from the Boutique.

Still, you might try buying some Boutique items from the Auction House instead, if you can (not all Boutique items are listed in the Auction House), as they're often cheaper than buying directly from the Boutique. For example, my venomancer got her flying mount from the Auction House, Wind Widgeted up to max speed, for about 1/4th the price it would have cost to buy the same thing with gold from the Boutique and Wind Widget it up myself, based on the coin/gold exchange rate at the time. You might have to be a bit patient for a good deal like that though.

You have a limited selection of avatars to choose from, depending on your characters. Also, once you pick one for a particular character, that's the one you're stuck with. However, they've recently broken something involving changing which avatar you're using, so you can't even switch between avatars for now. So, yeah, I don't know how you can go back and edit that now.

OK so... in-game currency is coin and the Boutique uses Gold and Silver.... thanks !!

10 - Is there a website that covers ALL quests in detail. i.e where the quest giver is located, what the quest involves, how to go about it in the best way, skills to use and the possible rewards... basically in a nut shell, quests in full detail ?

11 - How many pets can you have, and do they help in combat and/or skills ??

12 - Whats the best level for your character to be at before making the journey to Archosaur ?

13 - Where do i setup my own Faction/Guild, what are the requisites for setting one up ??

14 - How many mounts can you have in total ?

15 - If you decompose your `FREE` genie before getting the materials for a new one, is there a way to get it back ?

Thats all for now..... the question above about genies.... i kinda accidentally decomposed it as i wanted the yellow one, can`t remember what it is called, but it benefits my character more than the others do. I now have an experience cube/gem/stone of what used to be my genie. Getting the appropriate stones for making Mirage stones is hard and considering i need 3 of them to get a new genie.... well... im kinda gutted i don`t have Tinkerbell darting around my head anymore.

10: http://www.pwdatabase.com/pwi/ Sere also the quest guides in theis very forum.

11: You can have up to ten pet-bag slots, you can have one pet out at a time. HOWEVER. The only 'pets' most characters can use are mounts (which make you go faster, but you can't fight) and 'baby' pets (which just look pretty) Only venomancers can use fighting pets.
(Note: You always have one pet bag slot, a further one is opened for a venomancer, you can open three more with progressively more annoying 'bring me x of an item' quests, and the rest are cash-shop only)

12: You get your first archosaur quests at level 20.

    13: Just don't.

14: See question 10, although if you don't mind visiting the pet manage rand paying to put pets back into their eggs, as many as you can store in your inventory and bank as well, I guess.

15: No, just get three mirages and make a new genie. Players sell them for 13k or so

    And why not... ?!?

Some players just assume that guilds have to be huge anonymous power-levelling PvPing crowds. They are entirely opposed to the idea of having guilds made from just a few people who actually know each other.

Of course, the way PW is setup somewhat favors the crowd guild type.

Well thank you for that, but disspite it being opposed by many im still going to create my own, i already have 2 friends who are currently playing and a further 2 more who are about to start playing. Im pretty certain i can pull a few more in over time.

So to my previous question :-

Infact it has already been answered on the PWI wiki, so we can ignore question 13 now, basically i need to be at least lvl20 and have 100,000 coins.

In answer to your second question, the minus(-) and plus(+) keys on the right hand number pad can be used to adjust your zoom.
To answer question 10: under quest tips in these forums some ones compiled a list of quest guides sorted by level which i use frequently. b:chuckle

    Um any further burning questions?

OK i keep reading about there being a free-ish mount at lvl20 available from Archosaur, apparently it`s not very pretty but it`s a start.... i just don`t seem to be able to find it anywhere.

Can you actually get a mount at lvl20 ?

Is there a detailed map of Archosaur as it`s a very BIG place and awkward to find various people such as the Zoologist, Teleportmaster, Bankers etc etc ?

    Thanks Helfetian !!

There's no free mount. (There's free aerogear at 30)

But there's mounts available for coin only - talk to any pet manager and see if they'll not sell you a horse.

    http://pwi-forum.perfectworld.com/showthread.php?t=136781

This one's written by Ence (I hope I'm not breaking any rules by advertising guides or anythingb:shocked) and I've used it ever since I was a wee lvl 1.
13 - Where do i setup my own Faction/Guild, what are the requisites for setting one up ??

I'm sure googling 'pwi forums - guilds' or something like that will get you the answer.

But on a personal note - if you're new to the game, I find that joining existing guilds, especially if they're fairly decent sized, can be a good thing. You get helpful clan members that can help with your quests, and the best thing is that you have experienced hands to answer your every question.b:pleased

There's nothing wrong with joining 1 guild with your friends - you can still fight together as a faction, only thing is that you just won't have kicking or invitation rights straight away. If you ask me, joining a guild is a lot better - I met this lvl 30 a few days back that knew very little about the game, mainly because he had no one to ask, and didn't bother coming on the forums.

There is a button near the minimap to search for people on your current location giving you a colored arrow to reach your target as it does for your quests. I personally find that way easier than handling a detailed map.

Unfortunately, that thing was developed by a technical-only guy, not someone who actually plays the game or even cares about t. It takes forever to "find" anything through it, not just in Archosaur.

The good thing is that Archosaur may be big, but it also duplicates lots of NPCs. Just like with the other villages it doesn't take long to remember the NPCs that you usually use.
